This seems decent in reanimator shells, maybe. It's not the most impressive creature, but it gets itself in the yard much more easily than any other reanimator target, plus it's still a 2-turn clock.
Also, it's uncommon for Peasant cubes! And who doesn't want to reanimate Godzilla?!
Needed some kind of resilience of it's own to make it in cube. As good as an 11/11 trample is, it's pretty easy to remove. I prefer all the big monsters that have ETB abilities and/or resilience to this.
Before this set, the largest creature with cycling was Greater Sandwurm, so they are definitely pushing large creatures with cycling. There's certainly something to be said for having built-in discard on a large creature in a format with access to cheap reanimation. I don't think I'm interested in this card, but it could definitely steal games. And if they're printing something as pushed as this for uncommon, maybe they have a rare with cycling that I am interested in.
You simply can't ignore a reanimator target that can dump itself into the graveyard and provides a 2-turn clock. This card is better than it may initially look since it doesn't rely on other cards to get it into the graveyard while still providing the stats of other reanimation targets. Don't sleep on this!
It's kind of interesting to me. My gut tells me no... but the combination of cheap cycling, easy reanimation target, giving fat creatures trample and a natural order option is something to think about.
Definitely the best cycler to cheat into play we've seen.
Being a discard outlet all by itself is certainly interesting (and you don't need a target since it's a trigger), but is the mediocre creature you get when you reanimate it made up for by it being self-contained? I think probably not.
An 11/11 trample is no joke, and it can still bin itself on T2 (while drawing a card) at instant speed to get ready to be reanimated. I've reanimated generic dumb monsters enough times to realize that I can win games with an early big idiot just fine. Am I crazy for considering this? Plus, there are times where you can randomly cycle this to give trample to one of your creatures that was just chump-blocked to get extra damage through (and draw a card, obv). Seems like it might be okay? IDK.
Me either. Since it's basically being included as a cantrip, it can replace most anything, I think. It's also a cool card to randomly have in fatty-cheating decks. Makes for a fine extra card to throw into play off a Eureka, ya?
I like this card. I don't know if I'll be able to find room in my powered list, but I definitely like it for peasant. One of the great things about peasant is most of the good reanimation cards are legal. The only downside really is the best reanimation targets tend to be rare or even mythic. This gives us a sweet reanimation target that bins itself and gives us a replacement card for our trouble. It's also green, so it doubles as a decent ramp target for those decks.
I have certainly reanimated or natural ordered for Krosan Tusker before and this card is certainly a better threat. Tusker really was nice in the ramp deck though and was more reasonable to actually cast. I think it will preform quite well. A good role player in a lot of deck which makes me want ot stick one in my binder to try.
I really like it. The cycling definitely improves the curve consistency of a deck. Provides +1 target for Natural Order/ Eureka (which I feel we're lacking slightly).
One card I haven't been too happy about in my cube is actually Tooth and Nail. The card has felt way the card has been a bit too narrow.
I'm actively maintaining a comprehensive article to help explain to new cube players how some complex vintage level cards work in a cube environment. Vintage Cube Cards Explained

I really liked the idea of that U cycler 5/5 hexproof, but the body was too embarrassing. Cycling on my reanimation target is amazing.
