Not exactly the red Wild Mongrel we've been looking for, but there's a lot of things you can discard for value, plus you can make up the card disadvantage with Draw 7s. Thoughts?
I think a fair point of comparison is with Heir of Falkenrath. The cards behave pretty similarly, except Heir to the Night has Flying whereas this card has an additional point of power and toughness. I can see it replacing some of my lower-tier 2-drops with this and be satisfied, such as Keldon Marauders or Hellspark Elemental.
I absolutely love this card. Balduvian Horde lives again. Lightning Axe has shown me how little red minds an early discard. This may not be for every list, but it's an easy include for me, especially since it's an uncommon, and I'll probably open one without having to hunt it down.
Now that's a 2-drop! I'd been shying away from putting too much reanimator support into red, but if we keep getting discard outlets that are this pushed and still good in aggro I might need to change my stance on this. Something else to keep in mind is that unlike Heir of Falkenrath, if this is the last card in your hand you still get full value out of it without having to discard anything. The art's sweet, too.

So often with these kinds of cards, it's "oh look, Aether Chaser. That's a playable card in aggro." This guy's got zazz. He's got glitz. He's got it all. This guy's got IT. It may not be as powerful as Harsh Mentor, or Borderland Marauder, but this card is all synergy, and all aggro, and that combination doesn't come around every day.
Best point of comparison is Pale Rider of Trostrad, who has been great here. I will be testing this and expect it to stick. B/R have tons of ways to mitigate the drawback or make it advantageous.
I love it. I always have problems getting my group to pick aggro. And with cards like this, we are getting to a threshold, where many aggro find good use in other archtypes.
4/3 red 2 drop with no attacking or blocking drawback.... I'm listening.
3 toughness is much better in red as you are the primary bolter at the table and I have been rocking the reanimation support to some extent. Aggro and reanimator don't often do in the same deck but this guy puts up great defense and drops your fatty so that seems fine.
Overall exciting card. I run Hier over pale rider for flexibilit and evasion but red needs evation less and power more and also doesn't get as many discard enablers.
Seems really solid, I will find him a spot for sure.
I am a big fan of the Daretti/Welder package so having a decent discard outlet in red is useful. Aggressive decks probably wont mind ditching a card for a solid beater. The lack of evasion isn't great, but thats what bolts are for.
It's worth noting it's an uncommon, implying they could push it a bit more. A legendary version with menace would be an amazing include (no real reason for the legendary, I just think everything should be legendary).
Seems strong. Pale Rider also played well for us, and the 4th point of power is a lot more valuable than Skulk which was a pretty *****ty mechanic. (AKA Sulk, cause you're not attacking.) Pretty easy include.
I don't know about you but if Bolas had anything to do with this set then ALL HAIL THE DOUBLE SUN DRAGON GOD FOR HIS CUBE OFFERINGS
Pale Rider of Trostad played well here too. Black has more graveyard synergies than red, but red has burn to assure the 4 power 2 drop is getting through. Easy include for me, and I can hardly see it disappoint.
Skulk is a fine mechanic on a 3/3, since it means that if you're getting blocked, you are probably trading in most cases. My PRoT is a super beater for us. I love this new card too.
There's enough incidental discard in red and black now that I'm looking to bring back Anger and possibly Brawn with this cube update to boost a Fires archetype. Getting relevant stuff in the graveyard has never been easier.
Interesting... think the mandatory 2 for 1 is not worth the obvious power of this guy, but could be underestimating the value of getting him out early.
I'm personally not a fan of playing heir
Of falkenwrath type cards in reanimator.

On the other hand I love Heir in reanimator. Two mana to discard my fatty, and I get to trade with the early rush or trade with their card... Seems fine. It's no entomb but it has played better for me than Oona's Prowler.
Pale Rider of Trostad has evasion and is in a color that wants the discard a lot more. And even that creature isn't very good. This won't be making it in for us. Red's Heir of Falkenrath this is not.
It feels like aggro decks don't want to mulligan their opening hand and be all the more likely to run out of gas. I see this card as a liability unless you're trying to reanimate in which case it feels like more of a Rakdos card, and not one that could make the cut over Olivia, Mobilized for War. It's too much work in an Izzet (or other card advantage) deck if you are using your card advantage spells to catch up because you discarded. I'd rather have a 3/2 than a 4/3 that puts you down a card without options of when to discard.
Ultimately, I don't think this will be good enough. I'd like to get some kind of evasion or a relevant ability for pitching a card.
Interesting to note: the discard (presuming this translation is correct), is not an additional cost (or an "or sacrifice ~"). So if you topdeck him after a sweeper, you can play a relevant threat.
Probably my second favorite card in the set after Nissa. I predict the discard to be a major annoyance perhaps only one time in ten, based on my prior (extensive) experience with his buddy, and probably ditching something useful (like a dude to reanimate or a flashback or aftermath spell) about three or four times out of ten. I really do like these guys and hope they keep printing them! Hopefully the red Embalm guy is decent.
I like Pale Rider of Trostad quite a bit, so naturally, I am giving this red version the thumbs up. Trading skulk for one additional power is fair. A good card for Rakdos reanimator and for all in aggro decks.
And we just got another recurrable aggro creature this set. One that needs you to be low on cards, nonetheless. Just saying.
As an aside to PRoT: I actually like skulk and I was a bit sad that they didn't make it evergreen. It is a very interesting type of evasion. And it was better than expected on a 3/3.
This creature has applications in non aggro decks as well. I'd love to run this guy in a welder/daretti shell and there are options in almost every color to gain value from discarded cards. Normally I wouldn't want to run this but a 4/3 is so much beef for two mana. I'm really tempted to test.
Pale Rider of Trostad was a near miss for me, since so much other great discard was added to black at the same time. Red is far better equipped to make use if this card. There's no Putrid Imp in red.
I know we like cards that play outside of their colors, but it feels like Pale Rider of Trostad is in cubes because it's black. would you run Noose Constrictor if it was a 3/3 that's ETB trigger made you discard?
