I am reviewing my cube completely and the Karroo's are on the list with cards that probably will go. They just seem to slow for a format where speed is so important. I'd rather have ABU duals, Shocklands, Searchlands and probably even painlands. So unless you have a huge Cube or money/proxies is a big issue, Id' cut them.
They might get better if you run Vivids and have enough abillities that combo with it like Landfall.
I think most people rank them below duals, shocks and fetches, but above painlands. I'm not sure I agree with this format being speedy. It can be, but we've had plenty of decks win or do well with a plodding pace.
Also, I'm going to visit Brussels around Xmas! Any suggestions for things to do, touristy and not?

@ Phantizle: I don't know about Bruges, but visit Antwerp for a day trip, and hit up the Italian pizza place, Da Geovanni, in the main plaza below the old Cathedral. Buy the 'Della Casa' closed pizza. Best pizza in the world
Also, drink as many Belgian beers as you can buy. Last time I left Belgium I had the worst hangover on my 14 hour bus trip, so be careful.

I guess the speed depends on if the cube is powered and how strong supprot for aggro is. Aggro is doing pretty well in my cube so that ups the pressure a bit for the slower ramp/control decks. I also support LD as a viable archytype and it is very painfull to have your karoo destroyed.
I'll send you a PM about Brussels , so I don't have to bore people here talking about my home town.
Updated Post #481 (Top of Page 33) to reflect all the latest notes to my Zen Revision. 23 total cards as it stands. Cards with an * have already been switched in/out. Also, card tagged the new guys.
Also, minor celebration for post #1400.
Any input on my potential revision changes would be nice -- I know most of the ones I've had listed are agreed upon, but the second half I just recently added what is coming out for the new adds.

I've seen Graverobber used once for the use that everyone wishes they could use it. Ben used it to clean out Raul's graveyard in response to a Yawg's Will. Other than that, it collected dust.

Good changes, i think you will have a lot of fun with the new cards.
Would you like to have the Ed Beard Jr version instead? Just remember: this guy wants you to stop using altered arts and has already working a lawyer on this subject...
i read that thing about EBJ.
Not sure i care enough about the EBJ thing to go "i am not gonna play with any cards drawn by him". Is it worht my time to go through my cube and not use any EBJ cards? Not for me. Maybe u guys will do that. The guy doesnt draw mtg stuff anymore. if he wants to act like a jerk that's his call.
between those two i like the Destiny's art better. First Plow Under printed and first foil. easy decision for me.
EDIT: My quip was just to pt out that link was to 8E one and not the UD one. (any my prefenence for UD vs. 8E). So, anyone who wants to chat more bout this, u can pm me or what not. S_E probably doesn't care too much bout this so yeah/

What's funny about me (and maybe it's just age), but I always enjoyed pimping out my decks. Foreign, signed, artist-altered, foil, whatever...I loved having it all in my deck (bonus for foreign foils that were altered and signed by the artist).
Not that I wouldn't want to do that for the Cube -- but for some reason, I simply don't care. Part of it is that I don't want to deal with finding foil Fetchies (I used to have one of each, and regret selling them now) -- but I literally just don't care. I don't care what card face, card art or anything that the card is, as long as it "works". Case in point is the new card face version of the Mox Monkey and the gold-bordered version of Wasteland I have. I really don't give a crap that the World Champ version of Wasteland is about the most opposite of "pimp" that I can get -- I just care that there's a copy of it present in our Cube.
Now, I did go out of my way to get the EvG version of Siege-Gang Commander -- just because that artwork is LIGHT YEARS better than that found on the Legions or M10 version of that card.
But now there are so many cards of the new card face -- and I'm a player from 1994, I truly value the old card face.
Silent Edge's Tidbits of Wisdom: The Lewis Theory - When the presence of a single card makes every other card in your deck better (see Lewis, Ray). The Rubber Edict - You'd rather have it and not use it, than need it and not have it. The Shotgun Wedding - Don't commit early unless you absolutely have to.
I play since back in the day too, but I can't stand the old layout. The new one is much easier to read and has a larger art box, hasn't got that ridiculous font with the lower case 'H', and where arts have been redone they are generally better. Plow Under is a pretty good example.
I agree with you 1000%. The card layout is better, the artwork is MILES better and in general is a better product.
However, I like the "history of the game" aspect that the Cube presents whenever it's played. It's fun to drop a land, followed by a Mox and play a Sol Ring -- only to cast a Bloodbraid Elf and Cascade into a Lotus Viper or something ridiculous on the next turn. You cover 15 years of cards in 2 turns. I prefer to have a nod to that history and have as many old face cards as possible. I have my fair share of old face goodies that were re-done on a new card face and whatnot -- but as we get to the point where we have just as many (if not more) "new card face" cards as "old card face" cards, it'll be increasingly difficult to keep the old guys in there. I'm making an effort now so that the Power won't be the only "old face" left...
...but I do agree with you. It's just a preference I suppose.
I have the Destiny one in our Cube. I like the art of 8th, but I like having as many "old face" cards in the deck as I can get.
Lol... I know since I traded u that copy.
But yeah I like the old card face also. I started in rev.
Part of me wishes that the fetch lands all were old card or all new card face...
We have a few gold bordered cards in our cube as well, but I'm so OCD about the gold borders that I 'sharpied' them to make them black bordered. I also despise white bordered cards. If I can have black bordered old face cards, that's my preference. However, I'm with SE on the fact that I'm usually just glad to get some version of a card into the cube no matter the card face or border color.
I can't really say it doesn't matter to me what edition it is.
I really like the old frame (especially the foils), and i have a fondness for Alpha, Beta, Unlimited as well. I'm generally trying to put the oldest coolest version of the card in the cube.
A/B/U > Foil
Old foil > New foil
New foil > Old non-foil
And last of all no unhinged, gold-border, proxies, textless or foreign.

I'm not running any unhinged (except basics), textless nor foreigns (for the FNGs). I do have that single gold-border (which I plan on remedying when the time presents itself -- again no rush) and I do have proxies (and plan on purchasing all relevant power cards in the future). There will continue to be some Altered/Modified cards for the sake of oracle wording. Some of the older cards confuse the newer guys, so having badass artwork on a new card face with the oracle text is better for us than having an older card; if for no reason OTHER than the oracle text.
I'm very interested in obtaining 10-15 foil copies of the Zendikar basics for Cube usage, however.
I'm in the process of replacing my textless cards with foils. I still need Mortify, Incinerate, and Harmonize (but holy crap is the art on the original harmonize bland). I thought they were cool, but I do run into players sometimes not knowing exactly what the textless cards do. Also why I don't run non-English cards.
I don't run proxies, but I have two gold-bordered cards, Grim Monolith and Chrome Mox. I'll replace them eventually. I've thought about buying a set of the Power 9 proxies to use.
Edit: I just noticed I'm over 2,500 posts. Totally indicative of how much I'm bored at work.
And last of all no unhinged, gold-border, proxies, textless or foreign.
Amen to that.
I'd like to add that I also don't care for foils much, but do try and run the oldest version of a card I own. Many of my cards are Beta and I usually try to run the first version of a card as well.
And last of all no unhinged, gold-border, proxies, textless or foreign.
Agreed. However, my classic cube is drafted exclusively for folks that know what the older cards do, so having Japanese stuff isn't a problem for that cube group. I don't use any foreign stuff in my Modern Cube, because I wanted players unfamiliar with all the cards to be able to draft without a problem. My modern cube is my "newb cube" ... and the classic cube is for the sharks.
I agree on the dislike for foreign and gold-border, but I do love the textless and I make sure everyone knows what they do. Also, some of the (less wacky) Unhinged cards are just great for Cube. I couldn't imagine not running City of Ass, WWWWW and Booster Tutor... I hear that Rare-B-Gone is pretty good too.
Heh, yeah, Fowl Play is our favourite unglued card in our cube as well. Funny.
I am all down for gold-bordered cards as they save me lots of money and they still look decent. I have a few in my cube from a deck I bought as a child.
Not a big fan of textless cards in general. I am usually a fan of the original anything.
Rare-B-Gone is the most underrated card in my cube. It usually tables but when I played it was a massive blowout. Balance is nothing compared to Rare-B-Gone which kills planeswalkers, lands and hands. It needs some building around, namely running more un/commons and really makes R/B an appealing combination!
MaRo has ruled that Rare-B-Gone does hit mythics - nothing rarer than an uncommon is safe!
Fowl Play looks like an awesome card. I really need to hunt through Unglued for some treasures like that to bring onboard my cube.
Yes. A thousand times yes. They lured me in with Ivory Tower and Zuran Orb, and I kept telling myself "I can quit whenever I want...just look at that untapped disk". That was ten years ago man.....
(puts face in hands and weeps)
