Must deal damage to a creature or player the turn you cast it if it resolves.
So do cards that target only creatures count or not? You can read that sentence in two ways.
I interpret it as hitting both, otherwise Guerilla Tactics is probably better in versatility over most cases. However, I would say Flame Slash is better than Tactics.
Geez, I'm no big fan of Guerilla Tactics, but making an entire thread to trash Ulka's suggestion that the card's interesting and he might consider it if discard were more of a factor seems a bit much.
Not cool.

465 card Unpowered cube thread. Draft it here and I'll be happy to return the favor.
450 card Peasant cube thread. Draft it here.
I very much hope that it wasn't taken this way, and perhaps we should have considered it.. I thought it was more of a cheeky response to the "there are a 100 better burn spells".
And while I sometimes think that the cards Ulka select are "uninteresting and way below the bar" on first look, they very frequently still lead to good discussions, and I have to reconsider. To get those discussions it is important to be willing to sometimes actually miss with some truly sub-standard cards. After all, you can necer be surprised if you are playing it "too safe" in regards to playability. Keep it up Ulka!
Also I'm gonna veto Heat Ray (non-player X spell lol), Dwarven Catapult, Fanning the Flames, and Flaming Gambit from the first list.
I see that I phrased this a bit awkwardly. My intention was more to say that the second list was out of contention. Heat Ray though, I would say it passes the Guerrilla test. I'd accept a 1 mana tax on killing X/2s for the ability to kill more stuff later.
Either I'm deliberately going out of my way to trash someone that I've never had a negative experience with
Or I'm having fun with a silly exercise based on someone's hyperbole
Do you have any idea how many pointless ranking threads this forum has done just to pass the time? That's almost half of what we do.
//
I don't think I'd ever cube heat ray over 2 mana shock, btw. At least guerilla tactics can trade evenly with stuff at 2 mana.
At 4+ mana removal isn't that good if all you're getting is a 1 for 1.
I don't think street spasm ever gets there either. 6 mana for 2 damage pyroclasm hat can't hit fliers is its best mode.
I'm glad to hear there was no malicious intent. I don't really think the point of how bad Guerilla Tactics needs to be belabored any further than it was in the Random Card thread, but we'll just have to agree to disagree on that.

I dunno, it seemed more like 'haha we're having fun' than '**** you', my mind never went anywhere close to the latter.
Also, i0 immediately jumped in on the fun. If he's not getting offended, then there's really nothing to get up in arms about here.
Ultimately though I think Jovian hits the nail on the head: even something cheeky like this can lead to good discussion.
I dunno man, tone is tough to assume on the internet. I typically don't think people are being outright ********s until they do the outright ******** thing, and this seems more a joke than that.
I mean if the random cube card of the day is something clearly below the threshold of every cube that everyone owns here, there's three options
1. say it's bad, and then go silent for the next 23 hours
2. discuss other similar cards that do the same job but in a playable way
3. make fun of the card for being awful
I go to #2 and #3. TBH I'd prefer if we don't post cards as bad as Tactics in the random thread, but might as well make the most out of them (and on the other end, there's really not much worthwhile to say about Clone so there's some fine middle ground and extra energy spent on hitting the "random" button on Magiccards.info until you find something just weak/strong enough).
Absolutely no hard feelings to Ulla here, but I certainly see why people would sniff a mean tone from the way I've posted about this and some other carsd. It's always meant in good spirits, though, and I 100% hope that Ulla keeps contributing their opinions to our community here.

Oh really?
To be cheeky, I wonder if we can find 100 cards that should be cubed over guerrilla tactics.

To get started, I imagine some X-spells qualify:
But I'm not sure if these would pass the Guerrilla-Test:
Cubetutor Peasant'ish-Funbox
Project: Khans of Tarkir Cube (cubetutor)
My C/Ube on Cube Cobra
+33 and all common

Also: Guerilla-Test is sweet.

They both fit the three bullet points you listed, I guess.
Also I'm gonna veto Heat Ray (non-player X spell lol), Dwarven Catapult, Fanning the Flames, and Flaming Gambit from the first list.
Only one I'd question from Humphrey's is Sarkhan's Rage, but five damage you can do straight to the opponent is probably still a bit ahead.

So far I would say:
.... that got us through the first 400 cards. How many is that? Oh, plus Abrade from HOU early spoilers of course.
.. that gets us up to the first 600 cards, and adds 31 more cards to the list.

15 were marked "ehh maybe", so still 109 total if all of those are excluded.
So, no, don't cube a card that's 96% a two-mana Shock.
Not cool.
