Anyone tried it? I put this in a BR intro deck I created for teaching purposes and it played very well in that environment. I'v sorta been curious about it since then. Seems like it could do a lot of work if your black/red decks sometimes would be happy to run Trumpet Blast or Dark Triumph. But I guess those decks are more often red/white and are running Rally the Peasants?
I don't think anyone would ever play Gladiator over Snare Thopter or the ETB-Bump in the Night guy, so it's got no hope of cracking my Rakdos section. Not good when your gold card is eclipsed by some middling colorless ones.
It certainly CAN do some work in the right boardstate, but aggro 4's... nah.
I personally don't run it but i have been considering it after my past few games of it in several pauper decks ive been testing. My question is does this translate well into Peasant or does it just float on by?
I haven't cubed Rushing River, but I do cube Undo, and bouncing 2 creatures can give you a huge tempo advantage. I've actually been considering swapping it out for Rushing River, to more distinctly support blue aggro and drop a double blue card. Lands in the graveyard doesn't add much to my cube, but I suppose it does turn on the odd delirium or delve card. Plus it hits enchantments and artifacts which I suppose will be relevant often enough, especially as a second target.
This might be the first instance of a blue bounce-spell having the nonland-rider. It would make sense if so, this wouldn't really be fun if it could hit lands.
they are repeatable but I feel tangle is more abuseable in the tempo style deck so i'd give all 3 consideration if I did end up building the W/G Defenders/Big Butts archtype
I honestly haven't been able to test this but with a control archetype being placed in my Azorius section I feel this paired with white's tappers could lead to some fun decks.
I've always wanted a 'forced attack' card to work, but only because it tickles my inner Johnny or something. I wonder how often it works out in the right deck. I'd guess it is pretty environment / group dependent as to how games play out. If games often end up with complex developed boards, I could see this being ok as a way to clear some of the opposing creatures as combat mainly favours the defender. Still seems pretty conditional though. Using it with tappers sounds fine, and pairing it with other cards like Sleep is funny, but I wonder how good it is without the specific 2-card synergies.
Most cards I don't know have art like that.
The style makes me think it's unplayable jank with flanking phasing and shadow, all while being written in broken English
so I just sorta pass on memorizing them
Well This could be good if people play storm. I know I have used this paired with Rain of filth in edh to storm out but im curious if people ran storm does this seem like a solid card or nah?
Thats a lot of mana for an ability that requires a lot of cards in a way that peasant can't really provide that type of gas on a consistent basis for a deck that isn't there for most/all peasant cubes as is. Even in Magical Christmasland this would receive coal.
Like, if you have an incredibly low power level and want Storm to work I could see adding Basal Thrull or the variants that cost 2B, or even Culling the Weak maybe. But never this.
Scout "saves" for free, mana-wise, and can spend a dead card (your 10th land) instead of blanking an unknown draw step.
Prowler probably better than both. I recall him being a little popular here a few years ago, but no personal experience

Ran Carnage Gladiator for a little bit, but R and B 4-drops just eclipse it and 3 mana is too much to hold up for a blocker, so it was hard to justify over Hellhole Flailer/Ashenmoor Gouger/Shambling Remains.
I would love to see Heat of Battle on a body that lines up better with cube. On even something like a 3/1 Menace for 1RR, I would be try it again.
