It's been a long time since I adjusted my cube and I now have a friend group that may actually draft with me! Should I try running the cube as is? I feel like I was trying to hard to force "cute" synergies like R/G Shamans and R/W counters. Should I just copy/paste someone elses cube or just run as is and hope for the best? I don't want to have a wonky cube experience as my friends' first experience with cube. Let me know what you all think. Here is a link to the current cube. I've been mulling over the idea of adding some rares that aren't super good like Shadowmage Infiltrator and maybe pain lands to help aggro decks have untapped lands. My mind is just totally out of making a cube mindset that I'm very tempted to take a cube like Leeleu's and just copy it but I feel that's against the spirit of cube and experimentation.
You aren't giving yourself enough credit. I took a cursory glance through your cube and it looks good. Obviously there are cards that some of us don't run in there, but the whole point of cubing is to be the "creator" and the "designer". A wonky cube experience is all relative. If your friends like playing magic then they'll have fun. You can even tell them beforehand to have them give you some feedback after the draft is over. That'll help you get an idea for cards and/or archetypes that aren't being communally accepted.
Copy and pasting is fine for those looking for a starting point to branch off from, but you already have a solid list.
My advice would be to just play your cube as is and let it evolve naturally!
Totally agree with BDog. Just play it as is, get a feel for what works and what doesn't, what you like and what you don't, and modify as you go. If you want to try sprinkling in some rares, I say go for it and see if you like how it impacts the experience, but not before playing it without a couple times to get a baseline understanding of what your cube/group wants/needs.
