I don't know why I still have it in my cube. I think I was thinking about including a couple of delirium cards. If there are enough acceptable delirium cards after Eldritch Moon is completely spoiled I might include it.
How do people feel about Broken Fall? If you dislike it, what do you suggest as an alternative? I am thinking it really only becomes super attractive in a cube where enchantments matter.
I love it in my casual Enchantress Deck as it gives me free cards and protects my ludicrously sized creatures like Endless Wurm. In a pauper cube it gives potential protection to all your creatures without risking a two for one and the high cost is a little offset by the threat alone. You might not have to cast it compared to having a similar spell hidden in your hand. It seems quite playable in slower grindier decks.
Unorthodox solution: break singleton to include 5 Evolving Wilds. Yesterday I finally got the one I lacked (the promo from Khans) so I oficially have one of each art =) Absolute Happiness...

I'm making a set review for Eldritch Moon. I hope to have it live before the Pre-Release this weekend. As I was writing reviews for the new cards I realised that the judging rubric didn't represent the spectrum of power-levels properly. Bad will be replaced by with Underpowered. Borderline will be replaced with Niche. Staple has been made a little less demanding. The cards used are old examples and will be updated to reflect the current rubric standard, as well as be fitting to the set. Also it would be a good idea to include some corner cases in the examples of where the boundaries of the categories are.
Judging Rubric
Bomb: This card probably always will be one of the core cards in the cube and will be consistently first-picked. Examples are: Porcelain Legionnaire, Vulshok Morningstar.
Staple: Once in, this card is very unlikely to ever come out of the cube because of its power level, and in any case should be cubed with in all current pauper cubes. Examples are: Eldrazi Skyspawner, Searing Spear, Evolving Wilds.
Cubable: This card is good, but not so good that it demands inclusion. Especially in a small cube, there tend to be more cubable or higher cards than slots so not all deserve inclusion. Examples: Mark of the Vampire, Kozilek's Channeler.
Borderline: This card comes close, but generally, most cubes won't include this. Examples: Shock, Anticipate, Call the Scions.
Bomb: This card probably always will be one of the core cards in the cube and will be consistently first-picked. Examples are: Porcelain Legionnaire, Vulshok Morningstar.
Staple: Once in, this card is unlikely to come out of the cube because of its power level. Typically only cut as design decision. Examples are: Eldrazi Skyspawner, Searing Spear, Evolving Wilds.
Cubeable: This card is good, but not so good that it demands inclusion. Especially in a small cube, there tend to be more cubeable cards than slots. Examples: Mark of the Vampire, Kozilek's Channeler.
Niche: This card comes close, but generally, most cubes won't include these. This also includes situationally strong cards. Often these Examples: Shock, Anticipate, Call the Scions.
Underpowered: These cards are all far below standard pauper cube power levels. Only include if you are lacking cards or as a tactical design decision. Examples: Demon's Grasp, Unnatural Aggression.
Agree that for the most part, a 5 point scale mostly just is used as an approximation (when I tend to look at reviews saying "borderline, staple" etc, I just look at how they're ranked on a 1-5 point scale and mostly ignore the titles.)
I agree with Izor. I think an extra sentence for cards that are good in archetype cubes or larger cubes isn't too much trouble. It would make life a lot easier for new cube players who are looking to support archetypes.
Edit: I also think trying to satisfy everyone by adjusting ratings based on potential archetype/individual cube synergies is a bad idea. Give something a bad rating but write something like, "This is a staple card if you are looking to support X theme in your cube".
The question isn't whether you think Shock as strong as other burn spells, because it clearly isn't. However if the average power of burn spells was brought down in a cube would you draft Shock, I would. Shock won't be kept in the final version, but it happened to be there when I copy-pasted.
It's better to give cards labels for their general playablity. I want people to evaluate how strong these cards are for their cube. Numerical ratings imply evaluating in a vacuum. I feel it gets too easy to get caught up in finding the strongest versions of each card, rather than trying to create the "funnest" environment to showcase the best commons.
yeah, in the evalutaion thread cards should be rated based on powerlevel, compared to the other commons available. but in the spoiler thread its totally reasonable to comment cards on the individual perspective
Yeah, I'm not a fan of how he is running it either. I pledged to sign up for champion, and several days later he still hadn't activated it for my account. I emailed him about it, and he didn't reply until after I sent him an email a few days later letting him know I cancelled the pledge. You would think that he would have the time to put a little bit of effort into this project considering he is making roughly $1800 a month from it.
Anyone had a chance to draft their cube with any of the clue creatures in them? How have people found them. They seem great value when you have nothing to do with your mana anyway. Just a little unexciting otherwise.

(I'm not saying powerlevel evaluation is 100% objective, obviously: every evaluation implies a degree of subjectivism).
