I want to run either all original art or all DGM art, and I prefer enough of the original ones that I'll be sticking with them (even though the DGM Rakdos Guildgate looks about ten times better).
On the topic of Gates, I really like the DGM versions of the gates. I just pulled a foil Rakdos Guildgate from a pack of DGM, looks incredible. You can check the last page of the pimp Cube thread to see it.
I'm planning on getting foils of each of the DGM gates for my cube though.
Thanks for the input. I'm updating my cube after basically doing nothing with it for 2 years (blasphemous, I know) and slowly realizing that I have no idea what I'm doing.
On the topic of Guildgates, I only prefer DGM for Golgari and Orzhov.

Lots of stuff is really preference, unless your goal is to use the absolute most powerful cards available. I know I have some subpar picks in my cube due to me liking the card(s) (Like most people won't run all 10 signets, or I have the 5 Affinity for (insert basic land) artifact creatures from Mirrodin).

Yeah, I can definitely see that there's room for personality when looking through lists. I'm just worried about my personal preference(and my inexperience with the format) in relation to balance.
Edit: Spent the better part of the day updating and re-organizing my cube thread and Google spreadsheet. Fairly satisfied with how it looks at the moment.
I've been playing Grixis Slavedriver for a while, and I like it quite a bit. 4/4 is a bit small for a six drop, but it's obviously quite resilient to removal.
I think some people run Skeletal Wurm as a reanimation target. Eight is a bit steep for a normal control deck, though.
i'm running sengir vampire, phyrexian gargantua, twisted abomination, and skeletal wurm for finishers in black (homicidal seclusion if you count that too). the abomination and wurm are both more reanimation targets than anything but they should be hard castable as well.
I recently cut most of the black finishers. I was never thrilled with any of them. I figure if black needs a finisher, it can splash for it. The cool black decks don't need finishers anyways.
Shriekmaw, Twisted Abomination, Phyrexian Gargantua, and Sengir Vampire are often enough. Even a Dauthi Marauder will do once black control stabilizes. The fact that your creatures aren't super duper resilient is fine; if they die, just bring them back with the multitude of reanimation spells that the black control deck tends to run
If you really are looking for fat though, Grixis Slavedriver and Maalfeld Twins are the closest you're going to get. They even spawn Zombies, just like Grave Titan!
It's hard to call these guys 'finishers' because they're only 3/2, but I love Predatory Nightstalker and Wei Assassins as curve toppers for black decks.
Be warned that Wei Assassins has slightly more complex Oracle wording than 'ETB, Edict.'
Looks like there are new slivers in M14 being spoiled on Twitter. They only buff your side, which is good in terms of winning, but boring in terms of flavor. The new art is pretty lame too.
Dunno if we should go ahead and start an M14 thread or not.
WAHH??? First I'm hearing of this. Kindof exciting! At least one new guy (the 3/3 for GG). If we get at least 4-5 decent slivers, I would consider running a sliver package, cuz my playgroup loves that shiz.

Edit: I doubt we'll get any multicolored ones, as its a core set. Maybe a mythic lord, but that would probably be it. Damn.
Edit again: There is a 1W 2/2 Vigilance sliver. And a 2R 2/2 haste sliver. And they are all one-sided now (only affect slivers you control). Interesting.
Edit a third time: They look less like Brood War Zerg and much more like Heart of the Swarm Zerg now. Alot more tentacles, less iconic Predator head.
If you've been drafting Esper control and open your third pack to see both Unburial Rites and Ribbons of Night, which would you pick?
It depends.
That being the correct answer to all these questions, I'll elaborate a little. If you already have a decent chunk of instant/sorcery removal and card draw, that makes you less likely to take Ribbons. If you already have Shriekmaw, you're winning anyway take Unburial Rites. If you feel like you have enough board presence, but need more removal, take the Ribbons.
I'd be inclined to say general case is Ribbons, special case is Rites.
Specialities about the cube: U tempo, B aggro, R slow-ish are supported. G aggro is not.
Currently trying to support tokens in all colors but blue, in different ways: W pumps them, B sacrifices them, R suicides them, G has decent-sized ones.

Yeah, obviously it really depends on your current pile and what colors you think the rest of the pod are in. My gut feeling was to take Rites first just because it's slightly more splashable than Ribbons due to how their secondary colors are used and thus less likely to wheel.
I would take the Unburial Rites because it is P1P3, and I probably haven't cemented myself into an archetype yet. It is probably the more powerful card overall. Ribbons is sweet, and I wouldn't expect it to wheel, but I think Rites isn't going to wheel either. Plus Rites + any value creature = pretty sweet CA, with a much higher potential than Ribbons.

I think the scenario is P3P1, not P1P3, but I think your argument still stands. For me, I'd probably generally go with Rites since I love getting extra value out of my ETB creatures, though it would suck passing Ribbons.
Darkprophet, I would cut Invert the Skies, Assault Zeppelid and Coiling Oracle for Simic Charm and basically anything else that's been mentioned.
EDIT: I feel a need to mention Plaxmanta, a card that apparently only I am running anymore.

Neither would two cards that need at least 5-6 other similar cards in the cube to function.
