I will side with crazy, counter-logic changes. It gives the cube more unpredictability. Also, if every cube is a clone, we never get hilarious stories like Street Wraith in the finals going the distance, or people windmill slamming landcyclers as the true fat on the board.
I prefer both Wickerbough and Santifiers, and go so far as to push Bestow currently.
There were 2 articles on GatheringMagic.com about Khans pauper cube updates that are atleast thought-provoking. The pro-Bestow cuber cut some of his lesser bestow creatures he added previously and comments on his results and why.
Looking for some general advice. This will be my second time building a pauper cube; the first time around I made mostly a goodsuff build and it ended up being primarily 3-4 color goodstuff decks. While that was fine and all, I want to go about it different this time.
I want to implement 9-10 different archetypes, and try to force two color decks with maybe a small 3rd color splash. Also I want the archtypes to be strong so I'm thinking of making removal cost more or somehow be tied in with the archtypes themselves.
Any general advice, critiques of doing it this way, or any comments are welcomed. Thanks!
As much as I'd love to have a manland at common, I don't like the idea of fudging the printing rarity. Also, Strip Mine is like injecting a concentrated dose of Unfun into random matches where you screw an opponent out of the game and goldfish your deck. As far as Maze of Ith, having opened several The Dark packs and only ever opening one, I don't view it as a common.
Mishra's I see very pkayable and not really overpowered. Maze, I feel, warrants the need for LD or Strip Mine. With its cost, I will be holding off on Maze. The FTV foils will kill your budget.
feels like bending the rules to me. with that philosophy you could play all older cards in peasent, because there were no rares. Im going with Gatherer
Who do you guys think is more worthy if a slot, Grey Merchant or Rotfeaster Maggot?
While Merchant is probably more inherently powerful, I feel like Maggot ' easier time in multicolored decks and bigger body makes him seem more versatile.
It's not the way I want my Blue to go though, pingers are Red's thing.
This. I have Tim for nostalgia reasons only, and I think I will be cutting it anytime soon.
I'd prefer red/blue going tempo spells mather, but now again maybe spells mather isn't a very consistent archetype with the cards currently available. Red/blue control, yeah, but, does it need them?.

You're missing the kor rebel guy in Time Spiral who pings for 1 and has shadow. Possibly better than Zealot, which is a grey ogre without opening yourself up for a 2-for-1.
UB Saboteur is a deck you can support as well. Al has some other cards that I can't remember off the top of my head that go in the deck too. Some Red and White cards. But all the Ninjas, Ophidians, and then Hands of Binding plus bounce, removal, and guys that jump other guys like Trained Condor or Nimbus Naiad.
I've been on and off this archetype in my Cube for a while, looking to increase its presence with my next set of changes. One card that really helps decks like these is Tawnos's Wand, a Common in one of the Master's Editions online.
True, I've definitely used the Wand for that effect with Kiln Fiend, just like in ROE draft with Goblin Tunneler. The other creature I like to use with the Wand is Bloodthrone Vampire/Nantuko Husk, another combo that comes from ROE as well.
Vampiric Link is awesome. It can be pseudo removal, turns games in your favor, especially the suicidish black decks and once in a while you live the dream with crypt rats
well i never use armor in hyperaggro, but in solid midrange. this way its still useful later in the game. as often said before, white is lacking big power guys, so even a +2+2 effect can be huge. i used to run it with auramancer before, but now replaced it with custodi squire
if you run a minor enchantment theme you shouldnt miss the armor

Odd how we always say 6cc+ creatures need more than strong stats.
But Convoke does address that.

I've been running all that ***** for months and you should too. Look at my cube.
