Cold Storage in Desert form is funny to me. Saves your creatures from removal mid game to re-use later. Probably won't crack most cubes, but Volrath's Stronghold has taught me that having an insurance policy for Primeval Titan can be clutch at times.
Costs more mana to use than Safe Haven, but you get the added benefit of doing it at any time, not just at the beginning of your upkeep. Plus it can tap for mana, and is a desert, for what it's worth.
I think it's kinda cool. Considerable mana investment, maybe, but no color restrictions and doesn't cost a card. It actually taps for mana. I don't think I have room for it, but yeah, I like it.
Cold Storage was the first rare I opened. This is clearly a step up from that, but that was never playable. I like what this is doing, but I'm not sure it's worth a slot, since it doesn't do all that much. There are definitely some shenanigans to get into with this card, but I feel like it would go unplayed a lot of the time.
This is a pretty interesting card. Cold Storage always seemed cool but I have never played with it and Helvault was always a bit too clunky looking, I don't know if it's cubeable and will probably give it a shot before it finds it's way to an EDH deck.
That art is also fantastic.
Edit: Is Safe Haven better most of the time? You lose the ability to return creatures at instant speed, but get to do it for free.
I really like this card and hope that it's good enough. In addition to the fair uses, it can lead to some fun loops with land recursion, function as a pseudo-sac outlet, or just work as a really slow Ghostway. Pity that colorless land slots are so competitive.

Oopps forgot Safe Haven doesn't tap for mana.
