Interesting Soltari Trooper variant. Unblocked, Walker does more damage on the first attack and ties the damage output on the 3rd attack. Being able to block and not as vulnerable to dividible burn is also nice. Thoughts?
It's more like a Stormfront Pegasus variant. I once ran two of those, but now I only run the strictly better Selfless Spirit. This new card is ok, but I am not rushing to include it. I am not a huge fan of exert and it seems barely better than a Pegasus.
I like running Soltari Trooper more, but Walker seems more flexible. I don't know that it's enough. You really have to maneuver yourself into a great position if you want to block with creatures that aren't worth it when not exerted regularly. Taking a turn off of blocking or attacking gives the opponent a lot of time to find an answer to a 3/3 flier, or even a tapped 2/2
There are so many white grizzly bears with upside. This one seems okay, but really boring. Kor Skyfisher has a similar power level while also enabling random shenanigans, so I'd go with that one over this.
I think both Trooper and the Pegasus brothers are way better than this card. Exert is not an insignificant cost; it needs to be way better when exerted to justify using it. And it doesn't gain anything in its non-exerted mode to make it much of a tradeoff. This just seems bad in this format.
I wonder if there are enough exert creatures to make Reconnaissance a thing?
Ha!! This is the best thing I've seen someone come up with out of Amonkhet. Honestly, it would probably have to be for a block cube or something. I played Reconnaissance in the early days of my cube, and as fun as it is, it's not great unless you have wacky interactions like this.

I also played it in an iteration of my cube. Has interesting applications like with inspired (Pain Seer) or Opposition (though that card doesn't need help being broken). Never caught on though, partly because the wording is confusing (talks about not dealing damage but you can do this end of combat after damage is dealt - not super clear).
Worth reminding everyone that Reconnaissance is Maze of Ith for your own critters: it grants vigilance by untapping critters after damage is dealt and additionally can fog unfavorable blocks. It's slightly more unusual to use Maze as pseudo-vigilance on your own critter because it's usually better to fog an attacker than to have an additional untapped blocker so a lot of folks don't catch the interaction.

Glory-Bound Initiate is the best of the bunch. Combat Celebrant is also interesting for Kiki-Twin supporters.

I used to write for MTGS, including Cranial Insertion and cube articles. Good on you if you can find those after the upgrade.
As Reid Duke pointed out, these creatures are pretty insane with Always Watching. Which might be slightly more cube-relevant.
