Asha's aura is nice indeed. Makes your FoD even better.
The roots are okay too. Maybe even better when the shockduals will be better if the shockduals are reprinted in 11th.

hey i have managed to evolve my axolotls by feeding them thyroid glands the thyroxine contained in these gland is enough to change these water dwelling creatures into land based creatures

Tay, that's not evolution. It's metamorphosis. Evolution means descent with heritable modification – individuals cannot evolve, unless they're Pokemon.

Asha's Favor- limited playable aura, turns any of naya's 5/3 fatties into a major pain to deal with. Draft not brilliant but a decent mid pick in the right deck.
Corrupted Roots- This cycle is incredibly lopsided, white gets something which is almost maindeck playable but red got something which is probably not even limited maindeckable(decent sideboard though) and now black gets this which thanks to the high number of non-basics around is totally unplayable anywhere. With the power of Celestrial Purge, I would have thought that a BB cost sorcery along the lines of Sinkhole but plains/forest restricted would have been possible.
That aura good enough for troll? great offence defence + flying first strike so knights dont wreck it. Ajani might just be better tho for vigiliance, might test a couple anyway.
I wonder how many people would find it annoying if I complained just as much about creature combat, because I dislike games where people do nothing but cast creatures, butt heads and do boring combat math?
Both limited only, but both might actually be main deckable in that format. The white one makes a creature very hard to deal with in combat, and with all the 3+ color decks in limited these days, the black one is sure to find a target and either retard your opponent's development or slowly bleed them.
The abilities granted by the white aura are very strong, but a 3-mana aura that doesn't boost P/T and has no way to recoup the inherit card disadvantage of auras... I don't know. I'm convinced it looks better than it plays.
The black hoser is a dud. I have a deck built around Pyshic and Pooling Venom, this has no place in that deck whatsoever. That being said, if your opponent is playing GW and you can drop this on your first turn, it is going to hurt. Still, I don't like it.
The roots are okay too. Maybe even better when the shockduals will be better if the shockduals are reprinted in 11th.
I was thinking the same thing. More fun with Shocklands.
Still, both are pretty unplayable. I wouldn't touch an Aura in limited right now. Not with the removal in this format. (ok, MAYBE Lightning Talons if I had drafted a lot of Goblin Deathraiders, but that's still Laaate pick)
Asha's Favor: C+. And it costs 3 mana... any p/t boost would have made this OK but you pay 3 mana for 3 average abilities. Corrupted Roots: C+. Umph. Who plays with Forests or plains? Who will tap them when this aura is there? This is only for basic lands.
Corrupted Roots should have caused pain when the land tapped for or :symw:, not when a Forest or Plains was tapped.
This is the inequity of the colour hosers: Paying attention to colour is always more effective than basic land type.
Until they slow down their nonbasic insanity.
Asha's Favor is middle of the road for me. Sorta like Peregrin Mask. C.
Corrupted Roots is bad in the current metagame of Faeries, 5CC and RDW. Playable if Mono-G elves and Kithkin rise in popularity but as of this posting... D

RogueDeckWins (mono-B aggro)
AngelDusk G/W/U control)

Shore/Bind (G/U aggro w/ mistbind clique)
Casual
Hostile Takeover (U/B Tutor)
Stompy (Mono-G super aggro)
Roots seems like it neuters extended zoo. With the life total problem it already has incurred by it's mana base I don't think it will be too happy to pay two life to play anything. But I feel that this is more of a sideboard card in essence.
Take your monoblack deck, then set aside 14 swamps. Add 4 Creeping Tar Pits, 4 Darkslick Shores, 4 Drowned Catacombs, and 2 Jwar isle Refuge and add 4 Jace, the Mindsculptors. Your monoblack deck is instantly better. Better yet, drop those refuges, throw in some islands and some mana leaks, and lo and behold, you're now playing a real deck. Congratulations. Welcome to the world of competitive M:TG.
Both of these cards will be played a lot in limited. I'm really liking Corrupted Roots. I think that this could be used as a sideboard for white weenie or mono white control decks which I think we will see more of.
Actually, I'm thinking more like neither of these cards will. The white one, maybe, although if you really think about it, is this better than lightning talons? They rarely blocked the creature you had talons on anyway, they both have the same vulnerability to removal but talons has a way faster clock.
Corrupted roots is just awful though. You'd have to be out of your mind to play this in any format ever, and it's actually even worse in limited. Even if your opponent is playing the correct types of land, this card is pretty much dead unless you draw it in your opener, and even then it's far from hard to play around

Thanks mchief111 for the avvy.
I actually like the suggestion of boarding in Corrupted Roots against Zoo. They're putting themselves on a clock, and this won't help them at all. Then again, what to take out of your sideboard to replace this with?

First, an aura that represents the blessing of former ruler of Bant, the archangel Asha:
Asha's Favor 2W
Enchantment-Aura (Common)
Enchant creature
Enchanted creature has flying, first strike, and vigilance.
2/145
And second, another of the color-hosers to join Celestial Purge and Ignite Disorder:
Corrupted Roots B
Enchantment-Aura (Uncommon)
Enchant Forest or Plains
Whenever enchanted land becomes tapped, its controller loses 2 life.
41/145
It's basically one-mana cheaper black Psychic Venom limited to WG.
Let this great clan rest in peace (2001-2011)
The roots are okay too. Maybe even better when the shockduals will be better if the shockduals are reprinted in 11th.

Colorwise, it's more like Pooling Venom. . . but Roots is far more situational - for some decks never play a single basic land.

Haha, yeah... for 1W it would have been great. I'll still probably draft it, but that's about it.
Corrupted Roots is highly meh.
