Oh damn, major hype just for the simple value of exploiting mana dorks in GB.
Exploiting stuff is going to be a great time. I'm excited about it enough to research if we can go deep on the archetype. What can we run that we want to sacrifice, but we don't feel too bad about running on their own? What else works with this stuff?
Perilous myr - great card to cube in general as a turn 2 play for any control deck sylvok lifestaff, just a reminder this is probably in your cube already
I didn't see it playing in my cube yet, but after some annalysis I think I will watch Ojutai's Summons one time cubing, and then undo the replace for Gryff Vanguard.
So it's just at turn 8, at its best, when Ojutai's Summons starts making more damage than Gryff Vanguard.
I think the card that Gryff's provide is waaaay more useful. Spells matter is not a thing in my cube yet, so that is not even a point for Ojutai's.

well, Summons wants to be a control card, but fails to give real board presence. Too slow for pressure, too weak for control. But vanguard is really squishy as well. Id probably run Ghost Ship or even Azure Drake over both.

At least on paper, I see:
Turn 5: Cast
Turn 6: Ojutai's makes 2 damage, Gryff 3 damage. (2vs.3)
Turn 7: Ojutai's makes 4 damage, Gryff 3 damage. (6vs.6)
Turn 8: Ojutai's makes 4 damage again, Gryff 3 damage. (10vs.9)
So it's just at turn 8, at its best, when Ojutai's Summons starts making more damage than Gryff Vanguard.
