I think you guys are crazy. I'd windmill slam Earthquake in Peasant.
It's flexible enough for multiple decks. It's best utilization would obviously be in aggro decks, where they can just tap out and nug you for 4-5 to finish you off. I wouldn't be baffled if a control deck ran it, planning to cast it for 2-3. It's not ideal in the control decks, but it's definitely serviceable.
You can't really play Volcanic Fallout and Pyroclasm in an aggro deck, so it would be nice to have a card that can fit somewhat snug in both decks. Breath of Darigaaz is close, but Earthquake would be better.
As for Hurricane, I still run it and it's mostly used in the mono-red decks (small green splash) or the gruul aggro decks. I think it's fine. I've also sideboarded it in on a few occasions, especially against the W/x spirit token decks.

I might reconsider Zephid's Embrace. Obviously all auras have the chance of getting 2 for 1'd, but if you time this one correctly, you now have a seriously beefy, evasive, control finisher. Probably not horrrible in the blue aggro decks, but control would probably like this the most. I can see end of turning a Drownyard Behemoth or Darksteel Sentinel, then untapping and Zephiding it. So strong. I may have just rambled myself into adding it.
Yeah, I also just added Zephid's Embrace today based on Squirrely's recommendation. If the opponent does not have instant speed removal in response, they likely will not be able to deal with the creature afterwards, as long as the aura remains attached.
Perhaps thats how I'd use it mostly since Im an aggro player at heart. I just like how it can be used as a Blaze to the face as well as a sweeper for midrange and control decks. Its s flexible card as opposed to just a 1 for 1.
I've been very tempted to break rarity to add Earthquake to my Peasant cube for quite a while. I can tell you from running it in my Unpowered cube that it's fantastic having access to a red sweeper that scales from the early to late game, and can be a late game mana sink/finisher in a pinch. It plays really well in Izzet and Grixis control decks, and the symmetry of the card can be broken quite nicely as a splash in a Skies deck. If WotC ever reprinted it as an uncommon, I'd cut any of the fixed damage red sweepers I'm running now for it in a heartbeat.
I'm happy to hear the recommendations for Zephyr's Embrace. I've been dissatisfied with the quality of the control finishers available in blue at Peasant, this sounds like it has some real potential.

Bdog, why would you run earthquake in aggro??? I already don't like running Fireball in aggro that much, but at least it can be used as removal in aggro too. Lunacy

It's a finisher that needs a creature on the table, though. And just landing it on, say, a random Omenspeaker isn't even particularly great.
I like it less in control decks than Benthic Giant, but the blue Embrace is still solid enough if you have decent 3-drops that want to pick up a sweet aura when your opponent is tapped out.
I think an X spell in aggro is fine. Perhaps I overreached when I said that would be its number 1 utility, but I'd still run it as finisher. It's especially great if I'm flooding in my aggro deck. I've played Hurricane in an aggro deck. That effect is solid.
Outside of Ghostly Flicker shenanigans I'm pretty off of running most of these creatures. At 4-5 mana a 1/2, 2/2 or 0/4 with no other immediate board impact feels underwhelming. Chronach being a gold card is also a major strike against it, and Izzet has plenty of playables.
On the other hand I'm wondering if there's any way that going full durdle and running Pull from the Deep is worth a test. It's worse immediately if you're under pressure, probably better in the late game, and synergizes more with instant/sorcery effects than with flicker and other creature effects.
I agree that the best card in U/R for this type of effect is probably Nucklavee, which has done a ton of work in my cube. Pull from the Deep is interesting, but I wonder how much better it is than Concentrate, which nobody plays.
I am currently off running the Wall and the Archaeomancer. I am, however, running Vexing Scuttler, and so far it's doing pretty well. 3/4 mana, get a 4/5 and an instant or sorcery back? Pretty good. He's especially good in Dimir and Simic.
I don't currently run it due to monetary reasons, but I do run Strip Mine and it's been totally fine. Playable in aggro decks for a bit of tempo, not really playable elsewhere.
I've played against enough decks that run between 0 and 2 nonbasics that I'm far less excited about Wasteland over Strip Mine. It'll still probably be worth including for the decks that want it, just at a lower priority.
I don't see a good reason to run Wasteland, but I guess Maze of Ith could bee that reason. In principle I would argue for Strip Mine over it, since it has broader use, but that just has the potential to randomly give non-games.
I can definitely see how it can be annoying in the first few turns, but it's just so low impact for the rest of the game. It's hideous on offense, and on defense it's just ... ok?
It reminds me a tad of Perilous Myr in how it plays out in the first few turns (so I'll give it that), but it's way narrower. At least the Myr can trade with x/1's AND kill an X/2, or trade with X/3's, or dome your opponent for 2 if there are no good targets.
I wouldn't cube it, but I'll give it a nod for making combat annoying for a few turns if played on turn 1.
If your cube has more "pile of 1/1s, as long as some of them don't have evasion" decks than "3/3s and bigger ground idiots" deck, I guess it's on par with Typhoid Rats.

Earthquake is a fine card. Better-than-fine card, even, but it's not like it's night-and-day different from actual Peasant "legal" stuff.

I think I'd like to test Pull from the deep ahead of Archaeomancer and Izzet-guy. The Wall has a chance of actually blocking something at least.
