THE FIFTH GREAT CUBE
ROTISSERIE DRAFT
PAUPER REVIVAL ROUND
Welcome, welcome! Wow, we haven't done one of these in a while.
So, refresher. Firstly, you really should know how to play a Rotisserie Draft before you... well, play the Rotisserie Draft. Some helpful resources, and a short, basic description of the workings on one (now with spoiler tags! xD).
My Own Explanation
There are 8 players (A to H). The draft begins with every card in the cube available. Player A picks a card, and then Player B picks a card. This continues down until Player H picks a card. Then, we go backwards; Player H picks another card, then Player G, then Player F, until we get back to Player A. And then we go back the normal direction (A picks, then B picks, then C picks...). So, Player A begins, and then we go back and forth and back and forth, with Player H and A getting double picks, until we end the draft at Player H's final, 40th pick.
So, with a forum draft, you'll be making your picks on this spreadsheet.
When you make a pick, you strike out the corresponding card in "The Cube" page, and then type it up on the "Picks" page in the corresponding column and Pick row. Then, though this is optional, post your pick in this thread. Easy, right? Right.
The Pick Order Player 1 Ponder Player 2 Goblin Pile Shuffler Player 3 Rubin8or Player 4 Elfy_T Player 5 Yarn Player 6 Lanxal Player 7 DarthWaffles Player 8 Ninja Caterpie
I am so keen for this. I'm sure you were going to do this already, but if you could link this on the All Commons Cube thread, that would be great. I wanted to wheel darn it. =p Statistically, people in the middle do better though... hmm...
On color-coding, this is how it'll work: we'll be color coding the picks by their color. So it'll be easy to see at a glance what everyone else is drafting. There'll be no colorcoding of the Cube list page.
PMs are iffy. I would say no; they promote a weird kind of drafting. Alliances are also iffy, but it's not like I can stop you. Recommendations are no; advice is yes. Don't give advice unless requested of it. And finally, reasons are fine~
Did you make your pick in the spreadsheet? I can't seem to see it.
Edit: Oooooh god I'm an idiot. Weird administrative screw up, but basically, there was two spreadsheets, and I linked to the incorrect one in the OP. Fixed. To be clear, this is the official spreadsheet.
@Elfy T
I can't double post, so I can't post it in the All Commons Cube Thread. Yet.
I meant that if everyone was assigned a colour to highlight the picks we would see who picked what, not just that it got picked.
As we can still see every pick on the other sheet, its the same information, just colour coded to make it a bit easier to read.
Like I was going to do it anyway, so I dont want it to be considered cheating or unfair. You have a second copy of the spreadsheet, and so do I, I just copy/ paste. And was going to highlight the cards (for my own personal use) that I thought other people would probably take and a reminder for what strategy I should be focused on.
In a normal draft it only takes an hour, this is going to take weeks, and I cant keep everything up to date. I cant see it as unfair?
Its what magicmerl does with the Community Drafts, and it just wouldnt work as smoothly otherwise.
That you can see on one page without having to go back and forth, and look through 8 drafters pick to see who has been taking what. Just seems to be easier for everyone, to make it a level playing field,
Though if every one finds the colours distracting Ill just link them to my colour coded spreadsheet.
Not anymore. o.O. I've made the other (not correct one) private.
Color-coding the Cube spreadsheet has it's advantages, yes, but if we color-code both sheets representing different things (the Picks sheet as the card colors, and the Cube sheet for each individual drafter), then it just becomes confusing for everyone. It does make it slightly easier for people (you can see how many people are drafting a specific color), but there are disadvantages to it as well.
Th colorcoding system we have not has worked for the past two drafts (instigated by magicmerl, as it happens), so I think it'll work for a third.
Also, I'll be PMing Goblin Pile Shuffler in a few hours.

Bah, humbug. I was hoping that, at eighth, I'd be able to jump straight into the a colour which had the best cards remaining. Instead, the picks have been WUBRG and 2 brown; such fun.
Time to take a dive then, I suppose; my double will be Cenn's Enlistment and Porcelain Legionnaire.
I have no idea how this format's going to work, it's great. Interesting to see Cenn's Enlistment going so early, especially with the picks before it... maybe I just underrate it. Likewise for Sylvok Lifestaff.

If the picks so far are wise choices, then I clearly know nothing about how a pauper cube plays out (which is totally possible).
h'mm.
that Hymn is going to be annoying.
in the meantime, I guess I'll go with aven riftwatcher then.
some smart picks so far, and blue is looking tight
EDIT: I'm going to need someone to do this on spreadsheets for me xD.
Google docs is playing up on me :/
sorry, and thanks in advance
I wouldn't necessary condemn or support some of the picks I've seen; I'm inclined to think that people have plans. In any case, I know exactly what I intend to draft, and I'm going to attempt to deviate as little as possible from the plan.
Haha, thanks Zovc. I'd say there's some pretty clear decks emerging... it's not like you can keep much to yourself in a Rotisserie. Maybe I should just take Boros Signet next to confuse you all...

@Lanxal, Thanks!
@Everyone,
Can we colour code the spreadsheet? Can I be Orange?
Is it cool if we talk about our own and other people strategies?
Can we PM each other? Or is to all conversation to be open?
Are there going to be alliances? Or such?
Can we make recommendations to people or ask for advice?
Are we allowed to give our reasons for picking a certain card, or should we just wait until the end of the draft?
