No love for Somberwald Alpha? Turning your outclassed early drops into either "get chipped or trade" seems reasonable on a 4drop with a relevant body and useful activated ability. Note that he pumps himself too.
Here's my changelog I'm posting on my cube's FB page (you guys should make FB pages for your cubes too, it's a great way to organise and get feedback from players).
Origins is the best set for peasant cube Wizards has printed in many years. Weak cards are getting slaughtered and some harder cuts have been made too. These changes will come into effect as I get the cards, so some will be in for next Friday's draft while other (Origin) cards will trickle in after that. There's some more cards I want to play but can't find room for (Boggart Brute, I'm looking at you) which will be included in the expansion somewhere down the line (August?). Let me know how I'm ruining the format by cutting your pet card in the comments.
WHITE: Serran Angel -> Sentinel of the Eternal Watch (SA is the weakest of white's top-end creatures which is a shame because i really like it) Knight of Meadowgrain -> Consul's Lieutenant (It's mostly better and you CC costed cards are too restrictive to play more than 1 at 360 cards) Pianna, Nomad Captain -> Topan Freeblade (I want to tweak the curves a bit. Pianna's value has gone down considerably with the Soltari Champion's uncommon printing in VMA and with the new Lieutenant I'm feeling pretty Ok about cutting him for now. Could be back in the expansion) Master Splicer -> Blessed Spirits (Splicer was a relic of a long abandoned flicker archetype I was trying. Uninteresting card out for one with more potential. Plays with white's enchantment theme too.)
BLACK: Pestilence -> Shadows of the Past (I don't think Pestilence has seen much play, which is a shame. I'll bring it back in the expansion because I at least want to play it a bit more. Shadows is an interesting card that merits testing)
RED: Empty the Warrens -> Magmatic Insight (too cute? Maybe? I've seen it played once and it was decent but the bottom end is so bad and the top end is so Christmas. Magmatic Insight seems neat and I'm happy to try it) Reckless Waif -> Monastery Swiftspear (you guys are wrong Waif is sick this is what I get for asking questions I don't want answered, it'll be back in the expansion! ;_; ) Splatter Thug -> Acolyte of the Inferno (I don't want to cut any of red's 3drops, they're all either sweet cards like Thug, roll players like Cunning Sparkmage or archetype cards like Hissing Iguana. Thug is the most similar card so I'll try swapping it for now)
GREEN: Gravetiller Wurm -> Skysnare Spider (cute synergies make way for efficient fatty) Grizzly Fate -> Conclave Naturalists (Fate could come back if people want to defend it, but I haven't seen it in action. I'm always keen for new cards with this effect and a better Indrik Stomphowler is hard to ignore) Manamorphose -> Somberwald Alpha (don't ask why Manamorphose was in green if you do want a 500 word answer. I'm increasingly disinterested in this card, especially without Empty the Warrens in the cube. I think the Alpha merits testing) Jade Mage -> Undercity Troll (I'm not convinced this card will be really missed. Troll is interesting enough to test) Harmonize -> Gather the Pack (card advantage for card selection + graveyard interaction that still scales into the late game. Wouldn’t be upset to reverse the change if testing proves Gather to be underwhelming)
GOLD/COLOURLESS: Azorius Charm -> Thunderclap Wyvern (This will probably come back when I hash out the cube expansion) Mortarpod -> War Horn (has anybody even played this? Talk about underperforming)
I don't think paying 2 for trample counts as a good ability.
A 4 mana 3/2 unblocked or a 4/3 grounded guy is pretty uninspiring, and his +1 ability only works when blocked. No extra damage (unless you pay 2).
Noob, cloudfin raptor is like 4 tiers higher than phantasmal bear. How did this get voted out of your cube??
I can at least understand entertaining the idea of cutting harmonize, but the new green card looks really poor without spell mastery.
The raptor got voted in, not out. I have a soft spot for the bear, I think its seriously underrated around here.
Making your guys win combat when attavking is sweet, its half lashknife barrier on legs. Turning big creatures that lack trample into tramplers is big game. The trigger is good for small creature aggro while the activated is sweet in rampish decks.
Ive changed the harmonize swap to Vommune with the gods based on player feedback.
After some more analysis, I've updated my considering list and added some more detail for my thoughts.
Very Likely Includes: Consul’s Lieutenant - Great beater and an anthem on a stick, which supports white's main swarm+tokens theme in my cube. Might have to replace knight of meadowgrain just to not have too many WW creatures. Sentinel of the Eternal Watch - This looked so good when it was first spoiled that I specifically left a spot open on cube tutor for it, which is why my cube currently is 449 cards. Jhessian Thief - prowess supports blue's spells matter theme, and drawing cards is also very blue flavorful. With its stats I'm worried that it won't actually hit too often, which might make it subpar. Maybe replace Ninja of the deep hours? Acolyte of the Inferno - I agonized over trying to fit ashmouth hound into my cube, but ultimately it didn't quite make it. 2 damage however makes this card very likely to make it. Boggart Brute - Maybe over stormblood berserker for its increased consistency? Seismic Elemental - Decent stats and a nice ETB ability in red. 5 drops are pretty packed in red though. Skysnare Spider - Nice big fatty and some flying hate, which is the perfect green flavor, as I have given green no flyers. My green 6CMCs are also packed currently, though I'm not sure that Hooting Mandrills and Nemesis of Mortals should count as true 6 drops. Undercity Troll - Nice efficient 2 drop. Maybe over Beastbreaker of Bala Ged? Thunderclap Wyvern - Excellent card for UW flyers. Either over Deputy of Acquittals or Sky Hussar.
I want to try to keep tokens to white, red, and black mostly. It's just not an archetype I'm eager to support in blue, but since they're flyers I'll probably overlook it and include it.
Seismic Elemental - Decent stats and a nice ETB ability in red. 5 drops are pretty packed in red though.
Looking at your cube, you seem to have a lot of mediocre 5 drops in red. I don't currently run anything >4 cmc in red, but Seismic Elemental may be the first. At first glance it appears to be the best red 5 drop available to us and I'm eager to test it.
If you want to cut a non-3-drop from Boggart Brute, I would look at Laccolith Whelp, Ember Hauler, Dragon Whelp, Paragon of Fierce Defiance, Purphoros' Emissary or any of the 5-drops instead. Stormblood Berserker is such a good card. Brute looks very good too, but I wouldn't cut basically the same card that costs 1 mana less for it.
Ember Hauler isn't considered good? Is it because of the double R cost?
Looking at your cube, you seem to have a lot of mediocre 5 drops in red. I don't currently run anything >4 cmc in red, but Seismic Elemental may be the first. At first glance it appears to be the best red 5 drop available to us and I'm eager to test it.
Yeah, the none of the 5 drops are super powerful on their own, but I included them initially because they support various archetypes well. Seismic elemental will probably replace one of them. Do you have any opinions on which are the worst?
The double red cost is most of the problem, but an investment for a bear that needs to kill itself to be better than that, for mana, and it can only take down other bears or small flying guys.. meh.
Pure powerlevel-wise:
Lieutenant (speculative)
Knight
Freeblade
Syndic
Kami (depends on the power of enchantment and other enchantment removal in your cube)
Arrester
madcap skills but both cards function different as one requires another card to work.
Also, these changes stand out for me:
Sentinel of the Eternal Watch --> Radiant, Archangel
Archangel is Serra Angel+
Jhessian Thief --> Tandem Lookout
Lookout is better. Thief is worth including but not by cutting Lookout.
Acolyte of the Inferno --> Splatter Thug
More people seems to make this cut. I think I prefer both in my cube.
You were one of the last stalwarts of aether vial. What made you drop it?
Majikian likes aether mutation, a lot, and if you enjoy that kind of gameplay I'd say keep the weird bounce spell. It's more interesting to use. But I don't really like that kind of gameplay, so I agree.
Wyvern no problem
I don't appreciate landwalk so I'd take undercity troll, but the boa is probably better overall.
As much as I like nemesis of mortals, the spider is too beefy to pass up. However, Centaur glade is SlowCity in my opinion and has had its time in the sun pass.
Cutting a burn spell seems good for you, so losing lightning strike seems healthy.
Acolyte is probably.. slightly worse than splatter thug? It trades with anything that has 3 toughness at the benefit of taking down 4+.
Eh, but it can threaten more damage.. but it dies to more removal...
Hard to say right now.
I definitely would cut the worse of the two between mnemonic wall or archeomancer before I'd cut tandem lookout.
I agree with almost any reason to cut mogg fanatic.
In a direct competition I don't think serra angel's better floor challenges Radiant's high ceiling. An opponent can have a flier and it's still a serra angel (even though I guess it will trade with the rare 3-power-exact flier.) You run almost all of the usable flying token generators, and even have a new one coming in thanks to whirler rogue.
I think the menace guy has really grown on me. Madcap skills is more interesting in a draft and in a deck, but it's got a terrible floor to go with sometimes unreasonable wins. Fine aura for what it's worth, but one card is consistent and the other is flashy.
Consul's lieutenant>Kami of ancient law/Knight of meadowgrain>Topan Freeblade>Syndic of tithes/Azorius arrester
Also, bro, you gotta Kird ape in for tattermunge maniac
Fire Imp
Goblin Heelcutter, although not so much on turn three as it is harassing the opponent into not having effective plays all game
Boggart brute (Ignoring all the walls and nessian asps is really really growing on me.)
Hordeling outburst
Imperial recruiter, but in specific decks. Can be as good as flame imp and heelcutter though.
Splatter thug/Acolyte of the inferno
Vaultbreaker
Fault Riders/Qal Sima Behemoth(somewhat speculative)/Hissing Iguanaur/Cunning Sparkmage/Pyreheart wolf (My love for this card has tempered significantly)
Guttersnipe (It's been a loong while since this has dealt 6 damage)
Fervent Cathar
I've had a bunch of low-creature count games recently other than decks that cast spectral procession, so that probably has a lot to do with it. I'm trimming removal a bit and with a couple of new 1 drops so hopefully it comes back into the fold. I like the card, but a lot of that is memory.
Edit second thoughts
I know I'm pretty late to this discussion, but when was the last time we had a set with so much going on for us? I typically add about 2-5 cards from each set on average. Yesterday, I preordered 23 cards. That's freakin' insane, right?! Heck, this set may well enable two archetypes with GW counters and UR artifacts! I mean...holy crap!
I've also been pretty lazy about cutting underperformers. Origins is gonna be a real shot in the arm!

Can you name all of the creature types with at least 20 cards? Try my Sporcle Quiz! Last Updated: 6/29/20 (Core Set 2021).
blessed spirits: close. my enchantment count isn't high enough to make this good, but i can imagine one day it'll be good enough. consul's lieutenant: card is nuts for 2 mana at uncommon. so many abilities that cc is absolutely worth it.
patron of the valiant: i run very few +1/+1 counter cards, but it's one of those things that can be adjusted if i wanted to. maybe one day. sentinel of the eternal watch: probably the best high end card defensively for white. takes care of two attackers by itself, and doesn't get burned out easily. seems like a good reanimation target as well.
topan freeblade: i like the combination of abilities, and it's on a bear. somehow this card just doesn't make me want to play it, though.
war oracle: lifelink on a decent size body is welcome, but i feel like it'd be hard to find room for this.
calculated dismissal: not being a cc card is great for a counterspell. i think it's better than dissolve, but i'm not sure how that ranks among 3 mana counters. whirler rogue: seems pretty strong as a blue beetleback chief. it even has flying artifact tokens and an extra ability!
acolyte of the inferno: the tension in the card is great. being a bigger ashmouth hound is also pretty good. there's just a lot of competition.
ghirapur gearcrafter: the red sandsteppe outcast is fine. borderline, but again, competition. magmatic insight: i wanted another faithless looting. i'm hoping this is it.
thopter engineer: good synergy with artifacts if that becomes a thing. decent base stats alone. competition though.
rhox maulers: big and tramply and gets bigger. pretty decent for 5 mana.
skysnare spider: pretty sure i'm cubing this. good stats with no effort involved. well worth the extra mana over serra's spider.
undercity troll: another good value bear. might be good enough.
blood-cursed knight: if you can turn it on, it's so good. turning it on might not be easy though.
bounding krasis: good flashy tempo creature, which is kind of what i want in simic. not sure about this guy.
citadel castellan: this creature is huge for 3 mana. and vigilant. connect once and you have combat on lock down. it's a shame selesnya is already ridiculous.
possessed skaab: i feel like this is really good. might just make it in, since i do like recursion. thunderclap wyrven: i have 30 flying creatures / token makers in u/w already, so maybe going deep on skies is worth with this and favorable winds.
chief of the foundry: i desperately want to cube this. i love the card.
war horn: orcish oriflamme for both red and white decks. i feel like there's enough anthem effects already though?
foundry of the consuls: probably good. getting midnight haunting on a land is strong, since i already run the card.
You were one of the last stalwarts of aether vial. What made you drop it?
I don't know that I was so much a stalwart of Vial, but more a stalwart of a larger artifact section. Peasant tends to be lacking in really good artifacts, so most lists have a significantly smaller colorless/artifact section than you'd expect to see in a rare cube of the same size. I just included Vial because it seemed like a fine enough card and I needed slots to take up.
To be honest I don't get to play this cube enough to know how good Vial is or could have been. It was a big standout when I posted that initial upsize to my artifact section, so it was my choice for an artifact cut.
Majikian likes aether mutation, a lot, and if you enjoy that kind of gameplay I'd say keep the weird bounce spell. It's more interesting to use. But I don't really like that kind of gameplay, so I agree.
How would you rank my current Simic section? Trygon Predator, Horizon Chimera, Aether Mutation, and Fleetfeather Cockatrice. Trygon and Chimera feel like the cards that have to be there. The other two I'm not so sure how to rank. I've been playing Magic for a very long time, so I know how good Aether Mutation can be. I'm just not sure if I'd rather have that effect or the new flash creature. Then again, do I really want three flash creatures in my Simic section?
I don't appreciate landwalk so I'd take undercity troll, but the boa is probably better overall.
I tend to compare my list to a few others when making cuts because I don't get to cube with this one as often as I'd like. River Boa was my cut here because only me and klug are running it from the lists I compare to. (you, n00b, majikian, klug, and BrownDog)
As much as I like nemesis of mortals, the spider is too beefy to pass up. However, Centaur glade is SlowCity in my opinion and has had its time in the sun pass.
Centaur Glade can be slow, but I've seen it take over games. I think it plays as closely to a planeswalker as we're gonna see at uncommon. It also gives me something to do with my mana in my ramp decks. I do run significantly more artifact rocks than most.
Cutting a burn spell seems good for you, so losing lightning strike seems healthy.
I actually found it quite odd in my comparisons to see so few people running both Lightning Strike and Searing Spear. Spear had better art, so it gets to stay.
Acolyte is probably.. slightly worse than splatter thug? It trades with anything that has 3 toughness at the benefit of taking down 4+.
Eh, but it can threaten more damage.. but it dies to more removal...
Hard to say right now.
The two are probably so similar in power level that running either will not make that much of a difference.
I definitely would cut the worse of the two between mnemonic wall or archeomancer before I'd cut tandem lookout.
The wall is probably better for the decks that want this effect over the 1/2. Maybe Archaeomancer is the cut for this one.
I agree with almost any reason to cut mogg fanatic.
It actually makes me a little sad to see this guy go, but I was literally the last one among the cubes I compare to that was still running it. It's hard to say good-bye.
Maybe you're right. It just feels blasphemous to not run Serra Angel in a peasant cube.
I think the menace guy has really grown on me. Madcap skills is more interesting in a draft and in a deck, but it's got a terrible floor to go with sometimes unreasonable wins. Fine aura for what it's worth, but one card is consistent and the other is flashy.
I guess I'm adding yet another good 3-drop to the mix, then.
Consul's lieutenant>Kami of ancient law/Knight of meadowgrain>Topan Freeblade>Syndic of tithes/Azorius arrester
It was was hard to guage the ranking on this between my cube comparisons because it was all over the place. I was leaning toward cutting Syndic and Arrester to make room for these two, but I'm still not even sure that Freeblade isn't wose than those guys.
Also, bro, you gotta Kird ape in for tattermunge maniac
Actually, Kird Ape is currently in that slot. I only had one Tattermunge Maniac and it had to go into the rare cube. So Kird Ape stepped up to the plate to fill the sleeve until I can get a second Maniac.
Here's my changelog I'm posting on my cube's FB page (you guys should make FB pages for your cubes too, it's a great way to organise and get feedback from players).

Thunderclap Wyvern - Excellent card for UW flyers. Either over Deputy of Acquittals or Sky Hussar.
Maybe Includes/Will Consider:
Ampryn Tactician - Support's white swarm theme but might not be good enough.
Kytheon’s Tactics - Compete's with righteous charge, a card that is on the edge of being included.
Swift Reckoning - Decent white removal, which is where I want my white removal.
Topan Freeblade - Efficient, but 2 drops are packed in white.
War Oracle - Decent.
Anchor to the Æther - Decent spell for Blue spells matter. Sorcery is only thing holding this back.
Calculated Dismissal - Another blue spells matter card.
Whirler Rogue - Good, but not sure if tokens is something I want to give blue.
Dark Dabbling - Decent black cantrip
Necromantic Summons - A good "target any graveyard" renanimation effect, which is something I was looking for.
Shadows of the Past - Interesting, but is it too slow?
Shambling Ghoul - efficient but unexciting.
Touch of Moonglove - Very black flavorful combat trick.
Goblin Glory Chaser - Swingy but pretty good.
Conclave Naturalists - Good, but I'm not sure if I want another naturalize effect.
Gather the Pack - Interesting and very green flavorful.
Bounding Krasis - Maybe over Kiora's Follower or Horizon Chimera?
Possessed Skaab - Interesting but Dimir is packed
War Horn - I think I like Thunderstaff better for its extra utility.
No longer considering
Send to Sleep - Already enough of this effect around with frost breath and crippling chill
Akroan Sergeant - too close too splatter thug

I'm surprised at Sky Hussar never getting to draw cards. Its ETB effect seems like would make it easy enough to do once at least.
Yeah, the none of the 5 drops are super powerful on their own, but I included them initially because they support various archetypes well. Seismic elemental will probably replace one of them. Do you have any opinions on which are the worst?

acolyte of the inferno: the tension in the card is great. being a bigger ashmouth hound is also pretty good. there's just a lot of competition.
ghirapur gearcrafter: the red sandsteppe outcast is fine. borderline, but again, competition.
magmatic insight: i wanted another faithless looting. i'm hoping this is it.
thopter engineer: good synergy with artifacts if that becomes a thing. decent base stats alone. competition though.
rhox maulers: big and tramply and gets bigger. pretty decent for 5 mana.
skysnare spider: pretty sure i'm cubing this. good stats with no effort involved. well worth the extra mana over serra's spider.
undercity troll: another good value bear. might be good enough.
blood-cursed knight: if you can turn it on, it's so good. turning it on might not be easy though.
bounding krasis: good flashy tempo creature, which is kind of what i want in simic. not sure about this guy.
citadel castellan: this creature is huge for 3 mana. and vigilant. connect once and you have combat on lock down. it's a shame selesnya is already ridiculous.
possessed skaab: i feel like this is really good. might just make it in, since i do like recursion.
thunderclap wyrven: i have 30 flying creatures / token makers in u/w already, so maybe going deep on skies is worth with this and favorable winds.
chief of the foundry: i desperately want to cube this. i love the card.
war horn: orcish oriflamme for both red and white decks. i feel like there's enough anthem effects already though?
foundry of the consuls: probably good. getting midnight haunting on a land is strong, since i already run the card.
this set is nuts for us btw lol.
I tend to compare my list to a few others when making cuts because I don't get to cube with this one as often as I'd like. River Boa was my cut here because only me and klug are running it from the lists I compare to. (you, n00b, majikian, klug, and BrownDog)
Centaur Glade can be slow, but I've seen it take over games. I think it plays as closely to a planeswalker as we're gonna see at uncommon. It also gives me something to do with my mana in my ramp decks. I do run significantly more artifact rocks than most.
I actually found it quite odd in my comparisons to see so few people running both Lightning Strike and Searing Spear. Spear had better art, so it gets to stay.
The two are probably so similar in power level that running either will not make that much of a difference.
The wall is probably better for the decks that want this effect over the 1/2. Maybe Archaeomancer is the cut for this one.
It actually makes me a little sad to see this guy go, but I was literally the last one among the cubes I compare to that was still running it. It's hard to say good-bye.
Maybe you're right. It just feels blasphemous to not run Serra Angel in a peasant cube.
I guess I'm adding yet another good 3-drop to the mix, then.
It was was hard to guage the ranking on this between my cube comparisons because it was all over the place. I was leaning toward cutting Syndic and Arrester to make room for these two, but I'm still not even sure that Freeblade isn't wose than those guys.
Actually, Kird Ape is currently in that slot. I only had one Tattermunge Maniac and it had to go into the rare cube. So Kird Ape stepped up to the plate to fill the sleeve until I can get a second Maniac.
