I'd suggest a reanimate deck. I was humbled when my fully powered painter deck got tooled by a fairly cheap reanimate deck. Granted he was running forces and just one will almost put you over budget, you might be able to come up with a decent replacement. I think he was rolling U/B/W. he was averaging 3-4 turn kills while also doing decent control.
Force spike yea I know its never used and its situational and there are probably better early round counters. No one will expect this on your first game as well. In later games, It will buy you an extra turn considering your opponent will have to hold off to get another land or wait for a counter assuming their casting needs are limited by land. Plus, if your opponent plays a two cost spell with say only two lands and he KNOWS you are playing spikes he definately has a force in his hand :). Arcane denial is one of my favorite counters. Better for casual vintage honestly but thought I'd throw that out there.
None of these counters are possibly the best. Just offering suggestion.
Pretty sure that particular version just bores its opponent to death by taking 10+ minute turns.
Normally, you'd be using the Bauble once your whole library has been milled to put a card from your graveyard directly into your hand, commonly being Pyrite Spellbomb after loading up on mana, so you crack an artifact for mana (usually a couple Lotus Blooms for 3 each of white and red, but here I guess it'd be Lotus Petal, Tinder Wall and the sacrificeable lands), the Bauble puts Second Sunrise on top of the library then into hand, crack the Spellbomb for 2 damage, Second Sunrise and repeat.
... Not seeing a way to win in this list though. Am I missing something?

Deck your opponent to death with Cephalid Coliseum after have him Silenced. Between games you can put Laboratory Maniac and eventually replace Coliseum with some of the utility lands in the SB.
Edit: Thanks Caesar, you beat me to it
cephalid coliseum is the first win condition i think i see. forced them to keep just drawing out their library. thats the only thing i see though, barbarian ring was the first kill condition this style of deck used.

It's not the fall that hurts, it's the sudden stop at the bottom.
the red mage lives by the variance and dies by the variance. May the variance be with you, always.
Some key cards I remember.
Duress
Dark ritual
Reanimate
Dance of the dead
Orim's chant
A few of the good angels
Namely Iona, shield of emeria
Balance
Force of will (I know you can't use that but maybe check out the other early game counters if you plan to win within 5 turns
Possible options?

Sig and Avatar drawn by me.
Use the Cephalid Coliseum to deck them after you Silence them I'm guessing.
