There's a surprising number of arriors she can find synergy with in aggressive decks. I built a Naya aggro deck the other day that had 0 non-warrior creatures in it, just to try to max out on Najeela synergy. Never drew her, lol.
Hi wtwlf, been away from cubing for most of the year so your thread and preview articles were a great help catching up, thanks.
Just noticed you're running Coiling Oracle, I loved this card when I first got into magic, it was Lorwyn standard but my mate gave me a heap of spares which were mostly Ravnica. Was great running it in my cube in the early days before it got pushed out. How's it playing for you these days? I run Trygon Predator instead since it's also been a staple for years.
While I'm here, I noticed that Thalia's Lancers got pushed out a while back, card not live up to the theory of being a reliable walker tutor?
There's only 3 cards that I actually like. So the last slot, which is typically Predator, is currently a Coiling Oracle. It's fine, but I'm hoping to be able to replace it with something from this block.
Lancers was a better card at face value, but when the cube went back up in size, I needed to add in threat density that can win both in and against Moat/'Quake shells and Wildfire/Languish decks. Lyra and Baneslayer fit that bill well.
Hey wtwlf123, would you happen to have an updated 360-size cube list available? If not, what would be the main things to cut from your current cube to make it 360 or so, or if there's another 360-sized powered cube to look at? Cheers!
If you are looking for a basic framework to get you started, I would recommend a 360 list that steve_man made a few months ago. His tastes and evaluations are really solid and similar to wtwlf123's, and you could just tweak and update it how you like: http://www.cubetutor.com/viewcube/100126.
Good luck!
Hi guys, thanks for the replies. Have been looking at GRN and been trying to tweak things, but I think I've settled on a 360 powered list for now: http://www.cubetutor.com/cubeblog/118426
Would you all have any thoughts or suggestions on how it's looking? What are questionable cards that I've included (or excluded)? I would ideally like to add another guild card to each category (4 lands + 3 cards) but not sure how to approach this, or whether it's even necessary.
I know the 4cc white spell section is stacked, but I'd still play Gideon, Ally of Zendikar over Spear of Heliod.
I think you can live without Inkwell Leviathan in blue if it gives you access to Remand.
I'd play Liliana, the Last Hope and probably Skinrender too, even at 360. I would probably remove Hypnotic Specter and Liliana, Seath's Majesty to make room.
I'd keep Earthshaker Khenra over Keldon Marauders. And if the artifact.dec is gonna be a thing, keep Goblin Welder over maybe Char, Crc Lightning or Incinerate.
I'd swap out green Gearhulk and 5cc Nissa for Craterhoof and 3cc Nissa.
i don't think you need 4 lands per guild at 360. I'd play dual/shock/fetch, and see if you can get a 3rd card per guild. I'd also play the same number of nonland cards in each guild. Colonnade and Tar Pit should sneak in as spells. Any extra slots should free up more colorless cards.
I'd get Sundering Titan in there; it'll open up that Inkwell->Remand change in blue if you do. I'd also play little Karn before big Karn.
Interesting, so Bloodrage Brawler was on my radar for a while but I never got around to testing it in cube. Did the fact that it's a in-color 2-drop Warrior for Najeela push it over the top?
Also cool to see Nezumi Graverobber come back Care to share a few thoughts on what led to it beating out Graveyard Marshal for you? (I'm guessing that the BB casting cost was one.)
Ya, that's one of the reasons why I wanted to try Brawler. That, and increasing the number of organically available discard outlets. Loam decks, creature recursion decks, Feldon decks, some Welder/Daretti decks snd even reanimator decks might be able to use him as an extra way to get cards to the 'yard. And he's a good on-curve card in front of Hazoret.
The BB cost on Marshal was an obvious issue. But he was also playing the role of "pseudo 5-power 5-drop" for some decks too, and that isn't as needed now that we have Doom Whisper. Plus, the loss of Deathrite made me want to bring in more maindeckable graveyard hate. And, it's backdoor support for reanimator decks as well. I've always had a soft spot for Graverobber, and I feel the combination of his cost and the need for his effect makes it a viable option for me again.
Cool, thanks for diving a bit deeper! Definitely gonna have to try out Brawler as well. My cube isn't exactly based on yours but I've found lots of inspiration there over the years.
Fastbond suffers from extreme variance. Occasionally, it's completely broken. More often than not, I play it, maybe 2 more lands from my hand, and I'm lucky if there's an additional meaningful follow-up. It doesn't increase my total number of resources, and it represents card disadvantage. 9 times out of 10, I'm better off with a Llanowar Elves in that same spot. Cubes that are maxed on draw effects and cubes that play more library-casting effects like Future Sight and Magus of the Future and cards like that can do some pretty absurd things with Fastbond. And it's good with the Zuran Orb combo if you want to support that. But I saw Fastbond do literally nothing productive at least two times to every one time I saw it do something good. I cut it long, long ago and haven't wanted to put it back in. It's a combo card, not a green ramp card, and I don't have enough of the combo support to make it work at a level where it'll be consistently good enough.
Land Tax has been a busted card since the very first iteration of my cube, and it has never once been remotely close to being removed.
I typically elect to play it in almost everything that's outside of hard aggro. But it really shines in decks that run ways to manipulate your own land count, like artifact mana, Kor Skyfisher, Meloku, Gargadon etc and/or decks that want food for discard outlets like Forbid or Firestorm or whatever. But it's essentially a 1-mana insurance policy against the opponent out-resourcing you, and when it triggers, it's somewhere between a 3- and a 9-for-1 in terms of card advantage. When I don't need it, it's because I was never behind on lands. And when I do need it, it's insanely good. Some groups don't love it as much as mine does, but the card's been consistently great for 10+ years now.

Cubetutor is yet to update with GRN, but I'm planning on adding: Goblin Cratermaker, Knight of Autumn, Assassin's Trophy and Tajic, Legion's Edge.

I have to wonder if Contagion will come back later. Our appreciation for it has grown as we become more experienced with your list.
