Hey all,
I've been testing with my Modern Peasant cube and games have been showing a tendency to stagnate. At first I thought it was due to a glut of tappers and a dearth of removal but after fixing those issues the problem didn't really go away; there seems to be just a lack of "finishers", and making a first pick is often really difficult.
So I've decided to add some rares.
1 Creature and 1 Spell of each color and colorless.
1 Creature or 1 Spell of each 2-color pair.
I personally dislike "contaminating" a C/Ube with rares, but if you want to do so, this is certainly a possibility. I actually like black attrition decks and blue control monsters alongside creature-based archetypes, but that's again personal preference. Maybe you'd like to raise the mana curve a little. Another source of the issue might be that you have a disproportionate amount of EtB-guys (can't really blame you, they're freaking awesome!) and too few creatures that do little more than just being big. Or you might have too little evasion...
But back to discussing your choices:
Your choices seem very.... how can I put it... careful. Don't misunderstand be, but it seems that you aren't going for the deadliest or best cards of each section, rather just "pretty good" sealed bomb cards. That seems very reasonable to me because you don't want the rares to outshine the commons and uncommons either, do you?
Day of Judgment, Drana, Hellrider, Steel Hellkite, Basilisk Collar, Mycoid Shepherd, Debtor's Knell, Firemane Angel and probably Murkfiend Liege seem good and I wouldn't change them. Aegis Angel, Phyrexian Ingester, Deathbringer Thoctar and Gleancrawler look like just a few rares that you happened to have lying around (but they'll do the trick). The blue cards, Banefire, the green cards and Blitz Hellion, however, are cards that I wouldn't include. Why don't you try Sphinx of Jwar Isle, Jace I/Opposition/Cryptic Command, Char, Deranged Hermit/Hornet Queen/Kodama of the North Tree and Plow Under instead?
Specialities about the cube: U tempo, B aggro, R slow-ish are supported. G aggro is not.
Currently trying to support tokens in all colors but blue, in different ways: W pumps them, B sacrifices them, R suicides them, G has decent-sized ones.
cube list outdated
*literal C/U definition according to gatherer
**some cards are banned. Library of Alexandria, Land Tax, Sol Ring.
My C/Ube used to be all slow stangnated grindfests...then I learned how to support aggro decks. Now games stall out a lot less often because aggro crushes fast or just runs out of steam while the other player stabalizes and loses quickly. Sure the 4color control on BG rock matchup takes forever but most matches are over in a reasonable ammount of time/turns.
My suggest is to cut some of the worse control and midrange cards and replace them with cheaper aggro options. Low average cmc = very few games will get stalled. Also adding in some "I Win" cards like overrun and falter for aggro makes sure that if the game stalls the control deck can't just sit around forever.

GW: Mycoid Shepherd
BW: Debtor's Knell
WR: Firemane Angel
RU: Call the Skybreaker
