Majikian brought this card up to me a few weeks ago, and it's been something I've been thinking about. It has an inevitability that pretty great, and red is the most aggressive color in Cu/be. Is it any better than something like Flames of the Blood Hand?
It seems like it could be a passable poor-man's version of Sulfuric Vortex. My main issue is that it helps aggro more against control than midrange, and the latter is usually the tougher matchup.
After some quick thoughts, I think I'd rather have Acidic Soil or even Flame Rift most of the time since you can play them to burn someone out directly from your hand.
Spellshock is interesting. I would say that if you aren't pushing a spells matter theme in Red that my only argument would be that it isn't a good top deck at all if you're behind on board. I think about things like Sprout Swarm and Lingering Souls/Battle Screech that get a lot of their value from being cast multiple times and Spellshock is really good against them.
I am going to pick up a copy and at the very least stick it in my Potential Playables Box.
