This unpowered 360 card cube is designed mostly for 2 players, but up to 4. I am also working on a powered 540 card list that would also primarily be used for 2-4 players.
I've been an on-and-off casual player since 1994 and basically play with friends (long ago), family (more recently), and mtgo. I was looking for a way to keep it interesting playing with, at this point, mostly my wife. Cube seems like the perfect format and I've had a blast crafting my initial list. I drew lots of inspiration from wtwlf123 (http://www.cubetutor.com/viewcube/170) and used his list and thread as a guide along with the Cubetutor average cube, countless other lists, articles, videos and forum posts.
In the next post I'll record my updates as they occur.
Any feedback, comments or suggestions are highly appreciated!
Got some new cards this week. The last cut is the one I'm least sure about, might try to find a way to sneak Genesis back in. I'm also in the process of cutting a card from each color and adding more artifacts, but I need to acquire said artifacts.
Our first draft was really fun. We did a Glimpse draft and each played several matches with both decks. I made some changes to the cube with some newly acquired cards and as a result of working on a powered 540 card list and realizing that certain cards are less optimal for the unpowered environment. Also added some utilities and artifacts of which I didn't have nearly enough.
After a year of planning (and slowly acquiring Revised dual lands), my cube is finally ready for it's debut! Technically 358 cards are acquired, and 2 pre-ordered from Iconic Masters.
I started out with many cards that I already owned and filled it out from there. I tried to hit most of the major archetypes and keep my mana curve reasonable. We'll see what needs re-balancing once we actually start playing. I'm almost done sleeving the cards in kmc perfect fits and hyper mats, and tonight we'll have our inaugural draft! We're going to try out Glimpse and Winston drafting.
