This is clearly one of the better red creature burns we've seen in a while. Doubling as a Shatter is serious tech. Honestly, I'd say that this is a sidestep from Lightning Strike more than a pure step up, but the fact that it fills two crucial slots that aren't related makes it an economical way to include artifact hate.
In a cube like mine, I can't see not playing this. I'll either cut a random burn, or a random piece of artifact hate, and this will feel like a step up. To note, I don't run Lightning Strike because it's boring. I will run this, as it isn't.
This probably takes the Ancient Grudge spot for me... artifact destruction that's also something useful when there's nothing to hit is just what cube likes.
I like Abrade quite a bit. It loses the reach/'walker damage from a card like Lightning Strike, but the ability to blow up artifacts or kill creatures is really sweet. And instant too.
I think I like the upside of Smelt over Lava Spike and it's nice that being able to choose should be able to help cover weaknesses/let it have uses in matchups where it may not do much (few_creature_control_but_has_manarocks.dek or tons_of_dudes_but_maybe_an_equipment_or_two.dek.)
Definitely looking forward to trying it out tonight... hopefully!
Pretty simple auto-include for me. What really excites me is the cat. If I had to guess, Eternalize will work like Embalm, but it will act as an enchantment, giving all your creatures the keywords of the Eternalized card. A 1/1 double-striker that doubles as a 5-cmc enchantment to give all my guys double-strike? I really hope that's the truth, Ruth.
I definitely like this more than Smash to Smithereens, a fine card that I ran for quite a while. Doubling as creature removal makes this a really flexible card that is always maindeckable. I am going to find a slot for this.
Wild speculation: It's like monstrosity, only that it makes the creature indestructible rather than putting +1/+1 counters on it. (And maybe also makes it a zombie?)
Someone else mentioned that it might be a flashback mechanic similar to embalm, except it pretty much gives you the effect on an enchantment. Like, an eternalized cat would give all your creatures doublestrike. This is of course speculation, but it would be pretty cool to see that.
Wow, is that the first time a game day promo has had art that creeped out of the box? I can't think of any other one off the top of my head...
Either way, Abrade is an auto-include. No way it doesn't make the cut, and will likely take the place of my Incendiary Flow promo I was planning on trying out haha.
I like this card, just not sure what I would cut. Torn between replacing either Smash to Smithereens / Release the Gremlins or running this along side them and cut a random 2-drop dork.

I'm testing it in the place of Lightning Strike/Searing Spear.
With reference to your choices, I personally feel that Smash is a better cut than Gremlins.

I'm actually leaning towards cutting RTG. Being able to kill a mana rock or problematic creature by turn 2 is more appealing to me than another Manic Vandal / potential mass artifact destruction. There's plenty of turn 3 options to destroy artifacts across many colors, but I can use more two mana options. Fiery Confluence also does mass artifact destruction at a more efficient rate than RTG + has many other uses.
I may play this over Lightning Strike, just for some variety. I always hated the art on Lightning Strike anyway.

I think Abrade is highly cubeable. While it's not as good for aggro as Smash to Smithereens for removing artifacts, the flexibility it offers means it should never really be a dead draw.
This probably takes the Ancient Grudge spot for me... artifact destruction that's also something useful when there's nothing to hit is just what cube likes.
This looks great. I happy to trade damaging a player in exchange for main-deckable artifact destruction, especially since we already have so many options that hit players and this will add some variety.
Abrade: scrape or wear away by friction or erosion
Had to look it up, am I the only one who had never heard the word before? I guess it some kind of sandstorm flavour wise. Art seems ok but I'm not its biggest fan, kinda bland and brown.
