I have not played with Goblin Assault at all, but it looks like it might bring a little inevitability to the right type of deck. I feel like against a deck that is primarily using non-creature spells to deal with creatures will have a really hard time with a continuous stream of 1/1s attacking each turn, but you probably need to be applying other reasonable pressure in that case as well.
I can craft matchups where I want Goblin Assault in my deck, but they feel far too inconsistent, barring the Aristocrat decks that I do not personally support in my cube.
I'm not seeing where I would want Goblin Assault. It feels so dependent on sac outlets. Slow for aggro and hard to go wide with the forced attack. Wonder how it will play out in the MM17 limited environment and if that will change my opinion.
Maybe it's been too long since I've seriously cubed but this seems very solid in a U/R strategy all about removal and using this little guy as a win-con. I think this is going to be stellar in my multiplayer leaning cube.
It attacks for 1 on T4 and is thwarted by Squire. Yuuuuuuuuck.
Attacks for 1 on turn 3 no?
I think it woukd be great in tokens. Coupled with Intangible Virtue, and white lords like Soltari Champion, it could swarm other decks
Yeah, or you could instead just play some (white) creatures on turns 1, 2, and 3--preferably ones that are more mana efficient than a 3 mana enchantment that creates a 1/1 token each turn, starting on turn 4 at the earliest--buff them with Soltari Champion or any other number of things, and attack with that instead.
There will be some situations were it will be good. Sometimes they can't eat your 1/1's if they want to trade with your other guys, and in a race this seems to be excellent. It also "trick upgrades" your burn spells with 1 point sometimes.
But yeah, at 3 mana and then produce a Crazed Goblin the next turn... that doesn't sound too hot. Wish it it didn't have the must attack rider.
I can think of some more uses for the assault. Triggers ETB effects every turn. Triggers Raid every turn. Makes pingers even better cause this can kill their x/2s with a pinger. Can trigger Morbid and Revolt easily.

Also sac fodder for Bloodthrone Vampire and etc.
Ultimately I still think these are a bit too narrow, but hopefully we see a lot of rares shifted down.
Surprised people are even interested in this when Rite of the Raging Storm exists. Turn 3 enchantment that will produce 1x 1/1 every turn that is forced to attack seems terrible, especially compared to just playing dragon fodder or hordeling outburst, etc. Extremely slow and you cant even save up goblins and do an alpha strike. Too underpowered and narrow for my cube. If you were not forced to attack I would be a lot more interested in this I think, but this engine is not worth it to me.

Rite of the Raging storm is overpowered in most cubes. It can take over some games pretgy quickly
Tempting. It's a lot of pressure for 3 mana and gets value in the face of removal, but peasant's fixing isn't good enough to consistently cast this on time. At the very least it's a nice option to have available for multicolor-focused cubes, since Grixis had nothing worthwhile beforehand.
As someone who does play a more multicolored-focused cube than most, I am interested in Sedraxis Specter for a tri-color slot. Strangely enough, it might not even be the second best option for Grixis colors (Slave of Bolas and Rise // Fall), but I think I like it a little better than Rise // Fall as an option. The fact that it has a downside scenario of being a likely 3-damage spell that forces a discard if unearthed makes me like it for any black-based graveyard deck holds a lot of appeal for me.
Slave and R/F are also far more flexible for Dimir/Rakdos decks (I'd happily play R/F for just Rise, probably not the other way though).
Though... I really don't like Slave. Five mana sorcery speed removal??? The Act of Treason effect really doesn't justify the extra cost versus plain old Murder.
I cut out tri-colored cards a long time ago. Too hard on the mana... and for balance purposes it was just a hot mess.
There are obviously a few that I really like, like Rhox War Monk and Sprouting Thrinax, but it's just so hard to reliably cast and they are so often last picks.
Goblin Assault is interesting. I never completely dismiss a card that generates incremental value throughout the game for free. It definitely deserves some testing. May not shine in super aggressive decks, but for the sacrifice decks and perhaps some tempo control decks, it could prove valuable. I will have to give it a few drafts with it in the card pool and see what happens.
