I think that realistically, the landcycling part will be the primary modes of these. I'e don't think of Fiery Fall as a bad burn spell. Think of it as Traveler's Amulet with upside. And I agree about Abomination. I just wished there was a reasonable cycle of cards with actual "Basic Landcycling" that could be run as fixing.
Basic Landcycling is great to have with a colorless activation. Let's hope that there are some playable mono-colored cards with the ability.
From the two spoiled cards, though, I actually don't mind the BR one and can see myself testing it. I'm trying to incorporate reanimate more into the available RB archetypes. Six mana is way too much for an ordinary reanimate spell, but haste is just huge. Animating a hasty Eldrazi is quite sick, and just nugging someone for 7 or 8 isn't bad either. Maybe I should just try Torrent of Souls instead already, I don't know. Basic land cycling though, it's so appealing.
I do have the luxury of a big cube and a slightly bigger guild section even then. Plus, I try to maximize the amount of guild-specific archetype cards in each guild section. /disclaimer.
This is one thing I like about having a modern-bordered cube - I get to get hyped for the 2-3 reprints of pre-eighth cards that I now get to add, in addition to the maybe 1 playable new card. Hoping for Battle Screech or Grizzly Fate, but there are lots of nice possibilities.
At a minimum this is an easier to cast murder (of course sorcery instead of instant though), but with the addition of a lot of +1/+1 counters and other types of counters (vanishing, etc) it could make the cut...
We really haven't seen many of the uncommons yet, its hard to say if this will be bad for us or good, like browndog said, one playable card is good for us in a set like this.. I am really hoping for something interesting in boros this time around.. or any of the other *****ty guilds
2B sorcery Murder is a fine card, but below the usual black removal spells. Getting just one card off it turns it into an absurd spell, but I really dislike the fact that you have so little control over when you get the upside.
