Do you really get to scry or draw if you cascade into Condescend or Remand? You can't cast them without a valid target, if I'm not mistaken. Similarly, I can't cast Terror when there are no creatures on the battlefield.
EDIT: Do you counter the card with cascade if you really need that scry or draw?
This is the first time I've seen anyone discuss Aether Mutation. The card wasn't even on my radar before this. I may pick up a copy to see how it plays out since several of you seem to be recommending it highly.

Without digging into the comprehensive rules, cascade reads like it is a triggered ability upon casting, not part of the spell resolution. So you would cast the spell, and the cascade trigger would go on top. You MAY cast it, so in the case of condescend you could target the agent, X would be zero so you just get to scry (it's not conditional on the spell being countered). I suppose Remand is how much you care about the agent hitting play that turn, but presumably if you don't play Remand, it remains one of the exiled cards and goes to the bottom of the library.
Cascade triggers upon the casting of the spell, not resolution, so you can Condescend for 0 your own Shardless Agent and scry 2. A cascade trigger led to one of my all time favorite cube plays ever, which was casting Bituminous Blast to kill an opponent's creature in response to a spell they cast, hitting Forbid to counter the spell AND paying the buyback, completely locking up the game.

I get it now. Thank you. I feel a bit silly now, but thanks for taking the time.

Can you name all of the creature types with at least 20 cards? Try my Sporcle Quiz! Last Updated: 6/29/20 (Core Set 2021).
Magmatic Insight looks better in dedicated aggro as it maintains card parity so it does have upside over Faithless looting, but you lose the flexibility of discarding non-lands for a few other archetypes that most cubes support. And you can cast Faithless Looting as a top deck if you just want to get more things in your graveyard for threshold / spell mastery etc.
My buddy wants me to test it tonight. So I'll keep it in. I should be getting a 4 man at least tonight. I'm throwing all the Origins cards in the pool. I'll let you guys know how they play out because I'll be keeping a keen eye of how they do.
I don't know if cycling lands are worth cube slots. That's a spell you could have seen and drafted.
It's possible I don't know how strong that is...
Is it possible that anchor to the aether is better than we've given it credit? I'm wrestling with trying to figure out how good scry 1 is on a card that is just below firing playable.
Don't forget that Anchor to the Aether doesn't have the targeting restrictions Whisk Away has either. Nevertheless I would prefer Repulse to both just as I prefer Remand to Memory Lapse.
I'm slotting in it over Bituminous Blast because I want to support R/B tokens harder and while Bit Blast is a good (and nostalgic, for me) card it doesn't make any R/B archetypes click like the Hellhound does.
I'm probably dropping rix maadi guildmage for the hellhound. I'd like to have at least one card per guild that signals a supported archetype. Rakdos sacrifice is a beast and one of the strongest archetypes in my cube.
after playing with sphinx's tutelage in draft, I sorta want to try it out. Probably not as good (and it's quality in origins draft is dubious in the first place), but it's fun and interesting. Turn 2 looter into turn 3 tutelage can kill someone surprisingly quickly if you have other draw spells in your deck.
I think it is one of those themes that you support with a few cards, and 'go for it' if you see it early in the draft, and prioritise other control cards.
I just had a conversation about it today, but I decided that not getting it down on turn 3/4 is devastating to the value of the card. The average control vs aggro game is probably won by a control deck around say turn 10/11 (total guess) so you'd need a bit of help to get this to be how you're winning. It certainly doesn't help you win so it's like mulliganning with the caveat that if you play nothing on turn three, you get "I win" with suspend 9 attached to it. In the meantime it makes random cards like your opponent's firebolts and eternal witnesses better, meaning you have a harder road to victory than before.
For those who have gotten some testing in with cards from Origins, anything particularly interesting to report?
In my experience with cube and Origins booster draft, I have personally been underwhelmed by both Patron of the Valiant and Calculated Dismissal. Even when a deck seems set up with a lot of +1/+1 counters on creatures, I don't think I've ever seen Patron net more than one additional counter when it enters play, and that's not enough for Patron to crack my white high drops. With Calculated Dismissal, it just does not seem like enough benefit for a conditional 3-mana counter. It's too slow to be a great tempo card or to stop early drops, and it's not enough later in the game to maybe scry 2. Both are very likely to leave my cube soon.
EDIT: Do you counter the card with cascade if you really need that scry or draw?

Thanks! I haven't graduated yet, but it feels like I'm almost done! I appreciate it!
Aether Mutation has been in my cube since the beginning. I don't think it's going anywhere. It's so flexible, and can really turn a game around.
Same as above for this card. Massive tempo swing.

I think the whole cycling land cycle is a bit underrated, actually, especially now with delve being a thing.
