I'm in a upcoming tournament that one of my friends put together and looking for a deck that HAS to be under $70. The format is vintage, also im not allowed any proxies. I am down for anything, just looking for a deck that's fun and is scary good. I'm excited to see your ideas!
He also has banned or restricted these cards on top of the normal vintage ban list:
Sol Ring
Lotus Petal
Channel
Goblin recruiter
concordant crossroads (restricted to 1)
demonic consultation
flash
tinker
oath of druids
Sensei's divining top
a good goblin build is easily do-able. and they dont run too much. dragon can get expensive to build, but theres alot of other options.

the red mage lives by the variance and dies by the variance. May the variance be with you, always.
I'm also interested in building a cheap Vintage deck. One of my LGSs has a "casual game night" that one person has been dominating with Invigorate-based Infect. For a budget of $30-$70, I'd be down for just breaking the format so we can get on with things like banlists or actual formats.
Worldgorger seems good, but I'd be up for any sort of cheap combo/extreme aggro build. I wouldn't mind seeing a more fleshed out $70 Gorger list with examples of good tutors/disruption.
ok give me a few days, and i'll see if my vinatge dragon can be "detuned" for a budget build. i can show you a great zombie aggro build thats really cheap and combo's or straight out runs people over.

You could make a Spanish Inquisition deck pretty painlessly for the money. Your business spells are all under $1, and while you lose Lion's Eye Diamond Lotus Petal, Burning Wish, and Chrome Mox, you would still be in working order for common turn 3 kills and uncommon turn 2 kills.
Powered up, the Legacy version spun for Vintage does turn 1 about 78% of the time untouched. Tall Men backed by Diabolic Intent/Culling gets the job done enough to make the budget version decent.
This, like most other tournaments, should come down to metagaming. If your metagame is developed, building a cheap Fish (read: hatebears) deck is probably your best bet. I would advise not to build a Doomsday deck on a budget. That is among the most difficult decks to pilot in the format, so with an extra handicap, I assume it would be a nightmare.

You know one of the d4's is 15-20$ish right? Cruel Bargain, youd probably have to cut them and potentially look into meditates instead and at the point its just pretty much normal storm id say. I like where this is going though and you get access to mystical tutor.

basically just straight up combo. 4 dragons, lots of reanimators, lots of looting. I was almost contemplating adding in breakthrough. X=1 means dig 4 cards down for reanimator spell and then cast it. seems relatively good. its currently 36 cards plus drownyard. I'm thinking 17-18 other lands besides drownyard so that leaves a few slots for removal. I'm thinking dismembers?

How much is lost from losing power, though? The infect deck I'm dealing with in my meta generally T2-3s unhindered, this can't even cast Frantic Search until T3.
Also, why the Drownyard over Pirahna Marsh? The Drownyard requires a blue and black source, while the Marsh will just win. Though ETBT is definitely a big downside...
tried getting dragon to around 70, couldnt really do it very well. got it close to only 98. seams red burn is better idea, chocked full of bolts, and fireblast, which can even kill dragon combo.

If you are looking for inexpensive, maybe Belcher?
i would like to build a belcher deck i know how awesome they can be just dont really know what to add and to take out compared to the ones online since they are full of power nine, and other really expensive cards.... if you could build an example i would really appreciate it
What do other people have as far as cards? Do they have similar limitations in what they will be building?
What kind of decks do you like to play? Combo, aggro, control?
honestly i have decks of combo, aggro and control so anything! i just like fast kills decks rather than drug out control is the only thing i want for this torney... i would say i should of specified more
revamped the list. Its much more combo centric to kill turn 2-3. Essencially go turn 1 loot/scour to get dragon into the grave them play a milling land or have kumano in the grave and cast an animate spell turn 2.
Unfortunately the budget makes the mana base pretty worse and maxing out of each combo part makes it so that there are occasions where you get abysmal draws of like 3-4 reanimators or tons of careful stud effects or stuff like that. about 70% of the time it pulls out turn two or 3 wins.
out of my last 10 goldfishes It got:

this deck requires necromancy, as you can go off even when its not your turn. just my opinion.

I'm curious about alot of things in that eggs list.
1) is gsz atually better than summoners pact? it saves a mana and you want to thin your deck anyway
2) wouldn't the invasions sac lands be better than tendo and prarie? definitely better than prarie.
3) no second sunrise?
4) petals are definite restricted unless theres a separate rules thing...
maybe put in the modern eggs reshape + lotus bloom?

Unbanning the Lotus Petal was a good call. I went with a Hex Depths approach with Crop Rotation being the key card since running more than one Dark Depths easily exceeds budget restrictions.
I think $70 is going a little far. You can hardly find a block constructed deck $70.

1) yes gsz is better, pact is useful only when you go combo off.
2) sac lands ETB tapped even when sunrised, so no, tendo and prairie are better IMO. If they came untapped when sunrised we could have dozens of options.
3) no, budget won't allow, but...
4) ... taking out some petals we can fetch some sunrises. Will see and post a new deck today/tomorrow.
Personally I would go with straight burn. Here is a deck for $69.46 according to StarCityGames. As for sticking to $70...where are you pricing cards from?

Also, the previously mentioned Dragon deck would certainly be an option. You may want to add (to that given shell) Duresses, Faithless Looting, Dark Ritual, and Simian Spirit Guide.
It would be great if you could give us a list of Vintage-relevant cards you already own, assuming you have anything.

I think that the 3 Shock lands are better than the single extra Magma Jet. That's just me though.
