Information:
This thread is dedicated to ranking your top 20 cards from each section. Anyone may participate (and the more, the better) in voting for the most powerful cards in each color. To vote, simply list out 20 cards from the current chosen color in order from best to worst. Each card will get a certain amount of points depending on what rank you listed it as (1st gets 20 points, 2nd gets 19 points, etc. At the end of the voting period, the results will be posted in a separate 2014 Peasant Power Ranking Results thread.
Card Eligibility
For the sake of consistency, any card that has been physically printed (no online cards) prior to M15 is valid as a common or uncommon. All the way from Limited Alpha up to Conspiracy are allowed. This means M15 is not valid for this voting. Cards that have been shifted from Rare to Uncommon are still valid. As long as there is a single physical printing of the card as an uncommon, it is valid for voting.
Although I am not including online downshifted cards, feel free to list them outside of your top 20. with a limit of 3. They will be included in the 2014 Peasant Power Ranking Results thread as "Online Rarity Downshift Honorable Mentions.
Card coloring will follow however you feel. If you would like to list Porcelain Legionnaire as a colorless artifact, then go for it. This would mean that cards such as Lingering Souls can be either White or Orzhov, Similarly, Kird Ape can be either Red or Gruul. Whichever you prefer. Whatever way you want to vote is just fine.
Based on community votes, card coloring are as follows: Cards with phyrexian mana is colorless. Cards with offcolor flashback/kicker costs are multicolor. Kird Ape is Red/Green.
Please refer to the voting spoiler on how to list your cards.
Schedule
This will be a very loose schedule, but I would like to have it done in a semi-timely manner.
White - July 15 to July 22
Blue - July 22 to July 29
Black - July 29 to August 5
Red - August 5 to August 12
Green - August 12 to August 19
Multicolor - August 19 to August 26
Colorless/Land - August 26 to the end of time
Voting
Here is an example of how you would rank your cards:
In this list of cards, Counterspell would receive 20 points, while Talrand's Invocation will receive only 1. This point system will be used to find out the average top 20 cards per color.
Because Thalakos Drifters was printed as a rare in Exodus and reprinted as an uncommon in Vintage Masters (http://magiccards.info/vma/en/97.html), he would be shown in the results thread as an honorable mention.
I'm super glad someone's trying to do this again. It should be a great resource, once finished.
I know it's early, but I'll go ahead and post my white choices. The order is tentative. Unfortunately, I have no experience with Mother of Runes, Cenn's Enlistment, Prison Term, and likely some other very strong cards, so they won't appear here. Here they are, from #1 to #20:
Card Eligibility
For the sake of consistency, any card that has been physically printed (no online cards) prior to M15 is valid as a common or uncommon in any set.
I'm sorry my friend. Although Pianna, Nomad Captain was listed as an uncommon in Vintage Masters, online sets do not count. The physical printing of this card was as rare, making it not valid for this voting. Do you perhaps have another card you'd like to slip into your rankings?
--
I think that for the purpose of this process, Oblivion Ring and Banishing Light are the same card. My reasoning is because of the people who lurk the forums/new to the cubing scene would benefit more from a list of 20 unique cards vs 18 cards unique cards and 2 extremely similar cards. If you do perhaps have Oblivion Ring and Banishing Light in your list of top 20 cards, please go back up and edit it. This will make the number crunching process a little easier. Thanks guys!
Keep the votes coming. The more votes we have, the more accurate our list will be!
As do I. And thus, the ranking of Oblivion Ring and Banishing Light reflects it. What I find a bit funny is how much higher than anyone else I ranked a certain Tribal Giant Sorcery, but I stand behind the idea that it is an absolute bomb despite sitting a bit higher on the curve than most things.
I'll be interested to see if Banisher Priest takes over for Fiend Hunter next year (I assume it's too recent to garner a lot of support this time around).
Because you were interested, I can safely say that Banisher Priest is doing a decent amount better in the rankings against Fiend Hunter this year.
And yet there are a considerable amount of us that do. Not everyone is playing un-cards and not everyone is including cards printed with questionable rarities like (U2) with Serendib Efreet (Or Triskelion printed as an uncommon in a foreign set with a minute print run). Vintage Masters is an official release from wizards. To ignore these downshifts is in my opinion doing a disservice to effectively evaluate the available card pool to peasant.
Im not attempting to be insubordinate here, but I really don't want to remove Pianna, Nomad Captain from my list because I think it's a white staple. I'll be having this issue in the future when I will want to vote Kezzedrix and Dark Hatchling for black, and Goblin Trenches for Boros.

I agree with lordfeather on this one, but really I think it comes down to personal preference. Maybe we can have a poll to see whether or not to include online-only rarity downshifts?
I would also prefer the current rules because they allow the results to be applicable for everyone, as inscho noted. Maybe there should be something like an honorable mention for the 3 most powerful cards per category which were omitted due to such concerns? Then, the people who do include online releases could look those cards up.
This was tough. I'm pretty happy with how 1-10 look, but 11-20 are less concrete to me. Also, I'm onboard with just doing cards that have been physically printed at common/uncommon since this is the closest thing to a universal definition of "Peasant" as we have. Pianna would probably make my list if we were including online rarities.
I'm not changing it to "online downshifts included," but if you want to list a few online rarity downshifts outside of the top 20, I'll drop them into the results thread.
Maybe there should be something like an honorable mention for the 3 most powerful cards per category which were omitted due to such concerns? Then, the people who do include online releases could look those cards up.
I like this idea. This would allow other people to see what are included from online downshifts.
Voting will still be done with a top 20 common/uncommon physically printed cards from Limited Alpha to Conspiracy, but I will include any online downshifted cards in the results thread. It is not a separate voting section. Just list off your top online downshifted cards from any online set, with a limit of 3 per color. I will list them in the results thread as honorable mentions.
I'll update the original posting today.
In the meantime, I also kiiinda agree with Leelue on the strict voting process, but can't decide. Cuz Although Porcelain Legionnaire is white, I surmise that many of use play him in decks that have no white producing mana sources.
Very similar feeling with Kird Ape; Although he is clearly red, I don't think I've ever seen him played in a non red/green deck.
Even with flashback, the coloring can be confusing. I personally list Momentary BlinkandLingering Souls as white, but not everyone does this.
The only offcolor kicker costing card that I can think of is Jilt, and I haven't ever seen that card played as a blue card. I made a few polls for everyone to vote on. Because this 2014 Power Rankings aren't based of my opinion, I'll take a strawpoll and see what the community thinks. The winner of the vote will determine that.

After thinking about it, I bumped Feudkiller's Verdict up quite a bit on my list. It's definitely one of the biggest game breakers when it's dropped and can completely change a game around.
I'm not at all convinced that I'm as knowledgeable as any of the rest of you since you've all been at this a lot longer, but I'm going to give this a whirl anyway. Should be a fun exercise for me. Here goes nothin':
01 Swords to Plowshares
02 Mother of Runes
03 Path to Exile
04 Banishing Light
05 Cloudgoat Ranger
06 Banisher Priest
07 Shrine of Loyal Legions
08 Harm's Way

14 Midnight Haunting
15 Lashknife Barrier
16 Seraph of Dawn
17 Flickerwisp
18 Sunlance
19 Master Splicer
20 Nyx-Fleece Ram
If we don't end up allowing cards with off-color flashback like Lingering Souls, then move everything behind it up a rank in my list and slide Glimmerpoint Stag in at #20.
Edit: brought in Nyx-Fleece Ram at the #20 spot. It's been unbelievably good every in single game it's made an appearance. I don't know why more people haven't been talking about it. It's been insane for my group.
My 360 Peasant+ Cube!. Modern borders where possible, usually with the newest (or "best") art, and always the most readable card text. I also run all 10 painlands. My playgroup is super casual, as we have a fair number of newer or less experienced players. Typically we draft with 4 to 6 people, using 5 packs of 9.
