Laquatus has been solid but not stellar in my Cube. What I like about him is that players tend burn removal on him as soon as possible, making less likely they will have removal for your big threat. I've never seen him actually mill soemone out, but he causes the opponent to play differently. To me, that makes him worth it.
I look forward to someday drafting, Laquatus, Oona, and Nemesis of Reason in the same deck.
I had one mill win with Laquatus before he was cut. I have had several mill wins with Millstone/Grindstone. The Grindstone occasionally hits for 4 cards, making the mill win happen faster. Plus, the 1CC on the Grindstone makes it a great early play before your control deck has a whole lot more to do with the mana.

Loam is a card that does almost nothing by itself. I try to avoid such cards in my cube if possible. It has managed to cling on to its position because when it is good it can be very good. It can provide raw card advantage for things like Stormbind; can wreck an opponent's mana with Strip Mine; can fill your graveyard for reanimation; get lands for playing retrace spells. Each draft it crops up, someone seems to find a new combo for it. I think that is why it stays.
"When I use a word," Humpty Dumpty said, in rather a scornful tone, "it means just what I choose it to mean - neither more nor less." -Lewis Carroll, Through the Looking Glass
I know I've covered this on other threads -- but I'm an idiot for not running Life From the Loam right?
We chose not to run the card in our cube, pretty much for the reasons listed already. It's good, but on it's own it doesn't really affect the game that much. I don't run Loam for the same reasons I don't run Entomb.

It's an old stalwart -- and it's one of those things that you see over and over (for 4 years) and just expect it's inclusion (it was in there because we had Myojins running rampant during the Kamigawa block). At this juncture, it's kind of pointless -- a valid point.

I'm not an idiot for NOT running it, but I will be one, if I do run it -- then remove it?
Haha, no. Not an idiot. I just wouldn't do it myself. It interacts with too many cards to take it out, IMO. We abuse it pretty regularly down here.
Discard protection, LD protection, Reanimation support, and it's abusive with sac lands, fetch-lands, man-lands, cycling lands, etc. ...Not to mention Strip Mine, Wasteland, Barbarian Ring, etc. It also supports your own mass removal spells (that hit lands) and helps recover from your opponent's. I just can't imagine not having it. It's been way too good (for us at least) to consider removing it... and it's such a unique effect. There's not really anything else exactly like it.
If I could only include one green card that's been printed with the new card face for my "classic cube" it would be Life From the Loam... no questions.

...want me to find you a LFtL on an old card face?
Yes please.
There's one card of each color I'll eventually like to make when someone can photoshop 'em for me and print 'em onto washed foils. It they'll look legit enough, I'd love to have one "future" card for each color to go in my cube.
I've got about a dozen or so "Modded Proxies" in my Cube. Totally redone -- some with the new card face, some with the full art-work card face. It helps to RTFC -- because you no longer immediately recognize the artwork (I almost skipped on Recurring Nightmare at P1P1 because of this).
And when you say "future card", do you mean "non-future, now-possibly-older-card, released on a new card face but printed on an old card face" card ?

Well, if these "modded-proxies" are printed onto washed foils, and we can create "newer" cards with older card faces through photoshop or MSE, then I'm down.
Yes, by "Future" cards, I mean cards that are newer than those allowed in my cube.
If this is something you can do, you should PM me with details.
OP has been edited to include my Cube's Spreadsheet, which includes decklist, broken down by color, owner and casting cost, as well as the statistics: Average Casting Cost and breakdown by card type.

I feel the Cube is unbalanced if White has 2 different Planeswalkers. Why do I feel this way? I don't know, but that's my reasoning for having 1 PW for each color.
Yeah, I was noticing I didn't have Shriekmaw or Mulldrifter, but they are on my short list to be added. Abyssal is somewhat of a pet card for one of our guys, I'll see if I can convince him otherwise
I'm finding that everyone's so enamored with the draw ability, that they'll Ninjitsu him into play, rather than hardcast. It's almost as if the 3U is a total turn-off. Or they'll only be happy to get the 2/2 and draw effect for 1U. It's like Ink-Eyes, who ONLY gets Ninjitsu'd.

If you hard cast a Ninja of the Deep hours odds it hits are pretty low. Think this card is getting cut from my cube very soon.
Ink-Eyes hitting once can be a game winner, Ninja hitting once can be meh.
I cleaned house with Ink-Eyes last time we drafted. I nailed one on a 3rd turn (with a 2nd turn Dark Confidant swinging) with the help of Mox Jet and Mox Diamond. Three different times I Ninjitsu'd an Ink-Eyes into play, followed by an Armageddon on the next turn. Nasty stuff.

I'm not sure if I agree with this, blue has 2 "draw 3 for 1" (granted, one has a delay) cards, I think that the colors should represent what is best in their colors, and Ajani Goldmane is easily one of white's best cards. (Similarly with Jace Beleren, well, it's not one of blue's best cards, but it should find its way in.) But, what you are saying with 1 PW/color makes sense and I can see why you want to do it.

I ask because if it gets ninjitsu'd a good amount of the time, it should then be counted as a 2 drop, else it should be counted as a 4.

Because of Tezzeret's requirement to have a good amount of artifacts for him to be even "pretty" good, I was thinking of swapping him out for Jace, who not only is cheaper, but who's ability is wicked against 40-card decks.

Funny you say that -- on my updated Spreadsheet, Deep Hours is under the 2-drops

I'd count Pact of Negation as a 5 casting cost card as casting it before then is, for the most part, suicide.
Makeshift Mannequin should probably replace Zombify, and Shriekmaw definitely needs to go in (over Abyssal Specter.)
