Did you consider Honored Hierarchin the Origins update? Also, why not try out Chandra?
Tested both.
Hierarch spent too much time as a 1/1 in a color that can't clear a path for it to freely attack. And even when it did transform, it was a slow beater, and a slow ramper. It just doesn't have a deck that wants it.
I have the wrong cube for Chandra. I prioritize power on my burn spells rather than speed, and thus run a lot of sorcery-speed burn. And we as a playgroup rarely play mono-red. We play tons of red aggro, but it's almost always 2-color aggro decks. This combination of things hurts her two primary ways of transforming pretty significantly. Other cubes will get good use of Chandra, but mine won't.
It generally makes the games faster by a turn or a turn and a half or so on average. There's a little bit more variance because some games can be early blowouts, but the experience is still balanced and fun. We enjoy playing fast games with powerful cards, so it's perfect for my playgroup.
By the way, the Origin pre-release went amazingly well! I went 5-0 at my local store and won the event
EDIT: For those interested this was my sealed decklist (I went for a white box):
1x Chandra, Fire of Kaladesh (booster mythic)
1x Exquisite Firecraft (booster rare)
1x Call of the Full Moon
1x Thopter Engineer
1x Goblin Glory Chaser
2x Infectious Bloodlust
1x Chandra's Fury
1x Titan's Strength
1x Smash to Smithereens
1x Dragon Fodder
1x Archangel of Tithes (booster mythic)
1x Kytheon's Irregulars (seeded pack promo)
1x Patron of the Valiant
2x Swift Reckoning (These and Celestial Flare were SO useful!)
1x Consul's Lieutenant
1x Enlightened Ascetic
2x Grasp of the Hieromancer
1x Celestial Flare
1x Auramancer
2x Topan Freeblade (Amazing 2 drop)
1x Kytheon's Tactics
1x Ramroller
1x Alchemist's Vial
2x Evolving Wilds
And basic lands. I found I simply had too many playable cards to stay at 40, but the above really worked for me. Most of the matches ended up being 2-1 in my favor with one going 2-0.
Well... sure I would. That's why I run a powered cube.
But the most important thing is to find out what your local playgroup wants. If they're more of an unpowered kind of crew, it doesn't make sense to build a powered cube.
Hello again! So as I am gathering more and more cards for the cube I've found one that I was wondering about: Nim Deathmantle. Imo, it's a powerful equipment card. Wondering about your thoughts on it?

I'm a big fan of the card in EDH Cube, but in regular cube, it's just too slow and durdly. Having to pay 6 mana to get the first benefit out of it is really weak, especially when that benefit is +2/+2 and conditional evasion, which is hardly the powerhouse that a Sword is, or even Loxodon Warhammer. The recursion ability is neat (and again super durdly), but keeping up 4 mana to be able to use it is just too difficult.

It can be a powerful card, but needing 4 to equip or having to leave 4 available to use the ability all the time is a rough cost. It didn't last as long as I expected it to when we cubed with it.
And you can just add [card] tags instead of linking to card images for every card you post. Just highlight the card name and click the card icon above the typing box and it will autocard it for you.
We actually cubed with Nim Deathmantle for a while when Scars was released. It played exactly as others have said already. Cheap initial cost and solid abilities, but four to equip and four on the trigger proved to be too much. It would probably need to be 2 for the equip and no more than 3 for the trigger cost to be worth it. It's a powerful card, though. Also what a sweet name for a card! We always called it Nim Deathmetal. \m/
Another card came up, it was suggested by someone I met at a local store, wondering what the thoughts on it were: Omnath, Locus of Mana
Also, I've been looking at double sleeving the cards for the cube and from what I've read here and elsewhere, KMC perfect fit + KMC Hyper Matte sleeves seem to be a solid way to go. Thoughts?
All that is left is how to store the cube. I've read the cube forum related to the type of boxes people have, it's impressive stuff. Custom made boxes amongst other things. Did anyone have a recommended container to use? Right now I'm using the typical white cardboard boxes.
Omnath always felt kinda lacking for us, probably because we got wrecked using it a couple times (floating big mana into the pool over a couple turns, entering the attack step and having him killed by instant speed removal; therefore erasing our mana bank). That's likely an unfair assessment of how he'll play over the long run though, and other forum members have had good success with Omnath. Give it a try if it's a card that's appealing to you.
I use KMC Perfects + KMC Hypers and it works great.

Can't tell if this is a serious post or not. Twiddle is just not a good Magic card.

There's a reason why they've been in those old boxes this whole time.
