Why is it called Blitz?
Because in every round, you get two picks.
That's right.
No more can you sit back and assume that your cards will be there when you pass your turn. No sir no sir. Prepare to have your **** stolen.
The first round and the last round are exceptions, as these behave like normal. 1 Pick in these.
So yeah, no first pick grafted wargear>guardian of the guildpact for you.
18 rounds total, so 34 picks.
We play using a Google spreadsheet. You make your pick by striking through the card you want (this is freaking vital) and then posting it in the appropriate box in the Picks sheet. Change the color of the words to match you pick, not the color of the cell. Then, post it here so everyone can follow.
The random boxes put around cards in the spreadsheet show cards that are categorized in places some people may not expect. this way, if you go looking for errant ephemeron or azorius guildmage, you can spot them.
There's a 24 hour deadline to making picks, and if you don't, then your pick is deferred; that is, we will skip you, and you can make your pick any time, except you can't pick cards that the people after you have picked (the punishment for failing to make a pick on time).
I plan on having a round robin with whomever wants to when we are done. Magic Workstation most likely.
You'll need to write all the Shard and Vivid lands out individually on the spreadsheet in order for picking them to work properly. (That caught me out too.)
I might pop in and provide Benny-style commentary every now and then if no-one has any objections?
I'll say this in the OP, but for the public's sake, post your pick here in bold.
also, you gotta strike the card in the sheet, for ease of use. I already did it for you on this one though.
One thing that doesn't seem to be intuitive is that the people on the ends have to pick cards that they really want much earlier than the people in the middle. Since their picks are so far apart, they have to overvalue things that they need since there is no wiggle room as far as "hope the next guy doesn't take my stuff".
I don't know for certain, but I'm pretty sure that so long as
A) quality drops fairly evenly as time goes on
B) there are at least 4 rounds
that any serpentine draft is as fair as the next one.
