Hey so I made a "cards I own" modern cube, it's bad so far, but I am getting on a bulk card buy in a weeks time so I am making a buylist any suggestions will be appreciated. I am not sure about allowing modern cards printed outside regular modern sets into the cube.. I have some of the conspiracy or duel deck cards.
I am mostly trying to keep the cost of the order down to $20 or so, no sensei's diving top please D:. I probably have a lot of the staple cards in my commander decks so if any of them are suggested I guess I could proxy them and move them across. I also own a lot of powerful multicoloured cards but I didn't want to overload the cube with them.. also my multicoloured cards are little biased towards some colours and away from others.
Just to comment on the "Modern cards outside Modern sets" bit, I think it helps to set a clear delineation for yourself of what "Modern" means. I went with the route of "cards printed at common or uncommon in a Modern-legal set", which means no Planechase/Conspiracy/Commander cards, but also no cards that were printed as C/U outside of Modern but only rare inside Modern (notable examples being City of Brass and Clone). I did that mostly for the aesthetic reason of not wanting to run cards with gold rarity symbols in a C/Ube, but most cubers default to "if it was ever printed at common/uncommon, it's fair game", so I'm a bit of the odd one out in that sense.
If you want to include pre-Modern cards that were reprinted with the Modern frame, those supplemental products also have reprints of cards like Wall of Blossoms, Keldon Champion, and Flametongue Kavu.
I was convinced to remove the signets as they make green really bad, now all non green ramp only makes colourless. I just have too many multicoloured cards to just leave them out, particularly when I have so many bad mono coloured cards still. So I went with hybrid isn't multicoloured route. I went through blue and green creatures carefully, I now have more blink than before. black really needs work.
