It's better than doomblade in my cube (48 black creatures to 40 legendaries). It will also be more consistent than doom blade in that it will be worse against non-black decks but should usually have some viable targets against a creature centric deck.
As of now, it's fairly close to Go for the Throat--someone on discord counted their cube, and it was 39 legendaries vs 26 artifacts--but it could wildly change by the end of this set/block if its a good one. This is one of those cards that could start out as good enough and then end up as not playable. It's probably similar to Doom Blade if not a little better if you just look at raw targets, but it's probably overall better since there's little-to-no chance you end up in a doom-blade-vs-Bx-deck type of scenario.
For my cube, it hits 4 less targets than Doom Blade. Wow. I would like to remove nonblack clauses from as many cards as possible, I suppose. But do I really want to cut doom blade??
My Cubetutor is showing 38 for both legendary creatures / mono-black but a good few of those legendary creatures have hexproof / protection / indestructible anyways. My Cubetutor also isn’t counting for WWK / BFZ manlands, which is a nice leg up for Fall into Oblivion over Ultimate Price. I think this is the next best 2-cmc removal spell after Go for the Throat. I prefer the Edicts more if you’re running TNN and have multiple ways to cheat in things like Emrakul / Ulamog / Blightsteel / Inkwell / etc. If you don’t run those then this will probably be more valuable than the Edicts.
But it's fairly close. I may look into running all 3, though.
According to cubetutor's filtering system, you have 20 legendary creatures and 31 black creatures, along with the things that make black tokens. (batterskull for instance, even if that's not ideal.) Seems like Fall into Oblivion is much better there, especially since you don't run into the non-match ups.

Ah, good catch. I was only counting the 22 mono-black creatures, and using Foxantes's logic that the deck playing black removal would also be running some number of those black creatures, so it seemed like Doom Blade was better. I didn't count multicolored or token makers when comparing them. Considering that now, this may edge out Doom Blade if I don't run all 3.

That logic is real and applies, but we're also not talking about Phyrexian Obliterator here. This is a pretty easy card to splash, and I'm sure we've all run into 'The Doom Blade Problem' many times. Not having a potential blank-card matchup and instead spreading the misses across decks is probably overall better in performance, it'll be harder to lose a match/have extremely awkward spots like it would be if Doom Blade was a blank vs a black deck.
Also, tokens are not a massive selling point, but in a game of variance and with no two games playing out exactly the same it's really nice to have the option. Like, if a faerie is holding a jitte and jitte hitting is me losing, then Doom Blade looks like a chump in that scenario.
It's already pretty close to Go for the Throat as well, as in your own list you have 16 targetable artifacts there too.
I've already cut doom blade and GFTT is still king in my cube. This and ultimate price are very close though. My multicolored section has more legendaries than any of my mono coloured sections so a lot of "non-targets" are shared. I do like that ult price can hit a reanimated griselbrand or an archangel avacyn with the trigger on the stack though. tough choice.
Very likely better than Doom Blade but worse than Go For the Throat. I don't play any of these effects anymore, so it's not close to inclusion in my 405 card cube.
I am currently running doom blade (wanted so much for Malicious Affliction to be a thing, but it was just a harder to cast doomblade 98% of time, and the 2-for-1 just never seemed to happen), so this card is pretty interesting to me. You need to not only look at numbers, but also at the relative power or the creatures and a reduction for the fact that doomblade is usually made better by the fact that you often have taken many of the black creatures in the draft.
I have 44 misses in my cube, but a lot of those are cards you would feel pretty bad using a removal spell on - recurrable stuff like gravecrawler, dread wanderer, or bloodghast, or stuff that is great for it's CITP effect, like skinrender or baleful strix. There's about 10 cards in black that I would say if you're burning a removal spell you're in rough shape anyway, so let's say that's 36 "misses" (didn't want to subtract a full 10 as there are definitely times removing one of those creatures would be fine). Then subtract some additional amount for the fact that you will likely have some number of those black creatures, as even in creature light control decks there's still stuff you'd likely be running (strix, CITP removal creatures, etc)
I have 39 legendary creatures in my cube, none of which are "feel bad" removals except maybe venser & clique. However, there are 5 that are immune to any of this kind of removal - hexproof, protection, and the like. So say 33 misses. So they seem to have a very close miss rate from this half-assed analysis of mine. All of that to say, I have no idea which one is better! So I'll definitely at least be testing this when it releases.
PS - Yeah, I know I need to get a copy of ravenous chupacabra. Just haven't gotten around to it =X
In large cubes, clearly better than doomblade (at the moment).
Hits more targets, and doomblade shares similar restrictions to some other commonly played removal effects (shriekmaw, nekrataal, bone shredder). Very bad to have multiple dead removal spells in a matchup.
The downside becomes geometric (each dead card in your hand is proportionally worse to your win % than the first)

That's a good point. And you may add Snuff Out for the list of 'nonblack' removal.

running the numbers this is going to push out ultimate price in my cube. The ability to hit the dual coloured man lands as well as the colorless ones makes such a big difference.
Just a miss for me. Go for the Throat is better and Merciless Affliction has a way higher upside. Some don't like MA but I find it a payoff card for the sacrifice deck.
I will definitely give it a shot and it might push out Doom Blade for me. Kinda sad to see Doom Blade go as I have had it since the beginning but, the fact they printed an arguably better doom blade in standard has me excited. If this is testing the water we might get something spicier soon as a "rare" removal spell.

I think you combined Malicious Affliction and Merciless Eviction. I will second that it is a pretty solid card, BB can be a bit awkward some times but I usually don't have much trouble turning on morbid.
I like MA too, but it would be an additional BB card behind Hymn/Sinkhole and I feel like the ceiling isn't worth reducing the # of decks which can/want to play it.
Call into Oblivion is a way cooler name than Cast Down : /
It’s important to note that this spell will probably get worse over time since legendary creature power creep is definitely a thing. Assuming you keep the same cube size and keep your colors set to a certain number of cards, things like Doom Blade / GffT / Ultimate Price won’t change too much as this will.
Does this card replace Doom Blade or another removal spell in that list? Or should it be played in addition to that removal suite (7 seems like quite a lot).

I’d replace Doom Blade, especially if you’re salrrady running Nekrataal variants.
Been trying to put to words why this is worse than go for the throat. Usually when go for the throat is going to be a dead card, you can side board it out. Cast down I think will feel more hit and miss, it will probably always have a target, but it won't always be the target you want.
