Good in powered cubes where every deck can be an artifact deck, but our RB decks are usually pretty light on artifacts outside of the big artifact creatures in Sneak Attack, in which case generic reanimation spells do the job just as well (and go into more decks).
Interesting card, and I'm glad they're mixing it up with PW abilities, but this one is just the wrong colors for what decks are usually trying to do in my cube.
Rakdos has received a lot of support recently for the deck that wants to play this (and for that matter the other) Daretti, and going three colors has never been an issue for drafters if they appropriately take lands.
Also, Izzet is probably one of if not the strongest guild I think. Ral Zarek, Dack Fayden, Izzet Charm, Fire/Ice, Dack's Duplicate, Prophetic Bolt, Electrolyze--you're probably cutting a REALLY good card to put Izzet-shifted version of this card into the cube, whereas I feel pretty good removing Dreadbore/Terminate/Removal variant for this guy.
We disagree on a lot here. I think Dreadbore is a REALLY good card, while Izzet has nothing that compares to it besides Dack Fayden and Fire//Ice. I haven't cubed Terminate in years so I agree it is much better than that card. This is getting off-topic however, so it might be wiser to move that discussion somewhere else.
Rakdos decks do not appear here every draft. When they do, only some of them are Grixis. When those show up, only some of them are centered around artifact matters. Of course the presence of this card will change that a little, but one card will not shake worlds and will still be a rather rare occurance.
It's narrow, but it looks like a) a card I would readily splash for if I'm in that deck already and b) might draw me into drafting that deck if I saw it early. So I think it's a fine gold card. The sort I prefer, in fact, over the likes of Dreadbore and Detention Sphere.
I would agree with you on your rationale completely if that archetype was in B/R, but it requires another color in that mix. I see a lot of failed attempts being made when drafting this card as it draws people into Rakdos which doesn't support an artifact deck by itself.
It is a lot less exciting when you realize how little play the card will see compared to other cube cards.
This card will be seeing a lot of cube play. It's crazy good.
80% of Rakdos decks that are aggressive by nature here put a heavy shadow on that claim.
I'm actually a lot more interested in Daretti's application in stacks decks. It is both an endless sacrifice fodder supply like Ophiomancer for Braids and you have many artifacts lying around be they Skullclamp, Smokestack, Tangle Wire, Winter Orb, Hangarback Walker and many more. A lot of them you are actively wanting to sacrifice too in some situations or get that sacrifice for free.
Definitely acquiring one for my Artifact Cube. It is one of the very few cards that goea into the Rakdos Section. Right now I have Rakdos Keyrune. That is how few Rakdos Artifact matters cards there are.
I've have drafted a few really nice artifact/reanimation Rakdos decks from my cube. It definitely is a different deck than the Metal Worker/Tezzerator type artifact decks but with Welder and Daretti 1.0 in red and discard/reanimation support in black, not to mention a plethora of awesome artifact fatties and cards like Mimic Vat and Feldon, I feel like the deck kind of builds itself. This guy fits right in.
I feel like people are focusing on the artifact aspect of this card too much. It's gravy, not the main selling point.
Second that. I don't want to get too hyped up about a new card before I try it, but I'm just really excited about this one since I can really see it going into several different decks and giving RB some much needed variety.
Yes, RB is most usually aggro since it does it so well. But it can also be grindy RB Stax, where I think this card will shine. It can be Sneak/Reanimate, where this card can still be pretty good since most of those decks want to play at least some artifacts that they can sacrifice in a pinch to remove a threat (or that they want to copy, if the ult ever comes online). It can be Wildfire, where this card buys time, survives the fires, and likely spends the rest of the game sacrificing mana rocks to destroy any threat/chumper the opponent is able to play. And as stated so many times now, it's awesome in the dedicated Grixis artifact shell.
I think gold cards should allow for a couple different archetypes in their respective color combinations either by being flexible (Vindicate) or by being crazy bombs in certain decks (Tezzeret AoB). I guess Kolaghan's Command might be the most universally good RB card, but I'd still most likely run it in strict RB aggro shells. Daretti II is the first RB card I wouldn't run in aggro, and I really see this as a positive. I'd run it for the same reason I'd run Sneak Attack or Geist of St. Traft - I don't want red to be just burn, UW to be just wraths and big threats, or indeed for RB to be just Bob and Guide.
There's a psychological aspect to it too, I'd say: when a new drafter sees a card like Daretti II they will (correctly) guess that there is a fun RB non-aggro deck that they can draft. Even if it was already viable in the cube, it might be much less likely to happen without a gold card that screams BUILD AROUND ME.
I'm on board with this guy in my 360. He looks that he'll fit well in a number of archetypes. Stax, reanimator, welder, Rakdos tempo/control (yes, it's a thing), and probably goodstuff.dec too. This card looks like it will let you build around it in a variety of ways, which is just cool-cool. So yeah, I'm on board.
It's probably high time I fit Sneak Attack in there too.

I was confused for a moment how so many people had Rakdos sections that this won't crack; Rakdos is my worst multicolored section. I then realized that it's because most people aren't running battlecruiser EDH cubes where aggressive BR cards actually work. This is an easy include for me, not hard to find a cut. (I have a good few cards in my Rakdos section waiting to be replaced.)

Check out the thread for my cube if you have the time, and tell me how terrible it is.
Generals meant to be drafted first in a single pack of 6 cards.
And here is the actual cube, meant to be drafted in 4 regular sized packs. (60 card decks)
As much as I like the artifact archetype, I think this card is enough good on its own to worth a spot in most cube. Even if it's not a good aggro card, it's seems really serviceable in midrange and control. Don't make mistakes, defending yourself from X/1 while adding loyalties to it is strong. Add to it the fact that you can randomly sac stuff like useless mana rocks or synergy permanent like Hangarback Walker, Solemn Simulacrum or Wurmcoil Engine for value. It's also a great stax engine that provide additional permanents for Braids and Smokestack. On top of that, the ultimate is trully reachable and powerful. Hitting any graveyard and any artifact creature on the battlefield is definitely sweet.
I don't have an artifact themed Cube or deck that is all artifacts, like, not even close...but in terms of something new, cool, interesting and for something to pull people into Rakdos, I reckon this guy will be worth it. Even just making the 1/1's as blockers and ticking up, removing some stuff, perfect. Sneak Attacking out a Battleball and getting 3 back will be memorable and it will be in a Red/Black shell. May not work, may be awesome, either way, I will be testing it for sure!
I love me some dredbore, but how can I not just pull that for Darreti. I can put ruinous path in black for another planeswalker killer. And it is silly to say you need powered or heavy artifacts in your cube to play it. Most cubes are 10-15% artifact already. As for showing up in a aggro deck I certainly would be happy to play it in aggro against everything except control, and even then it might still do good work talking out mana artifacts every other turn.
Removal on a walker is always at least decent. 3 mana walkers are always good. Token making walkers are the best. And this is all 3.
This card is just options for the color pair. If you draft this card in your Rakdos aggro pool, don't be mad. You probably grabbed Braids too. Consider how transforming into a different deck against the mid-range match-up might help. Dreadbore can't do that.
Wow, I'm really excited for this card. It looks like it will end up being great in either the articact deck or just more of a grindfest shell. Can't wait to see what else conspiracy mk.II has to offer, it has been super so far.
I played this card today in a couple different control decks (Mardu and grixis) and was very impressed. If I was able to untap with darreti unmolested for a turn the game usually shifted in my favor as I was able to pick off threats at will. Also managed to get him to ultimate twice, copying wurmcoil and memory jar. His guy is an excellent card and played amazingly in slower decks that need lots of speed bumps and removal. Was hoping to get him in an artifact deck but he was great without extra synergies.

Exactly how it wetn for us as well. All around great card. No need to synergize or anything.
Also playing great for us. Though admittedly I've only played him in decks with deep artifact synergies so far. Nothing to report on his performance in a generic Rakdos/Jund shell.
I have only played him in a generic Grixis shell. Had drafted hoping to get artifact synergies, but there wasn't the payoff in that drafted portion other than a Strix. It did the job you expect of churning out blockers and getting value from his second ability. The fact that is second ability is only [-1] is huge game. Can't wait to see it in the 'proper' deck.

On spoiled card wishlisting and 'should-have-had'-isms:
Not as sure about him after realizing that. I like synergy in my cube. At least he's a solid control card.
