Maybe cut a 5? You have what seems like a lot for a 360 cube. I'd cut Whisperwood or Gearhulk, leaning towards cutting Whisperwood for. If you're drafting a high percentage of your cube every time like you typically do at 360, I imagine you don't need to give the green players 5 things to do at 5 mana since they will only need a couple and are sure to get them, especially if they're playing a 2 color deck and can play off-color 5s. I think Whisperwood for this would be a great switch.
Agree with Salmo, I'd probably cut one of your 5's. Since Whisperwood is a pet card, drop either slime, tusk or gearhulk (probably hulk). Calling Den protector a 3 drop is sort of loose anyway. In fact, you can (and maybe even should?) slot it in as a 5.
I get your point, but there are niche scenarios where it does function as a 3 and not feel bad.
But I would never cut Slime/Thragtusk. Those cards are always great, especially in a 360 with a ton of manlands in Slime's case.
re: Excavator, it probably functions the best in a 360. Synergistic cards really stand out in a smaller environment where you can consistently depend on the pieces being available or at least present in a draft, whereas generic good-stuff cards sometimes feel more out of place as they don't contribute to synergistic plays. Excavator probably makes Tireless Tracker better too since you're always hitting land drops in that ideal deck.
My green 5's are definitely an issue. I try to keep Whisperwood because I like it more than Master of the Wild Hunt. It might need to be the cut, but then I would just have to replace it with Master, I really want to keep token generation for stax :/ if only I didn't spend real money on a Gearhulk, I wouldn't be so disappointed to cut him.
Just like I consider any creature with an activated ability or echo cost to cost the amount of the original payment to get it on the field, I consider Den Protector a 3-drop. Are Feldon and Flesh Carver not 3 drops?
Anyway, I like this guy enough to test and prob include him, but just on paper the utility doesn't seem /that/ incredible if you don't have a wasteland/strip mine. Again, Crucible virgin here, I might be sorely mistaken. Hell, I adore stax, and in that shell I would be flippin' around!

FWIW, I agree with this assessment. Crucible was never great for us in decks without the lock. Even in stacks, it is a lower priority support card. I think Excavator will be better in that regard, as by having a 2/3 body lying around, you need to extract less value from the ability to get a good value for your resources.
Beyond Pox//Stax and Strip Mine combo, Armageddon seems to be a sweet follow up to this guy. I'm not sure if this will last, but I've been itching to cut Wickerbough Elder anyhow.
I like that this card makes the Elfgeddon deck a little more palatable. T1 Elf, T2 Excavator, T3 threat, T4 Geddon seems like a sweet line.

Did I miss it or did nobody mention all the card advantage that you can get with looting/rummaging yet?
The most fun I can remember having with Crucible of Worlds was when I combined it with Daretti, Scrap Savant. And no, I did not sacrifice Crucible with the middle ability.
It's definitely a Johnny-type card. Lots of little synergies in the cube with it. Reminds me of Squee that way.

I think you can argue it's also not a 3 drop. Is Snapcaster Mage a 2 drop?

Me too, I think. I like DR a ton, but I think he's a tiny bit too slow for the cube.

Works even better with Exploration, Explore, Oracle of Mul Daya, Azusa, Lost but Seeking, Rites of Flourishing, Ghirapur Orrery, The Gitrog Monster for being able to sacrifice the same lands multiple times in one turn.
