Card is probably really dependent on each cubes walker density but seems somewhat interesting.
Considering many people play phyrexian revoker predominantly as reactive walker hate, how does this compare as a more proactive option for walker hate that also provides more board presence?
In most decks, discarding a card is a pretty heavy cost to pay for a card that doesn't actually answer the PW right away, unless you've also got enough extra mana to spare. This is useful to pick off PWs whose primary mode of operation is to start out with a - ability and then build back up (looking at you, T3feri), but it's not as good against general incremental advantage PWs. Expecting to get to play it and have it stick around through all the other cards a cube deck will have to deal with it, and then knowing that it may need to consume most or all of your mana the following turn, is a pretty poor proposition. Note that it also doesn't have protection from the tokens that so many PWs can poop out to defend themselves. The activated indestructibility helps, but again, that can consume your mana for a turn and will likely not be available immediately after you play this.
I do like that it provides a colorless option, but for discarding a card, I would have liked to see it just eat a PW on ETB.
those are good points. I was thinking how this is a great late game top deck to drop and burn off the walkers on the board but you cant even cast it when you are hellbent.
I view this as a colorless walker removal card. But actually all the colors except blue have solid ways of dealing with walkers better than this. And F** blue, it's fine and can do anything anyway.
Seems so-so - i think the card disadvantage on cast hurts - counterspell, removal, all bad news. If it was ETB, you'd get a window to ping a pw down for lots of mana, but as is, it's a reactive spell that has to meet conditions to do it's job. The body is fine, protection helps against the attacking PWs, 3 mana is
a lot for indestructible. Can't be Oko'd?
Cards like Molten-Tail Masticore and Masticore are classic cards because their ability to clear targets, absorb combat damage, and serve as a colorless discard outlet. Being able to trade cards in hand for board position is nice for Stax decks and I think where this falls short is that you don't have the option to discard, it is a requirement. Unlike traditional Masticore cards where you can stack your effects to get fodder without trading a card in some scenarios.
I do like that it can serve as a really good sink for attrition games, but beyond that it does not have the flexibility that the others have and thus I don't think it is as cube-worthy

Hex Parasite was always an interesting enough card to me. I think this masticore is worse against planeswalkers and better against aggro decks. 3/4 is just such a nice blocker, and the activated indestructibility makes your opponent sink a lot of resources into it if they want to kill it. Both cards are pretty good anti-pw tech for Tezzeret the Seeker kinds of decks. I just don't feel strongly that either card fits into enough strategies. Parasite is stronger with a heavy Persist/Undying theme, of course, and maybe the existence of some cards with ability keyword counters will breathe new life into it.
Any cube (which is most) that does not have a limit on planeswalkers needs to definitely definitely include this card. It has other uses, which is great, but its great to have a card that can answer planeswalkers and go in any deck. I think it will still do well in cubes with a limited number of walkers due to its versatility

I have a cube that does not have a limit on planeswalkers and I have zero interest in this card. Pithing Needle / Sorcerous Spyglass are cheaper, more effective / resilient answers to planeswalkers, not to mention they shut down a lot of other things. I don't believe there's really a deck that wants / needs this card.
I also do not limit planeswalkers and I do not feel so much as an itch to include this card. In fact, I don't even run Pithing Needle or Sorcerous Spyglass. I think I run above average on the number of planeswalkers and most of the time, while they are powerful, those decks are being outdone by Tinker decks and other powerful combo-ish decks like Reanimator or even being just ran over by efficient aggro or bulkier midrange.
Hard for me to justify something like this when I have better Masticore cards and already skip out on better Planeswalker interaction in Artifacts.

Good call-out! It does seem like some hoops to get through to kill a planeswalker though.
