This is not a thing I expect most of you to be interested in, but there aren't actually all that many good seven drops to choose from, and this does some pretty cool things.
It's resilient, but not unkillable, it's a rarely seen Mystic Remora variant, it's a discard outlet as well as a back-up cheat target, and it looks pretty fun for a stompy monster. Way more so than Pearl Lake Ancient.
It's no mega-star, but it's a fine replacement for Diluvian Primordial, which is a bit redundant after Chancellor of the Spires. Anybody else have any interest in this card?
No evasion + no immediate board impact is just awful for a 7 drop. I'd much rather have the two 7s you mentioned instead and those arent even close to playable either.
This whole cycle of Elder Dinos was so disappointing
Is there an argument for this over Aetherling? Both are essentially 7-drops, but this is less mana intensive and has an incredibly powerful ability against many cube opponents. It’s also way better to cheat into play. No evasion sucks, but it’s still big enough to dominate boards and the decks that play this are probably good at board control anyway.
Ehh, not a fan. Would rather just play more sweet blue 5-6 drops like Frost Titan. Cycle was a disappointment, the white one is the only one that I would consider.
I think the B elder Dino is probably the closest, and maybe the only one we'll test. And remember that there is a sixth one -- though I believe MaRo has confirmed it to have a WUBRG identity, so the odds it will get cubed are incredibly slim. It would basically have to be a Progenitusesque monstrosity.

I primarily play limited, so most of my spoiler season comments view cards through that lens.
I got so excited when I saw this, but am I alone on this one? I really like this card. Its large enough for big-mana or reanimator decks, resilient enough for control, and cheap enough to be realistically castable in an actual match. In my personal opinion, the first two lines are flavor text, but the last two are incredible. No matter the matchup, this guy will draw you a few cards, and if the opponent has a removal spell then you can protect it with the worst cards in your hand. I think you guys are missing just how many noncreature spells are cast per game, especially if you can get this guy out on turn three with a Show and Tell or an Animate Dead (not to mention the fact that in Reanimator, cheating this guy out first gives you a pretty solid discard outlet haha).
Maybe I'm just too excited and this card isn't as good as I think it is, but I'm definitely going to try to fit it in and I just think you guys should give it a second look. I'm definitely going to fit it into my unpowered 450, and I'm going to try it at 360 Powered. If all the snow up here on the east coast settles later in the day I'll try to proxy a few of the new cards for the cube and give some input on a few of the cards, including this one.
Oh and the art is incredible, I'm already getting goosebumps haha.
one thing to note is that in the case you have to return it to your hand you get to draw a card off of their removal spell first so in most cases it will be a draw 1 discard three instead of just three straight up.
Drawing a card every non creature spell cast is an extremely powerful ability in some matchups.
The protections is very strong in blue mirrors and works well with its other ability.
At the least this card is excellent against a 3rd of decks.
It is however very weak against creature decks that push tempo.
It blocks OK, but can be chump blocked for days , death touch eats it etc.
Very expensive to be hard cast.
Using a removal spell on it is a favourable exchange If backed up with pressure. temporarily clearing a blocker and 2 for 1ing your opponent.
I like it as a reanimation target and a side board control finisher, but not enough to test it.
Even so, I just can't imagine this making the cut. The lack of evasion or any amount of guaranteed value for a 7cmc investment is pretty rough. I want flying or trample or at least islandwalk or something for a card that costs this much mana. It can be survivable, and semi-consistent with the card draw ...but it's miserable as a win condition.

Yeah, you're probably right... It's a pretty miserable win condition in many matchups without the evasion. Miserable in that it's either awful (creature heavy decks and agro decks) or that it'll take forever to generate a substantial advantage, and will do so more by stalling the game with the body, and winning slowly via the card advantage.
Could imagine staring down a sorin or an elspeth and thinking , this is my win condition??
It's probably at it's best in reanimator, as the 7/7 body is more impactful early in the game, artifact decks developing their mana will present more card draw triggers.. More likely to have a full grip of cards to pitch to it... Can pitch other fatties to it for further reanimation. But it's still clearly worse than the premium reanimator targets.
A sideboard control finisher + tier 2/3 reanimation target is not enough to make my cube. Rather just play something like Iona if I want something that narrow.
