More powerful cubes won't even consider considering this.
If they printed some really cool desert matters cards, I'd give it some thought. As it is, it's a decent card, but there are several other ones that do better things, albeit at a higher cost. The zombie gives it a little extra synergy bump, and the low sacrifice cost makes it potentially more abusable than things like Gargoyle Castle and Spawning Bed with land recursion, but until land recursion gets more iterations, this is hard to justify. This has a lot going for it, but it's just not worth a land to get Scathe Zombies most of the time. You have to be abusing this for it to be worth its slot. If I were playing 2x magus of the crucible, this would be a strong candidate. Until that day, land recursion is relegated to the corner.
Not bad, but I don't understand why this has the "only activate as a sorcery" clause...

I used to write for MTGS, including Cranial Insertion and cube articles. Good on you if you can find those after the upgrade.

I think the sorcery speed limitation on these cards is a flavour thing. deserts slowly engulf the things around them as the sand blows.
