Attention Vintage players!!!
I am hosting a series of monthly Vintage tournaments (Leagues) through Cockatrice. To those of you who have played in Lantern's, Koopa's, or Zirath's, tournaments, I'm sure this sounds familiar.
To the rest of you, basically, I'll run the tournament (gathering/checking deck lists, setting up the bracket, etc.) entirely. You just come, post your cockatrice username and deckhash, then PM me the deck list, and check into the league thread (may be this thread) for the bracket, and arrange a time to play with your opponent. Once arranged, you'd post in the thread so that others may be able to watch.
Games are played on cockatrice, best two of three, etc, just like a normal tournament. Except each round will likely last about a week, depending on how long people take to arrange matches.
I think it will be a great way to get more vintage played, and more players into the format. If the word is spread and enough people join and play, perhaps we can start to do away with some of the misconceptions about Magic's greatest format!
How to sign up
Post your MTGSal Username, followed by your Cockatrice username, followed by your deck Hash/Code. Like so:
Tinfoil Hat--Pyro-- vdo04cv1
Then, PM me your decklist in the Cockatrice format, like so:
1 Black Lotus
1 Ancestral Recall
1 Tinker
SB: 4 Surgical Extraction
SB: 4 Hurkylls recall
etc.
How to use Cockatrice:
Games are played on Cockatrice. Information on Cockatrice can be found at Woogerworks.com.
I made a similar shout out to vintage players awhile ago but received no interest. Don't know if there's enough players out there to carry through a tournament, but I'm game all the same. I'll PM you this weekend after the work week dies down.
I'm interested but there is such a lack of discussion on the vintage threads i normally overlook them lol. I have tried testing but most people I have played run some type of powerless brew and I crush them way too easily. I am now going to look in the vintage forums a little more now.
I don't know about tournaments but there's very often vintage games going on Cockatrice, you can usually find one in around 5 minutes but it may varies with time of the day.
Well if we get 8 people we can start the league and hopefully more users will pick up on it and the tourney will grow. I play pick up games but its near impossible to get an 8-man going

Could we try and recruit people from the program to join the forums?
Yeah, for the tournament, you'd register your deck and play that one deck until the end, then at the next tournament, you could change it or play something else. I'll try to recruit people from cockatrice to join these forums too.
Basically when you post your deck, just PM your list in the cockatrice style like:
1 Black Lotus
1 Ancestral Recall
1 Tinker
SB: 4 Surgical Extraction
SB: 4 Hurkylls recall
etc.
then post your MTGS name, cockatrice name and deck code like so:
Tinfoil Hat--Pyro-- vdo04cv1 (<---that is my deck code for the first tournament)

I realize this might be a bit off topic, but is there anywhere i can find some sort of guide to using cockatrice well? tips for using it? I'm really terrible with the interface and I'd rather not be accidentally showing people what I tutored for during a tournament.

The only other way you could get used to the interface is by using it a lot. Just make sure that you communicate a fair amount while playing, and most of the time you should be fine.
