I guess it depends. Doesn't sound like a bad idea if you want to keep certain build-arounds always in the pool for example. Or have a fixed amount of removal available. Concerns like that. But a lot of us do not draft the entire cube every time anyways, and that works fine, even if variance may cause certain colours to be worse in some drafts, better in others.
It also asks a fair bit of you as a cube manager logistics-wise to keep the cards separate.
With Unstable coming this December, what do you guys think about adding the new Silver-bordered cards? Is it fine as long as they are reasonable? If there are more cards like [[sword of dungeons & dragons]], it could be really interesting!
I hope there will be some cards in the category of Blast from the past, Booster Tutor and Who // What // When // Where // Why(P(hotlink working)<0.05), Mise. I.e. cards that are kinda black-bordered but do things that either are too complex, doesn't really work in the rules, or just have weird flavour. What I have zero interest in are cards that involve speak-patterns Carnivorous Death Parrot, Goblin Mime, physical activity Standing Army, what clothes you wear Hurloon Wrangler, Ladies Knight, etc. I guess everyone will have their boundary between funny-silly, groaningly accepting-silly, and this-isn't-magic-anymore-silly. So be aware how your playgroup will react to the presence of these cards. They are not always popular.
Tangent: Symbol Status could be the best green card if you have a massive variety of different basics. It's usual WCS is 4 1/1s for 2GG, and typically you're getting way more than that. It's an all-star in powered cube, it would totally rock in peasant too.
Random note but if you want to expand to more cards than an even 360 for a draft pod, but you still want every card in the cube to be seen, Lore Seeker effectively adds another pack to every draft, allowing 8 people to draft a 375 cube with no leftovers.
And on another random note... when did we get so popular?

I think when new sets come out peasent and pauper are much more likely to have action. Uncommons especially have got very strong recenly so there is much more to dicuss when a new set comes out. Playing modern peasent makes every spoiler season more exciting :).
Hitting creatures is a huge difference between this and the Alchemist.
Also the difference between 2 and 3 mana is huge. Like, add a colorless mana to a lot of cards and see how much worse they get. Young Pyromancer, Delver, Llanowar Elves, etc. there are very few creatures that don't get noticeably better when you reduce their cost by 1 at that point in the curve.
That card still looks way worse. I'd rather take the damage and have the engine self-contained and controlled by my decisions alone and not on whether or not I have cards.
BUT, to be fair, I thought you were saying it sucked in your first post, so feel free to ignore mine lol reading full sentences sometimes can be a herculean task
Heya everyone, I'm a player that's very new to the idea of a cube and I have a fairly active group of about 5-7 players who want to get into the format. I'm having some issues coming up with ideas on my own and I'm really trying to look for a simple'ish cube design to start off with...ideally start with someone's list and over time our group can tune it from there. But I'm not sure how to look up prices on cubetutor and I'm not sure what budget I should be expecting when looking for a relatively weak peasant cube, I'm also trying to find a cube fairly up to date as I think Ixalan has some very powerful cards I'd like to include. If anyone has any insight to offer I'd be happy to accept it, thanks!!
Well, there is a "price" tab on cubetutor, but that might take stuff like foils into account.
Probably not the most streamlined way:
If you click "view list", there is a tab to export the list as plain text. Do that, open that text file, and copy paste everything into an excel file. Then put "1" in each cell to the right of each card name. Copy everything and paste it to a new .txt file in notepad or other simple editor that removes most formatting, so you get a long list of
1 Goldmeadow Harrier
1 Accorder Paladin
etc.
Next. Go to TCGplayer.com and scroll to the bottom. At the bottom of that page, there are a collection of links, one of which is "Mass Entry", under "Buy with us". Click "mass entry". Copy paste your list of cards and numbers into the mass-entry field and press "add to cart". Then hit "Cart Optimizer". Now you get a prize.
It can also be useful to just use the Price tab in cubetutor, and then sort the cards by price. This will easily reveal if there are some single oddities that pull up the price (Like Old Man of the sea), or if certain foils are significantly expensive.
Yea I did all the exporting/mass entry options earlier, but TCG player kept giving me an error. "Unexpected errors have occurred." I just assumed there was an error with how many cards I was trying to add at once. Thanks for the advice though,I'm continuing to look over various cubes in the hopes of finding something that works for our needs. Idk if it's reasonable or not, but we're trying to spend no more than $265. Also, where do I find this tab for cubetutor? I can't seem to find it anywhere...thanks again!
Oh, Do NOT use that tab for cubetutor. When I ordered my cards on TCG player (which took forfreakinever to balance the carts out) it over halfed the cost from cubetutor's estimate. It thought some penny cards were worth whole dollars.
It's been a while since I updated my cube. I just put together a list of stuff I'm interested in from the last few sets, though as I was looking through card lists I realise my cube tutor isn't up to date and some of these are already in my cube (and some stuff on cubetutor must already have been removed).
It includes Ixalan cards, but a bunch of others as well. I haven't thought about what I'm going to remove to make room; interested in thoughts on experience with those older cards before I think about . I lean more towards archetype cards or synergies, and I'm probably not going to find room for all of these (as I write this I'm thinking Gust Walker is a fine card but doesn't really stand out against my existing aggro cards).
It's also just much easier to shuffle everything together
