I like the card a lot and I want to include it but having thought more about it during the course of that post, I am not sure if there is a spot for a 4th card draw spell. There probably is, and if I find it then this is the first card that will take the spot. The upside on this thing is obviously insane.
I do accept your logic about an increasing in ease-of-casting spell. Like you, and I assume others worried about space, finding a slot may be problematic. I will include it in my 9th&10th player expansion set though.
I used to run Mysteries becaus3 I have a love affair witb the common fetches and ran all 7 previously.
Embodiment of spring is not that terrible of a card. 0/3 for U that can search for a basic for tap 1G is not an overall bad effect. The problem is finding room for it.
I'm really liking this set. The rares and mythics are mostly let downs but the commons and uncommons so far are fairly good and we have about 70 more commons to go. Seems like a set that is good for pauper/peasant cubes and for limited.
Totally forgot about Petals, it is even in my "to be considered pile".
The more I contemplate Cruise, the more I see it working out in Mid and Ramp. However, if 4 raw card draw spells too much? Blue is really becoming Tempo oriented with well priced beaters, efficent low cost spells, and there just seems to be less need for 4cc+ Sorceries that do not impact immediately; sans 7+ available mana.
I have my eye on heart-piercer bow, molting snakeskin, disowned ancestor, alabaster kirin, dazzling ramparts, and sultai soothsayer; hopefully they're common. I'm actually the most interested in disowned ancestor because I've been looking for interesting early drops for control decks with black. Seems like he can hold down the fort and pick up a counter here or there, and then start attacking after turn 10 or whatever. GOD DAMMIT SORCERY SPEED ABILITY CAN'T BLOCK AND PICK UP A COUNTER MAN THAT SUCKS
The green delve creature suffers from there not really being that much self-mill at common. Black and blue have a fair amount of self-mill. Green only has dredge and common green dredge is rarely good except for the aura.
I like this card too for the same reason- this is Fangren Hunter with upside, the Hunter was already on the verge of playability. The option to have it cost 4 mana or less in the late game pushes it past playability and it is probably pretty strong.
I really like the disowned ancestor B for a 0/4 is really good in BX control especially that it has outlast 1B. It dodges a lot of burn and black removal and blocks nonflying things easily the first few turns. When he cant block as well you can start outlasting it turning it into a threat. I'm going to at least try it.
Alabaster Kirin is probably better defensively than the various 2WW Flying First Strike dudes we already have access to. Feat of Resistance is the midway between Test of Faith and Shelter, which is pretty cool and likely cubable. Mardu Hordechief is good but probably not better than Attended Knight, I think the First Strike is more likely to matter than the 3rd point of toughness and sometimes you just won't trigger raid. Taiyam's Scheming if this cantripped I'd be all over it even at sorcery speed; since it doesn't I think I'd look more towards Careful Study if I wanted a card like this to enable delve. One to bear in mind, though. Treasure Cruise I still really like this and will be trying to find room. Blue is always tough to find room in though. Bitter Revelation still not quite going to make it into my cube without having a bit more support for a graveyard deck, but I like it more after taking a second look at it. Mardu Skullhunter is nice, I'm not sure if it's better than the "evasive, can't block" 2-drops we already have even if you do get to trigger it. Will test though. Shambling Attendants with a practical cost of 4-6 mana, this ranges from very good to pretty solid. The extreme weakness to bounce is a little suspect but this may make it in. Sultai Scavenger I think I like this less than Attendants but it is a pretty big flyer for black. Barrage of Boulders is interesting, but not really worth the 3rd mana to have the versatility of Electrickery and Falter. Pass. Tormenting Voice I like, but I am pretty sure Faithless Looting is better than this and I don't know if we need another card like that for red. Great one to keep in mind though, and better than the other options in most common situations. Valley Dasher I like this guy because unlike Riot Piker, it's basically always going to get in for at least 2. With the great 2-drops we just got in M15, we are less in need for good cards to fill this slot, but my hopes are high for this guy. Hooting Mandrills is pretty great as we've discussed.
The 6-drop wedge morphs are all pretty reasonable cards, with Ponyback Brigade and Efreet Weaponmaster being the best, but I will not be including them because I don't think any of them really warrant the 3rd color and I dislike Morph in general.
All in all I think we made out pretty well here and there are a lot of borderline interesting cards in the set to keep in mind.
Haven't posted on here in a while (grad school and all that), but here are my thoughts on the new set. Cards I'm initially interested in taking a second look at:
Ainok Bond-kin - Most likely a bit too slow, but this thing dominates games after a couple activations. Alabaster Kirin - It's a fine card, but I'm not sure there's room. Maybe I'll test it in place of Plover Knights or something. Feat of Resistance - I really like the effect, but 2 CMC is a bit unfortunate. Singing Bell Strike - Almost always a much, much better Claustrophobia. This is definitely going in. Bitter Revelation - Not too exciting, but very good. Very likely going in. Shambling Attendants - Solid card, assuming it doesn't get bounced and you fill your graveyard. Testing this. Sultai Scavenger - Better than Shambling Attendants, but similar downsides. Testing this. Valley Dasher - This is fine, but just kind of boring. I'll probably take out something like Emberwilde Augur for this. Hooting Mandrills - I don't think this is anywhere near a staple, but it's a fine card.
Also, the better guildgates are replacing guildgates for me.
I think the best cards out of the set are pretty clearly Singing Bell Strike, Bitter Revelation, and the land cycle. This set has a lot of interesting, borderline cards. Unfortunately, however, none of the set mechanics really seem that great for the types of cards that pauper cubes want. Some of the Delve cards probably come the closest.
The 3color guys would be interesting to add, if you want to support a deeper multicolor section, but otherwise the mana requirements just make them bad.
Outlast was interesting on the first look, but its awful slow.
It strikes me as an interesting fact, that it seems like the delve cards would be good, but worse for each other delve card you include in your deck. They are anti-sinergic with each other, if you don't have enough support for that kind of ability, support that in cube will never be enough. If you only have one delve card in your deck, there are pretty good chances that you will cast it for a risible cost. But each aditional delve card has less chances of being cast by a reasonable cost in that way.
In other words, delve redundance works inversely to redundance with most other cards. Diminishing returns at its best (or worst).

Bloodfire guy is worse than a bunch of cards that are also not very good like spur grappler, regathan firecat and the 2R 3/1 bloodthirst. I also think he is worse than hissing iguanar

I will be buying a copy of Bloodfire Expert in the small hope of having enough incentives for him later on, but I don't plan to use him right now because he doesn't compare well to the Red 3-drops I already have. If you really want a 3/1 3-drop in Red, I like Hissing Iguanar, Spin Engine, and Vulshok Replica more.

If it sacs for blue mana it would be interesting. Green has enough mana fix.

Rush of Knowledge is in my tier2 cube and i usually cast it for 4-5 cards, you cant compare that.
Petals of Insight is better than Brilliant Plan (paper-uc) or Mysteries of the Deep btw

valley dasher
tormenting voice
bitter revelation
Probably going to use:
alabaster kirin
disowned ancestor
Maybe going to use:
Abzan guide - would probably mostly show up in green based decks with lots of fixing, which already have tons of options. But this thing is like common baneslayer angel
abomination of gudul
molting snakeskin
hooting mandrills
dragonscale boon - feral invocation in my experience is a very good card. Four mana is a lot for a combat trick, but I can see the additional untap making a difference in a race situation. Best case scenario you run over a blocker, upgrade your guy to a serious threat, and deter their next attack.
alpine grizzly
treasure cruise
singing bell strike (my blue is not very aggrotempo-y but this seems good for that)
force away
mardu hordechief
ainok bond-kin

The most interesting card ist Hooting Mandrills, which will replace Festerhide Boar in my Tier1
The other Delve guys are way too overcosted to risk a bounce, imo.
Treasure Cruise - probably better than Petals of Insight especially if you run looters,
Singing Bell Strike - better Claustrophobia,
Bitter Revelation -solid draw+gy interaction
Mystic of the Hidden Way - very solid
will go into Tier2
Molting Snakeskin probably too
Whirlwind Adept hexproof is such a strong mechanic, but toughness 2 might be too weak. Limits it to the Aura/Hexproof Archetype
Mardu Hordechief - solid, but worse than Attended Knight imo. Whites CC3 is pretty stuffed.
Mardu Skullhunter - tough to play on curve, needs to be playtested
The 3color guys would be interesting to add, if you want to support a deeper multicolor section, but otherwise the mana requirements just make them bad.
