Legendary Thopter for 1 Colorless Mana!
Offensive Xantid Swarm / Flying Men for 1 colorless ain't bad at all, and the ability can make it so that your opponent can't blow you out with a Wrath next turn or something. Can also be recurred to soft-lock your opponent every other turn. Thoughts?
Woah! Now I can certainly find a slot for this lil guy! How cute! Seems good as an extra Tinker target, as a recurrable sorcery blanker, or as a 1 drop for aggro to slide in to ensure that last wave will hit again by giving the middle finger to a wrath for a turn. Also worth noting, if you use this ability and cast things on your second main phase, they cant be countered. Stopping on-curve key Planeswalkers, Enchantments, or artifacts when you see them coming with Thoughtseize effects seems pretty brutal too. I run soul scissors as a pet card in blue and this is a great target for that. There is hope for this thopter in my cube.
I don't think this is very good in the cube. Colorless Flying Men is fun, but having to sacrifice the card for 1 turn's worth of a very mediocre Silence effect is pretty rough. Easy pass for me.
If you are comparing this to flying men you're doing it wrong...
Edit: I always forget to make clear that I'm not talking about standard. It's very possible this thing will not be played at all in standard. I'm an eternal player.

No, both are 1/1 fliers for 1. Yes, this guy is clearly better, but at the end of the day there are very few decks I've made that want artifact colorless flying men, and the upside of a semi-reliable semi-silence effect is certainly not enough to make up for the fact that it's a 1/1 flier for 1. That's not a good card, and the second half doesn't make it one either.

Not a mb card. Will definitely see wide eternal play in both combo decks and aggro creature decks *sideboards*. Just the fact that xantid swarm is in modern now is kind of a big deal.

Great card for eternal combo decks, like Storm and the like. Decks that may have wanted Xantid Swarm that don't have access to G. But it's not a card for the cube.

ok this makes so much more sense now. It's just the card doesn't have a discussion thread yet so I stumbled upon this and thought it just wasn't linked yet. This seems pretty bad in cube lol...it's almost like this is just a colorless flying men

Well, welcome to the cube forum! Stick around and talk squares with us
After a night's sleep, and seeing other reactions, I probably initially over-valued the weak silence effect. It's just so cute I wanted it to be a powerhouse. But thinking again: Would I put a flying man into any of my colored creature slots? Hard no. Would I find room for silence? Hard no. Are both of those things mashed together in colorless worth a slot in my cube or in any deck? Probably not.
Last I checked Silence doesn't last for TWO turns(your 2nd main and their turn)
This is going straight into my Thorn of AmethystGaddock Teeg deck to make sure my green deck never sees your counterspells, removal spells, and planeswalkers.

That's great! However, it's not going in my cube...as this is the cube forum
Can't say I've seen too many cubes run Thorn and / or Teeg. If I wanted a new way to lock my opponent, I'd probably look into Isochron Scepter / Orim's Chant.
So cube has to go infinite? Someone already mentioned Alesha.
That's definitely an interaction, and there are certainly spots where it would be a useful card, but there are a lot of decks that don't really care about not casting non creature spells and if you aren't banking on that second ability then you have a colorless flying man. (Which, in cube, sucks.)

A colorless flying man is definitely not bonkers.
