For those of you that run 3-color cards in cube, does this pique your interest? I feel like this will play out quite well, even if it's only a cantripping, hasted, deathtouch 3/3 for four. This can possibly backfire if you're on the backfoot (and especially if she is removed from play so that her defensive second ability can't trigger), but I feel like the risk is worth the reward and you ARE in the three most aggressive colors in the cube to help promote pushing creatures in. Thoughts?
For a 3 color card I think I like Alesha more, but it's definitely an interesting design. Wouldn't really want to test it myself but would be interested in hearing results from the more adventurous.
I'm interested for sure. Marchesa should make it easier to stay the monarch, which will add some lategame gas to a deck that could use it. I could be wrong, especially since she's very weak to removal, but I think there's lots of potential there.
If I still had my old playgroup's cube together, I'd test it out. Against creatureless decks this is a Bloodbraid Elf with better stats that always cascades into a faster, unkillable Coercive Portal. Against decks that actually can take the crown, you're still always getting that first draw, along with generating value and probably getting a chance to steal it back.
I'll be testing out some of the weaker variants of this mechanic in my Peasant cube as it sits.
I'm cautiously interested in the idea of monarchs in typical one-on-one cube play, even as I'm a little skeptical about a mechanic that so unilaterally rewards creature-based decks – I personally love hard control decks, and can see games turning feel-baddy when one player gets what's essentially a non-interactive emblem that says "draw a card each turn," for much less work than an effect of that power should require.
But anyways, like I said I would try out a monarch card. I just don't think this is the one.
I was hoping someone would make this SCD before I had to. We like to have one true tri-color of every guild, and Newchesa looks more promising than Butcher of the Horde. I'd also expect her to outperform Alesha or Hordechief, if we had them competing for the same slot. The Monarch effect is really good in a lot of matchups, and WBR is a solid color combo to try to keep it.

I primarily play limited, so most of my spoiler season comments view cards through that lens.
Really? Alesha is a centerpiece of a lot of our 2-power ETB abuse shells. Plays alongside Recruiter, 'Lark, Feldon, Vat, Portal, etc...
Really. My ETB support is more focused in bant, but black/red does get graveyard recursion and some sacrifice synergy. I had high hopes for Alesha, but even in the decks that seemed to want it, the ability didn't come up. Either they had better things to do for the mana or they didn't get a suitable target in the graveyard.
Thanks for attaching the token. Didn't realize until now that "monarch" had an effect other than an arbitrary title.
Think this card is awsome in a mardu deck and the best pure mardu card printed, but the mana requirements are too harsh for me to justify inclusion.
A TRUE tri-color section (ignoring cards like alesha/tasigur) should only exist in at least 650+ cubes IMO. They are too narrow for anything smaller from my experiences.
One or two of them doesn't effect the cube much, but 5+ adds too many narrow cards.
