wow this card is stupid, it should make SBs of eternal formats as well where insta win combo decks exist. Landing this against storm or something seems like a lot for them to answer.
Slamming this in. Getting a little worried about the planeswalker uniqueness rule with 3 Gideons, 3 Jaces, and 3 Lilianas in most cubes, but oh well. This is sweet. Not sure about a cut yet.

Great card is great. Was hoping for another good 3cc white noncreature card too, and this certainly fits the bill. The {+1} ability seems great at protecting Gideon and yourself. He can bash as a 4/4. He can create an emblem that forces the opponent to kill Gideon somehow before they can win. AND, the emblem will work if they kill off this Gideon and you resolve another one! Seems like an easy include into cubes of most every size, IMO.

Doesn't it just require the storm player to deal 3-4 extra damage (redirected to Gideon)?

Tendrils causes loss of life, not damage, so it can't be redirected to Gideon.

You can't tendrils out a planes walker, and that deck has a hard time dealing with Planeswalkers outside of discard. I imagine there are a number of other decks that have the same problem.

Ah, I see. I'm used to seeing Grapeshot, but that makes sense.

I've never seen a Grapeshot cast against me in Legacy, but I guess it makes sense in Modern, since Tendrils isn't legal there.
Back to the topic, this is going in, and this is actually a case where I'm not concerned about saturation, because his emblem rewards it.
I think I'm cutting Ajani Goldmane for this. RIP Catman.
So this seems fantastic. The question is, for people like me running Kytheon, Gideon Jura, and Ally of Zendikar already, do I just slam this in alongside them for a Gideon tribal subtheme? Or try to cut one of them for uniqueness reasons?

If your cube is big enough to run them all and you don't mind PW saturation, they're all individually good enough to perform on their own and now they exponentially get better. At minimum, they can make some hard cuts easier.
I cap my walkers at 3 per color so for me it is a matter of determining if this jumps Elspeth, Sun's Champion. I'm pretty sure Gideon Jura and Elspeth, Knight-Errant are safe.
I'm not sure I've said this before and I hate when people are hyperbolic but no way am I putting this in my cube. it is good enough for sure but it represents something I don't really like in current design space. The last gideon was annoying enough to play against and this seems worse. One of the 3 Gideons was probably going to be chopped from my 450 anyway. Really tired of more powerful generic planeswlkers. This is fine in all kinds of decks but it doesn't make any particular strategy better.
Just plain gross.
But for all those playing it I am sure it will be great.
The emblem is good but not backbreaking. Red and black can deal with planeswalkers pretty easily with burn or Hero's Downfall / Ruinous Path. Blue can bounce it. White can exile it. Green can smash it. It's a hurdle, but not insurmountable.

I can see GW Gideon being some sort of sub-theme. It won't be difficult to get the emblem and either cast another Gideon or use Regrowth effects / Sun Titan to recur Platinum Gideon.
Really weird card. Seems like a better Worship version of Gideon. Really strange design. I'm not in love with it like most of the folks here because he's mostly a 4/4 for 1WW creature. I mean, when you're behind, he's not getting you anywhere and could basicly ended up being a simple life gain card. And plusing him just seems so empty to me since he doesn't have any ceiling ultimate strap to it. He should be good in tight games in which every life point matter though.
Also, I think it's possible that he has been initially, somewhere in the R&D process, design to be a 4-abilities planeswalker. But ultimately ended up being too powerful, so they trim it down to this.
We're still going to test it out, that's for sure. mostly becuase the Gideon sub-theme/sub-game looks interesting. Not sure he's that strong though...
*indestructible 4/4 for 1WW, with a pacifying ability, and an emblem you can immediately generate that can literally stop you from losing the game. He seems pretty insane.

YES. Really agree with you. Especially the part about being tired of powerful generic planeswalkers. I would love to see the Gatewatch go away for a while, and PW'ers in general be less emphasized. But yeah, obviously it's a great cube card. Just represents a lot of things I'm not that excited about for cube and Magic in general.

He's a stat monster / Maze of Ith that slots into any white aggro / midrange / control deck and survives every sweeper INCLUDING Balance. This Gideon is insane even before you factor in the Platinum Gideon (TM) ability.
I'll be running this and the the other 3 strong Gideon's (Ally, Jura and Kytheon) and leave it up to the drafters to decide who they want in their deck.
Hoo boy, Maze of Ith / Platinum Angel / 4/4 for 3 mana.... Very thankful I don't play Standard!

Planeswalker name saturation is a thing and it doesn't help that 4 out of 6 Gideons are bombs.
