Sarkhan, the Loveless 3RR
Legendary Planeswalker - Sarkhan
Whenever a creature attack you or a planeswalker you control, each Dragon you control deals 1 damage to that creature.
[+1]: Until end of turn, each planeswalker you control becomes a 4/4 red Dragon creature and gains flying.
[-3]: Create a 4/4 red Dragon creature token with flying.

Better or worse than Sarkhan, the Dragonspeaker? The loss of indestructible/haste on the +1 hurts. Thought it was better but then saw no haste so :/
Worse. Doesn't have haste so can't hit for 4 by himself the turn you play him, dies to instant speed removal (and opens all your other PW's up to instant speed creature kill), and can't kill creatures.
Yeah, if he lives for 3 turns and makes 2 dragons, it's pretty good, but otherwise meh.
I think new Sarkhan is worse than Dragon Speaker, but still solid in its own right. He’s essentially a better Ob Nixilis of the Black Oath, IMO. Being able to make a dragon + have caltrops up seems pretty strong, plus you can swing for 8 or more damage on the next attack. Not sure I have room for him though, but I am very tempted to test.
This is much more defensive than Dragonspeaker, who I think is ultimately a better PW for cube. Dragonspeaker is a threat AND an answer all in one while this Sarkhan is a threat generator with a defensive ability. There are definitely board states where I'd want this Sarkhan over Dragonspeaker, like if I'm facing down an army of x/1s, or if I have another PW or two on the field already, but those definitely wont be average case scenarios. Dragonspeaker is sooooo much more flexible. This is a cool card and I love the "superfriends" synergy he brings, but I don't think he cracks into my cube.
I also don't like that you have to tick up between making dragons. I wish his token making ability was -2 instead of -3.
Interesting card. I like that it shuts down some opponents’ attacks cold and attacks for 8+ on the next turn after it comes down, but lacking immediate haste or interaction makes me think this is a bit too fair. Red 5s are a murderer’s row as well.
Worse. Doesn't have haste so can't hit for 4 by himself the turn you play him, dies to instant speed removal (and opens all your other PW's up to instant speed creature kill), and can't kill creatures.
And he can't be used nearly as effectively with Wildfire and other creature sweepers you play.
Lots of these planeswalkers are tempting for me, but this one really isn't. I love that it's representing the Circle of Flame ability, and I'd love to get more playable iterations of that ability (I'm still playing Caltrops), but at five mana, this feels pretty dull next to most of the other planeswalkers we've seen. It's a five mana planeswalker that makes a dragon and does a couple little things. We've seen cards like that in the past.

And I don't even run dragonspeaker anymore.

Card's okay, but nothing I need to cube with.
