For me its pretty slim pickins at 540, but I do really like a couple of the cards:
Gutterbones - best cube card in the set by a mile. Cutting a random less good 1 drop. Spawn of Mayhem - awesome beater in black aggro decks. I love this creature. Cutting Isareth, the Awakener. Electrodominance - I have high hopes that this will be a flexible and fun spell in red control and big mana decks. Not convinced it'll stick around that long but I'm happy to give it a spin. I'll probably cut Shrine of Burning Rage which has been in and out of my cube for years. Biogenic Ooze - Decent 5 drop that can go the distance by itself. Not sure if I'm cutting Verderous Gearhulk or a 4 drop. Probably a 4 drop because I think at 540 I can easily support five green 5 drops and green 4s are worse overall. I really like the Gearhulk.
Thats it for me. Orzhov control is not a deck that happens much in my cube and Kaya's Wrath is sooooo restrictive on the mana. If the deck ever does happen it already has access to all the best sweepers anyway.
Ranked by likelyhood the card will be around in my 540 cube ~1 year from now. Nothing in this set that I think is in the top 50% of my cube, so I'm not 100% sure about anything.
80%+
Spawn of Mayhem
Judith, The scourge Diva (Would have predicted ~10% before I saw it in action)
50-80%
Sphinx of foresight
Biogenic Ooze
Hydroid Krasis
25-50%
End-Raze Forerunners
10-25%
Dovin, Grand Arbiter
Incubation//Incongruity
Cindervines
Tithe Taker
10%-
Ravager Wurm
Cards I'm interested in, but not enough to test:
Salamander Drake
Gutterbones (If I cut my 1 drop black duplicates itll go in)
Light up the stage
Gruul spellbreaker
Bedevil
Rix maadi Reveler
Electrodominance
Domri, Chaos Bringer
Savage's Rhythm
Thrash//Threat
Pestilent Spirit
To be honest, this is pretty disappointing after getting something pretty sweet for nearly all of the guilds represented in GRN. I like Dovan, but I don't think our group puts UW tempo that high on the archetype list when drafting. Most of my guys would rather be playing Teferi decks than Dovan decks. It would probably replace Reflector Mage and I think that card goes in more archetypes (including those Teferi decks). The same for Kaya's Wrath. It's not bad, but I just don't think it does what our Orzhov decks want to be doing and we don't really need another 4cc Wrath effect. I wish we'd have gotten that sweet cube worthy 3cc Gruul card or a really good Orzhov finisher or Stax support card with Afterlife. I also would have liked to have seen a great two power one drop from the Gruul clan as well in either red or green. I feel like there was potential for some really good cube cards here and we just didn't get them for the sake of keeping limited and standard at a reasonable power level. Maybe we'll get some sweet stuff in the next Ravnica set in a few months.
What we did get looks to be pretty sweet, though. I think this is my update at the moment, though these cuts are subject to change after I talk to my group about it.
I'll take all the recursive black two power one drops they want to give me. These cards are so versatile as far as archetype support goes and I just love them all. Spawn is a great addition to black aggressive decks specifically, and I'm a huge fan of that deck. Ooze is a testing slot that may prove to be good or great. Nullhide was fine. And finally, I don't have a 'hoof, so Forerunners will do nicely as a big green finisher.
-Sphinx of foresight
seemed very solid in combo decks. Seen play in sneak attack decks and a kiki-jiki/eureka hybrid combo. It was clear to me that some decks have opening hands that are absurdly broken, and plenty of hands that do nothing... In those decks I think this card is going to be great. IE Combo decks with black lotus. The body had random utility as well. It was sneak attacked in to combine for lethal with another creature. It was cast with selvala to draw a card and make her ramp +3 in a deck with almost no blue mana. Both people that drafted the card said it was great for them.
-Biogenic Ooze
I cooled a tiny bit on this card after one cube. The kicker was it's vulnerability to Red removal. Only time it was cast it got hit by a Goblin Cratermaker before the end step... Two cubes it hit sideboard and went late in the draft. Not that I don't think it's good, only that I think I have too many 5 drops in the decks it'll be played in... and I think I'm going to have to cut one I like... Gonna be a hard choice.
-Hydroid Krasis
Saw it cast for x=4, It felt very solid but not incredible. I really liked how the body couldn't be cloned, bounced or fractured identified proftiably.
Highlight was that The first time it was cast, I saw it's maximum broken mode.. Channel x=18, Draw 9 Gain 9, off the cards drawed, spent 8 life, played Ugin (went to 3 life against my UW control deck). I untapped, cast Fractured identity on his Ugin and killed him So.. verdict out if that line is actually good
-Ravager Wurm
Ravager wurm felt very fair. Basically what I was expecting, if not slightly worse. It actually saw a fair amount of main deck play, but never saw it be clutch. Fills a role that I'm under-saturated on, but weak compared to other cube 6+ drops. It's rarely gonna win the game by itself, which is something that almost all cube 6 drops can do. Probably gonna axe it soon.
-Dovin, Grand Arbiter
I kept seeing it cast on the backfoot against agro decks, so never really got to see it pressure anyone. Trading with a cheap creature, soaking up 2 damage from another and gaining life was a decent road block, considering it's weakness is it's low loyalty. It looked nice during deck construction with the artifact synergies. Inconclusive testing.
-Incubation//Incongruity
Didn't see it in play, but saw some decks that were happy to have access to it. Not a powerful card, but I really liked the role that it filled. Instant exile speed removal is non-existant in those colors, which was key against kiki-jiki and blightsteel colosus/Ulamog. It served as a roleplayer in a Kiki-jiki deck to find combo pieces , while having outs to huge creatures. Saw play in an arcane savant/temporal mastery/recurring nightmare deck, was nice for finding arcane savant. Glad to have it in my sideboard in a creature light UWg artifact deck.
A late pick, but I liked it.
End-Raze Forerunners
Got to play it twice in two different natural order decks... It performed well, but I'm unsure if it'll stick. The issue isn't if it's a good card or not (it is), the issue is saturation of similar effects and good 8 CMC green cards.
Both decks wanted a craterhoof effect, but both decks clearly only wanted 1 not 2.
In the first draft, I played a GB natural order/Rec Nightmare deck. I had both Craterhoof and end-raze. I wished the End-raze was a Terastadon in that deck.
In the second draft, in pack 3 I got to pick a ramunap excavator (I had strip mine, wasteland and greens sun zenith) OVER a Craterhoof behemoth, knowing that the end-razer I saw in an early pack would probably wheel. That was a nice option.
The only time I was in a place to natural order for either, Craterhoof would have done nothing, while end-razer made me a favorite to win in a spot I was well behind. I was against BR agro and on the backfoot against a strong start. Natural ordered my only creature away to get end-razer. Put a very fast clock on, while providing a huge blocker. Every keyword was relevant.
Ended up losing the game with my opponent at 3... He was able to assemble enough blockers with A 4/4 Flesh-carver and murderous redcap and trade with the end-razer, and I flooded.
Very early testing relative to expectations:
Judith, The scourge Diva ++
Sphinx of foresight +
Hydroid Krasis =
Dovin, Grand Arbiter =
Biogenic OOze -
End-Raze Forerunners -
Ravager Wurm -
This is a good set, at 720 I'm testing at least one card in every color. I'm happy we have been given redundancy in much needed areas (extra Craterhoof, another recursive black one drop, another Gruul fattie)
Number one card in the set is obvious: Prime Speaker Vannifar. Unfortunately, preorder prices have her over 20$, and well out of my price range. I really hope I either open her, or she falls to being cheap
I'm looking at Gutterbones, Spawn of Mayhem, Judith, and Biogenic Ooze. I guess Judith is the most exciting because I would like RB Sacrifice to be a thing, but I'm not sure Judith is enough juice for that.
I hoped for some spicy Gruul stuff. Ravager Wurm is the only that comes close and that's not really a slam dunk. :/
For me Gutterbones is really the only super interesting card. Spawn of Mayhem is probably also good, but a bit boring. I try to spicy up my black with more recursion/graveyard stuff these days to make the color a bit funnier to draft.
This set has so much wasted potential. Not a single cubeable guild/hybrid card in a set about the guilds. Another lackluster 4 drop Gruul planeswalker, no 1-drop with riot, not a single viable card with afterlife. The only archetype that got a boost is Black aggro (and this is welcome, but still not much to write home about). At least GRN gave us Assassin's Trophy for Golgari, Knight of Autumn for Selesnya, and Aurelia/Tajic for Boros. Also GRN gave us our sorely needed black 5 drop in Doom Whisperer.
I think the only upside here is that when we start the ranking project we won't have to worry about anything from this set cracking any of the top 20 lists and being over or under-appreciated. Oh also, easy on the wallet. Not even attending a prerelease for this....I'll just buy the two cards I need and get ready for War of the Spark.
Spawn of Mayhem - Easy include for me. I run black aggro and this guy looks great. Gutterbones - Recursive black one drops are perfect for cube. This one returns to hand for a bit of a different look too. Dovin, Grand Arbiter - I'm trying this out over Geist. Thopters are good and if given a little breathing room he can ultimate very quickly. Light Up the Stage - A solid pseudo-draw spell. I don't think you need to be too picky on the timing of this card either which helps. Electrodominance - People keep comparing this to the Expertise cycle but I think this is leagues better. Think of how much better Baral's Expertise would be if it were was an instant. End-Raze Forerunners - Lesser Craterhoof is still a good card. Biogenic Ooze - I think I came in way too high on this card. I was thinking it was like pack rat but unfortunately you can cut the head off this guy. Also, the mana sink ability encourages you to do it on your turn which is unfortunate. I'll still test though. Hydroid krasis - This was really not the Simic card I was looking for, but it's a scaleable flampler you can dump a bunch of mana into. It's definitely more exciting than Trygon Predator Cindervines - A good card against most decks but a total beast against control. Not exciting but I think it can pack a punch.
Very disappointing set. Lots of potential, but short on the execution for cube. Probably just gutternones for me and spawn of mayhem.possibly the ooze if he ends up being a bulk mythic price point since I dont think he is that big of an upgrade.
I have to agree with allred123, the set looks pretty weak, both in terms of power level and design. Very dissapointed in Wizards dropping the ball AGAIN on simic.
For me I'm adding Gutterbones when I can, and grabbing Spawn of Mayhem and Biogenic Ooze for testing after rotation. I'm less keen on Spawn of Mayhem than the ooze, but acknowledge it's potential power for black aggro.
And I almost forgot about Light up the Stage. Might be the big sleeper 360 staple that everyone didn't see coming, or it might be garbage. We can only know through testing.
At 450, I'm just adding Gutterbones and Spawn of Mayhem. I may test Biogenic Ooze, but I think I like all my green 5-drops better. Nothing else looks good enough. Simic and Gruul got no help from this set for small or medium cubes.
We are at 541 so we need a cut before Ravnica Allegiance changes.
Adding:
[[End-Raze Forerunners]] for Call of the Herd
[[Cindervines]] for Broken Bond

Always happy to see your picks, and as usual you and I feel the same. Judith is in the vein of something I want. Not sure if it even needs a sacrifice theme as it can get you to that inevitability point where a sweeper wont save them but somehow it stil might not b enough without haste or with the non-token clause.
Gutterbones is a given, will never be top pick but there will always be a deck that take all of these and abuse them with clamp etc.
Spawn and Biogenic are both monsters at their mana cost and can spiral out of control, not sure if wither one will last more than other flashy beater/wincons, but I like how Spawn feels like all upside compared to other giant cheap black flyers. Ooze also helps build a concentration of cards for the +1/+1 counter theme if someone wants to go there.
