Interesting take on Recoil, this can actually get rid of anything fairly easily late game with EOT bounce, Mind Rot on your main phase. Not a super flashy card and it doesn't help that we're getting The Scarab God this set, but this seems to me like it's one of the better Aftermath cards.
I feel like I'd rather just play Recoil since this would replace a Dimir card for me. And if I wanted to run Recoil, I'd probably just run Far//Away instead. This looks like limited fodder to me. I like that you can split the cost up over two turns, but Oblivion being priced at 4B is insane (not in a good way).
I like it, but I'm already playing Recoil and Far // Away, plus Dinrova Horror. Maybe this could replace Recoil, but I have such warm fuzzies for that card. Working from the graveyard is always a nice addition to a black card, but I'll probably pass on this one (along with everyone else, unfortunately).
Hmm. I like the cheapness of the interaction and the guaranteed value, but I don't like that it has to compete in Dimir. Maybe worth a test run in peasant.
Even if the Mind Rot on this card only cost 3B it would still only be fair at best. This is not good.
People like different things. There are plenty of people here with Not Max Powered cubes and if I think a card will appeal to somebody (outside super niche cubes), I'll make a post about it.
That's fine. I edited my post because I didn't intend to sound so severe. Still, I can't even see this for peasant. I mean off the top of my head I can think of 5 better Dimir uncommons. Psychatog, Far//Away, Baleful Strix, Lim-Dul's Vault, and Dimrova Horror.
Think people just underestimating aftermath cards in general..
Card is totally fine, though not exciting and not quite competitive enough.
I think I would test it at 1U/3B, as the timing of the mind rot effect is very important.
Early interaction -> mid/late card advantage is recipe for a strong card.
I like how it's not dead against any archetype..

As you should. I've appreciated your optimism on a lot of these lackluster spoilers.

Yeah, you definitely still should, but even in a low powered list this is bad. 4B for mind rot is not a cost worth paying in cube outside of a small percentage of scenarios. You'll lose more games doing that than win.
Count me in favor of more SCDs on new cards, even if they're not great. They might become decent in the future, and I'm sure there are several here who are going to at least test this out.

I just think it's good to turn this forum into a massive resource to a degree. I like the idea that you could potentially do a search for anything remotely cubeable here, find it, and either read the previous opinions or share your own.
I think this is the best Aftermath card yet after Commit // Memory. The front half is fairly costed and the aftermath is just gravy. Won't make my Dimir section though, especially after the spoiling of the Scarab God, as you mentioned.
Don't forget Never // Return, that's pretty good too.
Yeah Never // Return has been alright. Haven't used the second half much as it's been kind of expensive unless you absolutely need it, but sorcery speed Hero's Downfall will still play well.
Not to belabor this discussion, but in the past Cube Forum members collectively have been very good at singling out cards with an appropriate power level to merit discussion. I know the set is low-powered and perhaps that is leading us to discuss cards that would not normally get a thread. I respect that cubes vary and as such I'm going to see threads on cards that might not do it for me, but still definitely merit discussion and that is great, but I'm not sure more discussion is better at a certain point. I think the keyword in Salmo's post for me is "remotely cubeable" and that is missing from a few threads this spoiler season.
It's not that serious. Just ignore the stuff you feel doesn't deserve merit, most people do the same and the silence tends to speaks more than any comment could.
I get that these cards aren't great, but I think stifling discussion is worse than just letting the comments on bad cards play out like they typically do.
You could also just comment and offer discussion about why you think the card is bad and why you think it doesn't make the cut in cubes. No need to call out the OP for trying to stimulate discussion on a card you may not like.
