I just run Fireball, Kaeverk's Torch, and Rolling Thunder as my x-spells. That's an option. I didn't want THAT much redundancy and wanted to help regenerate matter so Disentegrate was the card I cut.
I'd definitely recommend trying out Rock Slide - it plays very differently from the other x spells and is pretty good. Control decks are often happy with it as early as turn 3 or 4 (and then want it pretty much every turn after that), and aggro decks like it for breaking open stalled board states late game at instant speed. We have very few good mass removal spells anyway, and a one-sided, instant-speed wrath for 6ish mana is highly playable for us.

Also, red control is awesome. Too bad it says 'non-flying'. Stupid "makes sense from a flavour perspective".

Pretty much this. Rock Slide isn't insane or a cube staple, but it adds something pretty cool and different to the cube.
I guess I could go into reasons for why those would be good to replace but I don't think you'd particularly care
For many of them it boils down to: sheer power doesn't necessarily mean good cubing. For the rest, they're just not as good as you'd think after a little re-evaluation.

Has anybody tried Bloodfire Infusion? It's obviously not that great (it gets countered by removal, and is only playable with a 2+ power creature in play), but the fact that it's still a sweeper makes it sort of appealing ...

I put it in my cube for a brief time, it's probably the worst card that's been in my cube. I wish I was joking, but it's both terribly narrow and terribly underpowered
With a few of the Mechanics spoiled for Theros, what are people's thoughts on Bestow and Monstrify's chances at being on commons, as well as usefulness if they are?
I like Bestow because it reminds me of a 'now' situation Scavenge. Monstrify I fear won't go above Monstrify 1 because of commons being scaled to where they are.
---------------------------------------------------------------- xy Monstrify X: Put X +1/+1 counters on ~, ~ is now Monsterous. Use this ability on if ~ is not Monsterous.
Becoming Monsterous grants a 1 shot ability, like morph.
---------------------------------------------------------
Bestow xy: If you cast this card for its bestow cost, it's an Aura spell with enchant creature. It becomes a creature again if it's not attached to a creature
Usually it grants its Power/Toughness/Ability to the enchanted creature
I don't want to comment too much on Bestow and Monstrosity until we get some cards, but I think they have a lot of potential for some great cards to come out. It just depends on how far they push those mechanics at common. I hope some of the Bestow cards will be good enough to push the Auras subtheme into gear.
I'm trying not to get my hopes up... but I'd really like to see a cubeable common blue kraken with the monstrify mechanic. Blue needs something better than Harbor Serpent and Scrapdiver Serpent in the Sea Monster department. For flavor reasons. Poseidon wills it!
I also like the idea of bestow for the same reason I liked bloodrush when it was first spoiled: I love cards that can be two different things, especially when one of those things is a creature. With bloodrush I could cube an extra couple of combat tricks without diluting my format's creature density. Bestow would let me do the same thing with Auras.
With Thassa being spoiled I like our odds of seeing some new commons that scry too! Here's hoping we get some new scrying commons in black and red to go with the blue stuff that everybody already cubes (Preordain, Foresee, Condescend). Then again, we might just get reprints of Putrid Cyclops and Riddle of Lightning.
I'm finding I really want something to do with the huge quantities of mana I have late game, but blue and white in particular just don't have very good fatties. Are there any good mana sinks for those colors I could be using?
When I see Healing Salve, I'm often like "Oh girl, I wish I could turn every card into this." Thanks they removed the gain life part, otherwise this would have been broken.
I would throw the Levelers on there too as both Wavewatch and Cliffhaven are solid. But either way, new 'sinks would be a welcome option as the Invokers are not as beloved by most.
Halimar Wavewatch is probably one of the better mana sinks other than the absurd Sprout Swarm. It's done considerably well in our cube. I was really hoping they might make Magma Jet a common but i guess that would have been pretty amazing in draft, dang.

Blue and white both have some fatties. Epheremon is seven to hard cast. Hexplate Golem is 7. Eldrazi guy is 8. Hardcast the plainscycler for what, 6?

I'm running all those except hexplate. Is that really any good?
Not really. It's significantly worse than something like Oakgnarl Warrior, which I include pretty much only out of necessity for ramp finishers in green.
EDIT (UNRELATED)
Bestow comes to Commons, as does Heroic. There may be hope for Monsterous. But, we are not allowed to discuss the spoiler; I will just say I am satisfied.
Heroic, when it is time, may deserve a discussion on Buyback being playable.
It's like Last Gasp; it kills most of the things, most of the time (or if it doesn't kill something, it usually makes it tradeable via blocks). It's no Doom Blade or Terror, but it's still solid. Definitely worth playing at 400 cards. It can also technically be used as a pump spell, but I don't think I've ever seen that happen.

It's not good enough even for pauper.
Hasn't come up in an actual game yet though. Will report back when I have results.

Question: What's sparkley and makes a loud noise and hurts a lot?
Answer: Lightning
Condescend is a shoe-in in this set. Gods are commonly known to be arrogant, condescending individuals.

The levelers are also quite quite strong. They're our go-to manasinks.
