Cycle + Stifle is neat, but the body by itself is kind of meh. I kind of wish the Stifle was an ETB trigger, that's what makes Vendilion Clique so deadly.
This is a cool creature. Splashable 3-power flying creature with flash, and it can also function as a cantripping Stifle if that's what you need. Not sure if I'll be able to find room, but it's definitely a good critter.
I've been looking for more flash creatures to help permission decks, and I also want a playable stifle (disallow is cancel 98% of the time). Will definitely be looking for room for this.
Hmm... is a 3/1 Flash Flying for 3 actually that good? I've been wondering for a while exactly how much of Clique's value comes from the ability.
Regardless, this is probably pretty ok just for the play pattern. Hold open 3 mana and you'll either get a strong value counter, an acceptable body, or just cycle it away for something you need more. Would have loved for this to be a Force Spike instead, though.
Hey, this looks good, depending on the meta this may see SB play in Standard, an uncounterable Stifle that cantrips is a good thing to have. Let's be honest, that's what this card is going to be most of the time.
Count me in! There is nothing about this card that I don't love, except that it doesn't work with Phyrexian Dreadnought. (I actually played Dreadnought in the first iteration of my cube. I was trying to play it fairly... I hadn't really learned to evaluate cards yet.)
This has all kinds of backup modes, so it's seldom completely dead. I'm looking forward to playing with this card. It's exactly the sort of thing that is perfect in my cube.
Now that is a way to make Stifle both cubable and maindeckable!
Seems close to Vendilion Clique to me. High power evasive flash creature is a great answer to opposing planeswalkers. Also presents a rather fast clock the opponent doesn't see coming. Sure, it loses the pseudo-Thoughtseize etb trigger, but is becomes splashable and also an answer to some powerful cards that are already on the board (like Deed, a ready to ultimate planeswalker, etc).
3 mana stifle + draw a card can be solid value in the odd situation, and a 3/1 flash flyer isn't far from a cubeable Rate.
I was arguing in the disallow thread that youd rarely want to use it on a fetch land as it's too poor value for a 3 mana counter and generally would rather just counter whatever they are fetching for.
This card is quite different. Stifling a fetchland is a dream scenario as both modes of this card support a counter/tempo strategy but the stifle cantrips as well! Making it effectively a land destruction spell + draw a card for 3 mana.
While I think the card is very replaceable, it seems fun, and powerful enough to see play in a powered environment.
I'll definitly test for a while , but I don't expect it to last.
I like this creature and I like the idea of having multiple 3 power fliers for 3 mana in blue. I feel like this creature will see play in all manner of tempo and control decks. This is a solid test for me. Stifling a fetch with this is going to bring some serious pain.
I think this Stifle-critter is solid, but I don't think Nimble Obstructionist can even see the arena Clique is in from where it's standing.
Edit: Now, if it was an ETB trigger, so you could get the Stifle AND the body, it would be worth debating this vs Clique, but as it stands? Not even close, IMO.
I absolutely adore flash creatures in a blue tempo/control shell, as they perfectly compliment the color's primary gameplan of counterspells and instant interaction. For instance, Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir is still a strong cubable card in my experience, and cards like Rattlechains and Dimensional Infiltrator are exellent team players as well. This card though, is truly fantastic and only a notch below the might Clique for it's ability to synergize with what blue wants to do. I cannot wait to play with this card and the fetchland blowouts that will surely follow.
I agree that this is nowhere near Clique status, but it is a solid dude. I can see testing this guy in midsize cubes. There's some wiggle room in the three spot.
We'd love to see that print as an ETB triggered. This is so close to be awesome! We would cube a 1UU ETB version of it, that's for sure! The way it is, both mode doens't seem strong enough to make the cut, unfortunately. Interesting design still.
Easy include, this block is golden for cube. It'll probably be a creature most of the time, but when it's a Squelch, I'll be very happy too. SO MUCH VERSATILITY IN THESE CARDS!!
I think this is overrated as most Stifle effects in this format, but still likely a bit better than Disallow. Pity, as I wanted to cut that card for the new charm counter and now I need to rethink.
This is one of the 2 cards I am looking at so far. It just fits very well into the play patterns of many popular archetypes I draft. Blue is very tight but I want to keep upping the spell count but my creatures are at a minimum. ETB would habe made thsi a 360 staple but as it is a main deckable stifle is somethign I have never tried before. There are plenty of times where stifle is good but often it isn't worth a card or there are no targetsk, this fixes both of those issues.
How many people ended up sticking with Nimble Obstructionist? A few players voted that I add this card to my cube for our event this weekend.
I play it at 720. Good enough to be around but not necessary or anything. Sees play mostly as a surprise blocker or a surprise attacker for planeswalkers. It did get to counter an Emrakul trigger once, but I'd not maindeck it just for the ability.

3/1
This seems... very good. A nice 3 power threat with evasion or a Stifle that replaces itself. Some nice versatility there.

The versatility is great here. Card draw with counter effect or a flashy flying 3/1? Nice.
