Please help. I'm trying to throw together a T1 legal B/R madness deck that utilizes the Hellbent mechanic. Aside from LED and possibly bazaars, are there any cards that would work well?
Some sort of Combo deck involving Infernal Tutor, black and red Rituals Empty the Warrens and Tendrils of Agony could possibly be competitive. Bazaar has also been used as a draw engine in the sideboard of some combo decks in the past so you might be able to work that in as well. Blue also adds strong cards to the Hellbent mechanic with cards like Breakthrough.
You could use something like Avatar of Discord + Anger for early 5 damage and more opportunites for madness (A dual land + Dark Ritual makes it first turn, although a improbably hand). Best I can think of though.
I agree with Binary though, the Mongrel is the best bet for madness decks. If you don't mind discarding randomly, you can try Hell-Bent Raider, but its nowhere near as good.
WOW! Wild Mongrel! See... this is why I love this forum! I'll have to splash green into it now. Seriously, Thanks. Please feel free to continue to post on this as the deck is just in its conceptual stage. I will post a complete deck list as soon as I come up with one!

...just because your paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you.
You should probably take a look at WTF, which is basically a blue/green madness deck. It hasn't been popular for a while but it uses Wild Mongrel and Basking Rootwalla for beating.

I am no longer on MTGS staff, so please don't contact me asking me to do staff things. :|
The way I see it, first/second turn drop an enabler, either the imp or infestation, then third turn (or sooner if you have access to power) drop a gibbering descent and anger. After that, smash your way to victory.

It mostly consists of a napalm filled trench around my house and a stack of 1994 pornography in my basement.

As much as I'm against the OTT view that this card is going to solo tournaments, cure cancer and make Susan Boyle attractive I'm not really a fan of the opposing camp who think it slaughters puppies and sired Justin Bieber.
Well, I liked the Avatar of Discord with Anger thing mentioned a few posts back. Oblivion Crown turns anything into a pour-mans Wild Mongrel with going off color. Also, you should try morphing a Gathan Raiders and bringing out a Reckless Wurm for madness cost, its lots of fun, especially if it means you just went hellbent. The rest should be self explanatory. I'm not trying to take this thing to Star City's P9 or anything like that, I just thought it would be a fun thing to try.

Personally, I would make a deck around Gibbering Descent, or atleast part of it. It has madness and hellbent in it (which apperantly is someting you want in this deck). You could make some type of R/B control maybe. Maybe goblin welder and smokestacks and some other stacks cards for the control part, then have your madness guys for the win.
take a look at the legacy forum, vintage is for turn 2-3 KILLS/LOCKS not mongrels
i wouldnt say that, comments like this are why T1 is almost nonexsistent. Not everyone playing T1 has to have some uber great fantabulous deck that goldfishes on turn 1. Maybe his local card shop does T1 and the meta isnt that strong, who knows. But i will agree, this deck would do very poorly at a high level T1 tourny.
How would that work-?
Phantasmagorian would help to empty your hand if you combo it with other discard.
