Like the title says. I just started playing Vintage, and I'm currently looking for help in deciding which deck to build.
A little about what I like to play - I enjoy nonlinear decks with decision trees. It seems like most vintage decks fit this description somewhat given the complexities of the format, and since many have more than one way to win. I also like toolboxy effects - I have fun with decks with a lot of tutor abilities, being able to find answers to many situations.
So given that I like nonlinear strategies, versatile gameplans, and tutor effects, which deck do you all think would be right for me? Perhaps some form of blue-based control? I'm not sure if I want to play MUD, since it seems to be the most popular deck right now, and I hate doing things that everyone else is doing.

I would consider MUD, Dredge, and Oath the most linear decks in Vintage. So those three types should be off your list almost immediately.
You'd probably be the most content playing a U/x "Control" deck or a U/x Storm deck (Gush or Ritual based). I currently run Ubg Meandeck Gush Control, which has four different win conditions main - beatdown with Trygons, Tinker into Blightsteel, Jace, and Vault/Key. I would also consider the modern rendition of Dragon for you - it is a semi-traditional Dragon list in game 1, and has the ability to do a "15-out/15-in" sideboard conversion to a Tezzeret or Jace Control list.

I was driven from this once-great site by abusive mods and admins, who create rules out of thin air to punish people for breaking them (meaning the rule does not exist under forum rules) and selectively enforce the rules that are written on the forum rules. I am currently lurking while deleting 6 years and 2 months of posting history. I will return when ExpiredRascals, Teia Rabishu and Blinking Spirit are no longer in power.
Thanks very much with your help and suggestions guys. I've decided to test the UBg Jace Control route, and I'll probably build Storm as well. Here is what I've conjured up. I'm generally liking how it plays so far:

Any suggestions? Lots of MUD and Storm in my local meta.
Flusterstorms in the board look good against Storm. Perhaps you can run 1 white dual land and some Serenity in the board for MUD. Your list looks good, and similar to lists I've seen doing well. I run SnapControl which shares a good amount of cards with your deck.
I play welder, oath, storm, wizards, and gush. But by far gush is my favorite. I run green sun's zenith with hour, gettin predator, and scavenging ooze + 4 snapcaster, 2 jace, and 11 counters. You have lots of decisions and a ton of draw. I like the green sun as I also enjoy some toolbox and between the draw and snapcasters you have a lot of answers to plays. I run tinker/blightsteel but not timevault but either or both are still good. I could pit my whole list up if you wanted. The deck is really type imo. I also love welder as you get to play some big robots and have a TON of decisions but I don't think the deck is as good as it used to be.
